I would rate the show a 6/10. Things I didn’t like about the show 1. Some of the acting especially from the katara actress 2. Them changing the intro instead of letting katara say the intro 3. Taking away each character’s major flaw that added depth to their character 4. Bringing too many season 2 characters to season 1(I don’t mind this one much to be fair) 5. Barely showing appa and momoa then randomly expecting us to care about momoa at the final episode 6. Making katara so ridiculously powerful instead of her gradually picking up skills then becoming power due to being trained by an official master 7. Making Azula whiney and spunky instead of calm and calculated 8. The excessive exposition 9. The way they handled the avatars. Making Roku like a Christmas tree, making Kyoshi rude and waterbending avatar (who originally is the light hearted one) serious. 10. Bad writing eg Aang didn’t run from his duties yet all the characters say that and he doesn’t even defend himself also they are so illogical blaming a 12 year old for a war he didn’t start or run from 11. Alot of the props and wigs are bad 12. Making earth bending movements too fluid and making air bending look like telekinesis with Aang flying and slow movements 13. Bad usage of camera/cinematography and finally 14. I don’t feel the impact of the avatar. When Aang goes into avatar state I should feel goosebumps, from the effects to music to lighting to cinematography etc. it just felt stale but I want a second season because it has potential and they need to get it right and finish what they chose to start
Well said, for me, the bending is one of the things that were worst interpreted, each bending form is supposed to be based off of martial arts, not moving flailing, some moves, fire bending isn't unique anymore, Zuko didn't do a whole backhand spring to front flip just to throw a fireball in the cartoon, he was precise, firm, and had a strong foundation in his bending, the Netflix adaptation...absolutely horrendous, I hope season 2 can improve on this, especially with how Toph bends so specifically to what she's trying to do, martial arts has to be integrated into each bending discipline from here on out for the show to have those iconic fights as the og show did, fingers crossed they can fix the issue's that they has season 1, because Adult wasn't intelligent, Ozai's perfect favorite child, basically a perfectionist who's as close to perfect, and precise a bender as we've seen, if she wouldn't have had that mental break in the final handful of episodes, she'd have won the Agni Kai against Zuko, I don't see me getting emotional when this version of Azula breaks down emotionally.
