If you don't laugh out loud a couple of times during this artist's playing and raise your eyebrows in amazement we aren't even in the same atmosphere. He's just great!
carol morrison thats funny! I was in the gym watching this and yes, I just busted up, got a few glances, I didnt say why... weird it came from the bottom of my gut
Joscho achieves what most people would consider impossible on a 6 string guitar . He is the modern day Miguel Llobet and Francisco Tarrega - who were considered virtuoso’s of their time. While they played different styles - they were standouts like Joscho. What an amazing display of skill and musicality. Great video Len - thanks for capturing this for all to see.
lots of people try to recreate Djanjo's sound but this guy really nailed the vibrato and bends...also noticed a few signature Django licks but Joscho improvised most of the solo...I wasn't expecting that...mind blown
It's hard to believe that at this level as a guitar player, there's more to learn. To me this is as far as one can get. If I'd be on this level I would be very happy. 3:01 fooling around at master level. Fantastic.
Joscho is truly a master of his art. This style is not only fast but it involves a huge amount of articulation of the strings at that pace.Great video work!
Joscho makes sweet love to his instrument once again. Rough and yet tender at the same time. Who has more fun than him? People criticize him for his heavy handed bends and gimmicks, but that would only be valid if he wasn't melodically good with a soft touch. Guess what? He is. He's influenced by Chet Atkins, who was clearly borrowing a lot from Django, so I say good deal. No one is like him, no one is better, just different. He dominates his instrument---that's his style, and it's never bad. (Ok, fine, Bireli is the king---but everyone already knew that, and it's an irrelevant nomination)
A guitarist can be criticised for their bends? If you don't bend heavy on these guitars, the bend sucks. This is actually the most un-Joscho I've heard him play, with the more bluesy phrasing and pinch harmonics.
There’s about a 1 1/2 minute stretch where Joscho tucks the pick between his forefinger and middle finger and fingerpicks. It begins at :49 and ends at 1:53
I guess with practice your fingers build up strength enough to bend that wound third string just like it was an unwound one. Practice, practice, practice.
Inevitable that new musicians absorb in a short time what innovators spent a lifetime developing. They stand tall by standing on the shoulders of others, and so progress occurs.
Super version, but not sounding that "gipsy", to my french ears. Anyway, the song itself wasn't written in this style, even if it has become a gipsy jazz standard. To me, Joscho sounds quite american, bluesy (especially in the first part, especially if you compare his version to something more "roots", like the Stochelo Rosenberg version, i.e.
He is entertaining, skillfully inventive yet the tune remains recognizable (unlike a lot of Gypsy Jazz solos, including Django's.) That seems far more important than adhering to a narrowly defined style.
Joscho is an amazing technician but so far from the music of Django ! No sense of melody, only the detestable side of Gypsy jazz when you feel to assist to a challenge of whom has the longer !
oh b.s.(!) fun to bag on genius, yes? this guy smokes, comps, backs others and is musically infinitely inventive. And effortless chops that never quit...
I love a musician with a sense of humor.
+Dooality Yeah he and Tommy are alike.

carol morrison I didn't laugh out loud. I sh!t my pants. This guy is astounding. The Second coming of Django?
U talk too much...stfu and listen...DA
I laugh a lot during that show ! Its so fun to watch !

Well, this is Stephan at a supreme level of playing. Just breathtaking. RobertK.
May I just add that Django introduced a tonal quality that made your heart tear in two. RobertK.
BRAVO!!! The only thing better than a stellar performance is watching the performer truly enjoy what he's doing!
Very impressed by his guitaring and also his thick luscious full head of hair.

unbelieveable playing,,, love this stuff,,,, and such humor in the playing as well!!!!!!!!
just brilliant.. such an ispiration for so many musicians!!

Sometimes it feels that Joscho is performing an etude as opposed to a song , but I still like him.
musical humour is a sign of sovereignty
Truly sensational and inspiring playing, probably as good as it gets to my mind.
To me, he is the best in the world.
I've been playing guitar since 1961.
In my humble opinion, Randy, you're dead right, no-one to touch him.
He couldn't not be, I can't see how it's possible to play better.
@@12alocin Hello, I like joscho so much, but glenn proudfoot is very good too.
i agree with this, even though its subjective, i can't see anyone doing better
he is so enjoying himself cheers and applause
Wow what an innovator of the gypsy jazz style. He's like the new age Django!
Biréli, DeBarre, Adrien Moignard, Sébastien Giniaux....all as creative as Joscho is, or more. Joscho is a beast nonetheless.
@@SaccoBelmonte when did opinions become facts
@@xooperz Thing is, I don't see Joscho as an innovator. Sorry.
@@SaccoBelmonte Ya and it's your respected opinion. Just not an ultimate fact
@@xooperz Did I say so?

Who has that much fun, Johnny Hiland and Billy Strings. Pleasure to watch!

This is the way to start a Sunday morning (and any other day) ❤

Truly outstanding! Inspirational
This man is amazing top level ....but sooner or later there is always someone who wil top that ...that's how it always has been
Great Joscho.
Joscho in Bestform
Lol Josho doesn't even know what else to do with his guitar at this point...
He needs a gamer pc at this point lmao
Tout simplement fabuleux j'adore
endlessly entertaining
Ya para que le buscamos, es el mejor !!!!
Master of his craft ... excellence!
I'd like to see the five people with the thumbs down. Joscho isn't the most nimble player I've seen yet
he is evolving; breaking away from the standard form; thereby making him TOP DOG
Súper virtuoso.
This what Santana would sound like if he practiced!
Lol!
Jaffre no
Please do not compare
yo badass! that was great fun to watch
Maestro!!!
No one else.
In complete control- he is just having fun here never taking anything serious.

Para mi gusto es el mejor de los Manouches, hace con la guitarra lo que quiere.
Great video. Who's doing the rhythm guitar?
samuel697375 Joscho is Grade A , Adrian grade Z minus.
samuel697375 thanks for letting me know, I know Adrian very well.

So you know what I'm talking about ...
+Buco Bucolini ...me....
Ahum.....:P
I wish.
Sulvian Luc style
1:09-1:12 HOOOLY!
so great, but how about one nod to the rhythm player at the end?
Certo certo ok
As much as i love this style of playing, are they getting paid by the number of notes?
Wade Older please
A 6 string wizard.

I don't understand why is it legal to play that good?

Auto correct. Yuk.... Joscho is the most nimble player I've seen.....
Theres probably some third grade Korean kid working on perfecting this guy. FU You tube you make me feel like a looser!!! LOL
+tin man ...I'm with you.
I'm waaaayyyyyy down the ladder.(Dutch saying, same in English?)

He is entertaining, skillfully inventive yet the tune remains recognizable (unlike a lot of Gypsy Jazz solos, including Django's.) That seems far more important than adhering to a narrowly defined style.
Please do not mention Django Reinhardt if you don't know his music.
He's like a more handsome version of Seth MacFarlane
I’ll take Joscho over Jimi any day.
not on par with a joe robinson or TE
I want my money back... My guitar did Not come with a set of those fingers!
A few more years practice and he will be good.
Heh heh.... you see if you just click "read more" you get the final reward lol
I said that too some promising teachers. :)
This guy must have sold his soul to the devil.
He went to heaven and made a deal with Django
