I'm not a dirt bike guy but some of my mates are, and the 500 EXC is revered. So much choice really nowadays, maybe too much choice creating muddied waters?

Hey Josh. Long time viewer, first time commenter, Just wanted to say it was JD on the old kwaka 450 that got me watching your channel years ago. Just because I impulse bought and had a deposit on a new one. I then did my research, and watched your old videos. Quickly realised how ancient they are, cancelled my order and grabbed myself a 500 instead. Would love to see a catch up with Emmsy on the skinny bikes one day haha. Keep up the good work 👍

Jesse 3 years off a proper dirt bike ! You wouldn't think so the way he was pushing that 500 around . It definitely looked like a wicked day out , as usual pretty rugged tracks , lantana, wheelie's and slippery conditions! Just how slippery is up for debate🤔 Cheers 🍻

Yeah good fun for a change, I did kinda get bored with this stuff eventually before and I guess it'll happen again, hopefully before I sell the T7 😁 Then again the 690 is such a do-it-all bike 🤷♂
You have the absolute best places to ride off-road!
I bought the 501. where I live there is just too much pavement and my 890 gets all the love. I should have went with a 701/700/690 but felt it was too close to the 890. I was wrong. Yeah, the 501 is like a mountain bike compared to the 890 but I think the 690 is a better bike for longer pavement to get to the tracks. Unless I want to truck the 501, and that's never been an idea I'm fond of.

Mate i have a 500 excf 2022 model I’ve put 23,000km on it riding to the bush from my house, it’s great on the road for a dirt bike I wouldn’t bother putting it behind a car
@@william6815 I’ll be giving a go again this riding season. I’d love the bike to prove me wrong with more miles. I put 11,000 miles on the 890 last year and riding was cut short a couple of months because of moving. I’d like to give a few thousand of those miles to the 501.

I recently got my 24' 690, the only time felt it struggled against the smaller bikes was when things got technical and really super slippy, that weight is a killer in those conditions :D I am loving my 690 so much tho. 500 was just too serious for me, 690 was easier to own.
100% 👌 Still loving mine I think it's the perfect bike for someone who likes to get into the mildly snotty stuff but doesn't want to own a trailer or change oil every 2nd ride 👌

Single biggest thing I hated so far on tough stuff was how long geared it is, I need a gear right between 1st and 2nd .....I don't need a bike that will do over 100mph, the fact I could cruise all day at 80mph tells me they geared it too long from the factory IMO. Swapping the front sprocket to a 14t tomorrow hopefully :P

@@Insaiyanrider the 690 💪 it's by no means perfect, but I feel like it goes where I need it to go and the easy maintenance and easy road cruising without trailering make it the winner for me

RESULT: 1) "EnduroSingleTrack" --> 500EXC(fun!), KTM690(work), 2) "6000mile ADVride" --> KTM690(work), Tenere700(fun!).... CONCLUSION: as great as the 690 is, there is no such thing as "unicorns". If you can afford the right tool for the job, you'll be happier.
Prediction: Josh puts the 690 in the garage beside the tenere, buys a new 2024 Huski501/500excf... then sells the 690.
We'll see 😉
