  • In this episode, it’s the one you have all been asking for...Extreme Vs SBS...everything you need to know. I compare two of the leading Jetski trailer manufacture here in the UK. I own trailers made from both manufacture, therefore this is an unbiased, non sponsored honest compassion. I compare the specs and also everything you need to know about what customise options you can achieve with each manufacture.
I have owned both SBS and Extreme trailers now for some time and the question I get asked over and over from my followers is, ‘Joe I want to buy a custom jetski trailer, which is better?’ However I wanted to make a review off the back of watching closely A) how both trailers perform over months of using and B) to see what latest R&D these 2 giant UK brands came up with next. With the best part of 3 years now seeing these custom, powder coated trailers, being more mainstream, I think we have seen what both brands have to offer, so now feels like a good time to give a review of their current best in class custom offerings. Obviously as with all product reviews, this is my independent thoughts, based on a lot of years building my own powder coated trailers and also, know what goes into customisation. Hopefully it helps give you a closer look at these two brands... any questions, drop me a comment below and I will get back to you.
P.S. if there are any other custom trailer brands I have missed or you think can challenge these two, let me know.

Your trailers over there are totally different than ours here in the US.
Whats the deal with the retractable and removable light bar boards?
Here our lights are just attached to the end corners of the trailers.
With that extension you also have to have longer extending and exposed wires.
Also do they not offer double trailers?
You have so many skis, do you not have a double trailer?
Hell I have friends that have 3 place, 4 place, and even 6 place pwc trailers.
I have a yard full of skis and trailers.
    7 singles, 4 doubles. Lol

As always great questions dude... ok so you can opt for what we call integrated lights and number plate but I launch alot on the beach. So the lights and bars tend to stick into the sand and would damage easily. On a technical level though, pretty much all trailers use the detachable lightboards with the cable you have to wrap around the frame to the front pin (very annoying) think it maybe a EU reg thing, that these trailer manufactures work to here. I'm actually in the process of making a wireless light system as seen amazing reviews for the wireless lights, that way I can just lift the board off and I'm done.
As for the removable bars, again they are removed to avoid damaging the rear corners of the ski.
I have toyed with a double trailer but I don't really have the room to store one and by having just 2 master trailers and the rest of the skis on showroom dollys, I can fit all the skis in the garage... a doubles footprint takes up alot of room (you can top and tail singles and fit tighter). The other thing is both Extreme and SBS double trailer designs, I'm not a massive fan of. In the US you have beautiful bent/rounded box section frames... if you google an SBS or Extreme double, they use straight pieces which looks a little unrefined vs the smart singles... I think years ago SBS had a nicer double design but I assume based on cost they stopped bending the metal frame.
Other thing to keep in mind is, in the US powder coating trailers isn't as new a concept as here in the UK...we have 2 major brands (Extreme and SBS) who are the only guys really doing custom trailers that aren't standard Gal. I see in the US so many different trailer designs.
One thing we have that's the same though is Seadoos 😂😂

      @@classicjetskis nice info..
But with only single trailers you now have to have a 2nd vehicle haul another trailer if you want to go riding with your wife or friend.
And here, most of us don't care about leaving the trailers out in the weather, so we can have more room with skis on carts in the garage or storage unit.
Trailers here are hard to find sometimes..other times theres tons of them on the FB marketplace. Sometimes you find $600-800 nice trailers that come with a free blown up ski..lol.
But the prices of trailers has gone up.
I bought my used big steel double trailer for $500 in 2015. Now used singles are going for $600-800 and used doubles for $1200-1500.

@@GCEXTREMEMN I hear you dude, the thing is though (you may have already guessed by now from watching my videos) but I'm very OCD and hate s**t trailers... there is nothing worse for me than a pristine ski sitting on a crap old trailer. My trailers are clean as the skis (the trailers in this video are both a year old and they look like new).
The thing is even if I left the trailers outside I wouldn't gain anything space wise, I would still only be able to get 8 skis (only😂) in the garage anyway... plus everything I own, both the trailers and skis are always inside the garage to keep them fresh... that's how I have kept all mine so clean for this long. I had a powder coated trailer that I just sold after 4 years and it looked new...that got me £1300 for a single. What you have to think is if you ever sell a ski and you have a trailer like the one in my video, that's that clean, it adds value vs an old rusty gal trailer. If anything I will actively say I don't want the trailer (if its old and a mess) if I go see an old ski, as I will always put it on a new trailer anyway. I have restored 4 old trailers now and like my other video spoke about, I honestly wouldn't bother anymore...
All 8 skis and the 2 trailers are in the garage year round... the trailers are washed and loved every ride just like the skis.
As for 2 single trailers vs 1 double , I ride pretty much every time with my dad and the times I ride on my own I don't want to be hauling a double.... If space was no object I would make a custom epic 4 ski trailer but that said, I would still keep singles as ride on my own alot also.
You seem to have loads of (as you would say) 'yard space'... we call yards 'gardens' here lol so understand that if you're storing skis outside, then having some s**t trailers is ideal to keep outside.

      @@classicjetskis yep i understand.
But here nobody values the trailer when buying a ski, its not the main thing, people want a good running ski and dont care if the trailer is crap.
And if i buy a trailer for $500 and throw too much $$ into i will never get that money back because people here wont pay for it.
So i buy a trailer for $400-500, i usually throw new bunks and carpet on it, sometimes a new winch, but if i throw tires on at $100 each thats $200 and new lights/wires ($50). I now have $300 invested in a $400 trailer and thats $700 total invested before labor. Nobody wants to pay $800+ for a used trailer when new ones are $1400.
Its like your trailer video on restoring vs buying new.
Trailers usuall sell for a loss, because its hard to sell a ski without a trailer and they want to bargain you down on the trailer.

@@GCEXTREMEMN I hear you dude, different markets I guess… I think here in the UK, powder coated custom trailers have been abit of a new trend in recent years and comparably price wise to restore a full trailer vs buying new means like you say there is no strong money in restoring… that said that white powder coated one I did, I got £1000 for it, which I was happy with as it was a 1996 trailer… to get 1k for it nearly 30 years later is not bad. I got that trailer as part of a deal with the wave raider and was able to make good content of the process, so was happy but yeh wouldn’t restore any more.
