My life just feels a little bit more complete with a new CUPodcast.
Best username ever bro 😂

What else is there
Haven't seen this in ages. What a nostalgia trip. The last episode I remember watching was when Ian had that nerve issue in his stomach and was holding a pillow. What was that like 6-7 years ago?
Yeah boys! CUpodcast time! Good to see you guys. And also, hi Tommy, hope you're having a blast playing bagammon and avoiding all Amico related responsabilities.
In other words - Bubsy the Bobcat went home to "Grand-Grandfather".
ACCOLADE who created Bubsy was founded by former ACTIVISION co-founders -who- was spawned from having worked for ATARI!
So in other words, Bubsy came back to his grand family!
The intro got me!! "Its been awhile" 😂
Ian is totally right. Flea market madness isn't about what you find. It's just a vibe. Listening to frank hit on old ladies selling CDs while you mock him with game knowledge. So good
It makes my entire day now when I see there's an episode to watch!
The realist quote from Ian right here is so true man. "The joy about Mortal Kombat is not thinking too hard about it".
That's the smart thing to do with your phone Ian, keep it for several years until it really slows down. I do that too, I end up saving way more money over upgrading every few years.
I totally agree with Ian on the streaming discussion. Back in the day, I bought seasons of shows that interested me and I was commited to watch them. Nowadays I watch no tv shows at all, because there is just to much content that has no value to me, because its all in the monthly subscription and I don't feel any kind of commitment anymore.
I love Flea Market Madness, watching Pat and Frank just walk around and look and comment on old stuff is so much fun
Ian, I've recently gotten back into RC myself. I came up with a sweet design that I've cadded that allows me to mount an FPV camera to the RC. Completely changes the experience and gives you a sweet view when taking those jumps. You should definitely try an FPV setup on your car. Thanks for the epic content btw, gents. Truly appreciated. 🎉
I definitely agree with Ian about buying a series on DvD vs streaming it. A streaming account feels like an obligation while a DVD collection, if buying the series in piece meal, feels like a treat
Yeah, just make it so that I can buy a series and stream it over the weekend. Not pay a monthly fee and wait for the next episode
the 👑👑 have returned!!!
Thank you guys!! I missed this pod so much! I will start binging some old content. Gotta keep you in my algorithm
Lol! Grape Waterloo and vodka has been a standard drink in our house just about every weekend for a few years running now.
Great to hear from you guys! ❤
Thanks for making a new video episode of the CUPodcast!
I really miss you guys.
Thats awesome to hear Ians into RC. I recently got back into it as an adult who can now afford all these awesome Tamiya RC kits I lusted over as a wee lad.
Always nice to see you back for a video boys! Sending my best from England
Damn glad every time y’all drop something new!
Thanks for the super show! Miss you guys!
Great to see you guys again!
love that intro and hearing these 2 talking about the news once again
Thanks for the content!
I miss you when you’re gone but it just makes it that much sweeter when you come back. I hope you’re both livin happy n free.
I've been craving a new cu podcast for a while thank you guys please comeeeee back
Always happy to see my two favourites.
Maybe Project Q and merge with Intellivision Home and become the ultimate piece of hardware for bringing the family back together in the living room again!?
Always a treat!
Big fan cheers thanks for the content
Woo! I just followed extra napkins on Spotify
iPhone 8 gang!! I also rode mine into the ground, such a great phone. I got a 13 a while back but I still miss the button and the 3D Touch. Ian’s got good taste
Regarding the streaming discussion, one advantage I think streaming has compared to cable is that the episodes could be as long or short as need be. If the show were to shift to cable, production would be more constrained by how they could format their episodes. The other advantage is that it gives production more flexibility with season length compared to cable which probably requires ~20 episodes/season.
So glad it’s back
this was such a pleasant surprise when my podcast app showed a new ep...especially cause of all the amico news lol.
This podcast WAS my source for Amico news, so I haven't heard. What happened?
@@KingKool2099 they go over it in this ep, but Amico sold off a few of its IPs to other platforms...the whole Amico home for phones, and just general tomfooelry/lies coming from the new CEO
Gather round they’re the talk of the town
The PS5 sales are actually outpacing the PS4's during the same period (2 1/2 yrs). There was an article released by Game Rant just last month about it, so it's too early to suggest it won't be as successful if not more so than the PS4.
I love Rc car racing and yes it constantly needs to be worked on and upgraded its so fun.
Mr. Gimmick is also on the Sunsoft Collection Evercade Cartridge later this year. 39:05
Interesting; right after the Khan musical segment, YT aired a Star Trek on Paramount + ad, as if they timed it to appear right after they covered something Star Trek
Scalping hurt the PS5 too, I was looking for one at one point then I stopped trying.
The last few mortal Kombat Games have had a pretty good story actually. Involving time traveling and multiple versions of characters.
Atari vcs has lots of games lately. It’s still a fun little platform. You can’t mention Atari acquiring all these games and not mention how Atari VcS’s library is expanding
@jpf97 Its really that good?
Might have to look it up
Finally, some good fucking content
Bubsy and such used to be owned by Atari, until they sold them off to companies like Tommo and Piko Interactive about 10 years ago. So, they're basically repurchasing properties they previously owned.
15 years ago, I hated having to pay for cable and get hundreds of channels I don't care about. Nowadays, I can pay for just Netflix and one floater streaming service. I'll have it for a few months, catch up on the interesting shows on that service, then move to the next one later. Unless you feel like it's necessary to watch every show when it's new, I think this is still way better. I pay like $30 where cable cost way more for a decent package.
As a Suns fan, Monty got screwed. He wasn't the problem. I could go on about what was the problem, but it wasn't Monty.
I wouldn't over react over Sony's new streaming device, Sony has a whole history of weird tech that is so niche it gets forgotten as it's launch.... and it's neat! "Oh wow, this TV, you can have two people play on different perspective." or "Oh wow, Mini discs" and even now going back to the PS3.... it has an awesome CD audio visualizer. OH SURE, NO ONE USES IT 15 YEARS LATER, but it's neat playing Weird Al greatest hits, and then it just zooms by.
The also bought Nightdive Studios......What makes sense if you buy retro ips. 24:09
Can I hear an update on the Ebay space - I'm sorry I'm late to the party but I work in the coins/precious metals space and noticed one of your old videos discussing the bots - is there another place to sell that is populated/safe?
Welcome back gentleman
Any thoughts on Picard Season 3?
PS5 sales at 29 months are actually outpacing where PS4 sales were at 29 months
Go for the good ending in Gimmick. :)
Woooaaaaahh...it's the C U Podcaassst
All caught up now! I wonder what Atari plan to do with those dead IPs... maybe bank on getting rich from a meme?
Don't go away....we need you...now more than ever
So how did The whole discussion with Guru Larry went?
What's crazy about project q is that it doesn't sound like you can stream the old games if you have the higher tiers of ps+ Just the remote play stuff. At $150-200 maybe it sells decently. Any higher and you may as well just pay the extra for a switch or steam deck.
Don't forget about The Simpsons. A lot of people subscribed to Disney Plus just to get the entire Simpsons back cataloger. Also, I think Willow will end up in a high capacity USB stick in the Disney vault, beside the frozen head of Walt Disney. .
Same here, but just last summer to basically watch the Simpsons back catalog.
It's the return of the Disney Vault.
Shout out to Brett Hull Hockey! Loved those.
The PS5 is essentially a PS 4.5.
Right now...but look how the last of us 2 and resident evil 2 remake used the ps4s full potential towards the end...there hasn't been anything released yet to show the ps5s full potential...and probably won't until 2025 to 2026 when developers fully harness it.
@@billzco6137 At which point the next system will be in the pipeline. Wait for that, the 4’s library is deep enough, and just skip the nonessential sequel.
Sony should've stuck with the Vita, that was a good handheld.
Did I miss the Amico part?
I thought you guys said you’re wrapping it up with the show?
They never said they wouldn't still do them occasionally
Never heard it called Return of the dragon, it's always been Way of the Dragon for me.
Did Larry make good?
Ian looks amazing!!!
46:07 It’s the PlayStation Stadia
I haven't watched this in YEARS, does Ian still have a messed up back?
Sony should have supported the Vita more, especially saying as the Switch is doing so well. If they bring out a new Vita I'd be very happy.
Infogrames was renamed Atari over a decade ago. Weird they had to buy back some of their own stuff. Also weird they don't own Alone in the Dark anymore as it seems THQ is releasing that game
Ian gets his hoodies custom made
Woohoo !
I think the real news is that Atari purchased Stern coin-op titles including Berzerk and Frenzy.
Ps4 came out in 2013 its over 10 years old man, Ps5 with 38million sales in 2.5 is great numbers.
Hum... the Mortal Kombat (and most fighting games) obsession with DLC is why I' never buy any of them till I can get everyone, and then I'm so not worried about it till there is a good sale since I've been waiting so long all ready, just like how I didn't get 11 till everything with aftermath came down to about 20 bucks.
What could possibly go wrong?
Ian talking about how the people making Mortal Kombat have to be having a lot of fun, when a few years back the story running the news cycle was an artist claimed to have been diagnosed with PTSD from working on Mortal Kombat 11...
That was because they made them watch animals getting slaughtered as opposed to real people to get a sense of what gore should look like. But apparently it was like months of watching it all the time.
Bummed that there was never a physical release for Pac-Man 99. It's a fun game, and some of the single player themes were DEEP cuts; stuff that Bandai Namco had never even acknowledged for decades.
But what would you do now with a physical Release, that you can't really play :> ?
I know that this is a a few months old but I just wanted to give my take on your point about streaming services. I dont think it would ever be possible for them to go back to any type of pre-streaming model, you can't unring that bell. Imo one of the biggest problems streaming services have is underestimating their biggest competitors which are, free platforms that are primarily ad driven. Quibi tried to address that but they failed because they applied old Hollywood ideas to a newer medium and it was a miss. I think the kind of sad reality is that people in my generation and the next have accepted much lower grade content, as long as it's free and constant. I think if Netflix disappeared tomorrow, most people under 30 would just lean into tiktok and youtube.
Did Larry Bundy show up?
Prime got me to discover Stargate SG-1 and it is awesome.
Wait til you gotta go back and forth between sg-1 and atlantis episodes to keep the timeline correct.
@@williammiller3277 Never did such thing, you can just assume where you are.
@@Azuris190 you do have to do it if you dont want plot points ruined. Canon timeline is the way to go. Its the way they were written and originally viewed this way when they aired concurrently.
Atari will have Nightdive studios Do a Bubsy 3D remaster
Hey Pat you should mention how the Quest 2 outsold both the XBOX S and X, since you love talking about VR honestly (seriously i get why you may not enjoy it but the weird vitriol from non VR users to any success the medium has is bizarre from my perspective). Also worth mentioning Beat-saber alone generated over 250 million in revenue
There's no way anyone would pay more than $200 for the Project Q, but there's no way Sony is not gonna try to sell it for more
VAN DAMME 💪👊
PS5 is outpacing ps5 sales in the US despite being widely unavailable 18 months after launch. These are reports from april of this year. The ps5 is selling well and i legit thought you were right when i heard of its poor sales but a quick google search pulled up many articles saying otherwise.
Yeah it's a terrible take they had on Sony and the ps5 sales.
I don't know if you've ever heard of him, but you should do a collab with Rich from ReviewTechUSA, he's big into seltzer. Would be a fun episode.
I like Bubsy but that's only because it gives me nostalgia for an Australian after school game show called A*Mazing. I'm pretty sure Nintendo was either running the show or the main sponsor and Bubsy was a game they would play as a challenge lol
Pac-man Tunnel Battle was so good.. 99 it was too easy to get #1. Just avoid everyone and let them all die then attack
that guy is gonna be a human multitap when they find out in prison he's the pew pew bandit
Sorry but a very high number of people play their switch only or mostly as handheld.....in their homes. They not using the dock. The like playing in their bed or on the couch that way. And sometimes you just want to play 10-15 minutes to skip time faster without turning on all equipment. Bottom line: there are usecases, there is a niche.....but it's all about the price. The price determinates the size of that niche. 48:15
Could Atari have bought those titles just to clean up any legal issues? Or maybe use them as claims against current IP?
I've been away for a few years and damn these two have gotten chunky
hey babe. Wake up. Trex arms and Mario's third cousin twice removed just released their recent podcast.
I think all these content generation companies like Disney, Warner, etc screwed up by trying to compete directly with Netflix and destroyed their business model when what they should have done is just jacked up the rates they charge streaming services for premium content.
Also we're overdue for a new physical media for TV shows. I think there would be a market for a whole season of a show on something the size of a switch cartridge.
Glad you guys recorded during the finals. I've been a Nuggets fan for over 20 years and it's nice to finally be at the show. Hopefully they can pull it off, but someone other than Jokic has to show up.
LOL Dunkey is gonna have a field day on the Bubsy topic at some point LOL -- Willow wasn't good ftr ;)
Scoop!!
Pretty sure the Project Q requires games to be installed on your PS5 so unless they change something , cloud gaming shouldn't work with it .
My only guess is that Sony is doing this because more people are using remote play than we all think. That said, I'm not sure i'd buy Project Q for 100 bucks.
