The thing about ES is that American retirees will find that you will encounter Salvadorans that used to live in the US. That translates to some relatability. Many salvadorans have worked in many corners of America...small towns and big cities.

@@livinlikealocalSV The people from El Salvador made money in USA and went back to there country to start a business , restaurants airbnb etc , some are struggling , there is a big gap between rich and poor , but everyone seems to be friendly .

Great video! Every country has their own unique idiosyncrasies. It is multi faceted and stratified. There are somethings which are hard for people to understand or get their head around, how could the country with the most vicious maras have some of the kindest people anywhere? El Salvador is a country of contrast. You can have a walled mansion with a helipad, 2 minutes from a shanty town. The problem with El Salvador is that, it used to be a paradise for the few wealthy and a tiny upper middle class but a struggle for the majority of the population, where as now, El Salvador is on its way to forging a strong middle class, fair wages ,just like first world countries like US, Europe. Expect more hospitals, highways, 1st grade public transport, venues, etc. I hope to come back one day to take part in the transformation that is taking place. God bless El Salvador.

Great video. I was actually born there. Left when I was 9 years old and never returned. I do speak the language; however, not with a Salvadoran accent, I might add. Mind you, I no longer have family there. Currently, I'm a naturalized US citizen, and I'm strongly considering moving there after retirement. I find that there is a bit of a negative psychological aspect to the fact that besides the language, I will feel like a foreigner in a country where I was born. Thank you so much for the video.

My name is Mauricio, and like this lovely lady, I am thinking in going back to my country ES. I live in Las Vegas for now,, but as I said, I wanna go back and teach Spanish to people like this lady. My country is changing, and therefore, we have to be ready to make foreigners to feel welcome to our beautiful country, and being English a quasi Universal language....voila...here I am. Blessings everyone, and a Happy New Year! Comentarios o criticas, seran bien recibidas....

@@livinlikealocalSV - thanks. Just wondering, have u been to Columbia, Paraguay, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Panama ? do u know if the migration process is easy for those countries for people over the age of 60 ? I'm not ready to move now .. but wish to keep looking and increasing my knowledge. Need a place which is safe for a woman on her own who does not drive.

I’m totally interested in the info about the tortoise 🐢 since I do have one, not 75 lbs, maybe 15 but would love to take her, instead of donating her. Please send me your email. Thanks so much!!

The people are great , and the country is safe , but be aware earthquakes happen often , and it can get very hot . The main areas are San Salvador , the beaches , Santa Tecla , and San Benito and Rosa Zona areas . Also places close early , by 7 pm some malls are closed , and the nicest areas are very expensive . Some people in El Salvador make under 500 dollars a month and air bnb are 1200 to 3000 a month for a apartment . So El Salvador is becoming more expensive due to expats moving there . Also areas closest towards the airport and Honduras are not recommended , this is what locals told me . Again if you are not use to earthquakes you might want to reconsider living here.
Nice country but it is important to know these things . I have seen expat videos about how great a country is and 2 years later another video on why we left . No country is perfect .

May I suggest to you to sack away the undertitles..the brain will work far better trying to understand your conversation with no undertitles..just my humble opinion..having learnt a little english in U.K your accents sounds different to me..and that is good..because my ears will got used to a quite different way of pronounciation...😃👍👍
