  • What do you think about these unfinished Vanilla WoW Dungeons. Do you think they should revisit Alpha and Pre-Alpha concepts and bring them back?

The OG Skull Rock and the one in game are separate concepts. After they moved away from in-game open world dungeons, based on my research, they still created starter dungeons, but also created the location in the open world.
Hence why Humans got Stockades and Deadmines, and Orcs and Tauren got Wailing Caverns and RFC.
I do wonder what the original Skull Rock dungeon would have been had they chosen to instance it off tho!

isn't the entrance to wailing caverns literally a giant skull rock

@@EbonhardtTVI still think the Skull Rock we got as a cave with higher concentration of enemies and one named enemy is equivalent to the Fargodeep Mine with its higher concentration of enemies and Goldtooth. If one is the remnants of a scrapped starter dungeon why can't the other be as well? That the original idea of a starter dungeon after instancing was implemented morphed into RFC is still clear, of course, as the worst chain that takes you to Skull Rock does end up leading to RFC.
(I remember one of the quest items you were sent to Skull Rock to collect wasn't taken after completing the quest and was tradeable, so anyone who did the quest before could hand the item to someone else standing next to the quest giver for an instant turn-in and trade back.)

i think the real reason they did instance dungeons was because Everquest had open dungeons. but essentially Guilds would just set up shop and camp a dungeon so no one else could do them so they made them instanced in WoW

I would bet the Tauren dungeon was the area in Mulgore to the southeast just before the path goes into the Barrens. That section has a bunch of quillboar in a Razorfen like setup.

I think the Forsaken were always meant to be the Forsaken, but the devs were just calling them Scourge since in WC3 they were rebel Scourge that used Scourge assets. I remember in an interview with one of the original devs (Probably the same one you mentioned in the vid), he was reminiscing about how most of them were retarded when it came to the lore and Metzen was *constantly* butting in to say "Well ackshually" about certain things. The examples listed were that "The Scourge and Forsaken are different", ""Night elf tigers can't be orange, they have to be purple or white", "Only the black dragons are evil, the other ones are good." which is why you can find orange tiger mounts in the game code, in vanilla they just just swapped out dragon colors, or made non-black ones either corrupted or guardians of something (though it seems those blue ones in Azshara slipped through the cracks), and it was obvious the Forsaken _weren't_ the Scourge by the time you were playing one considering some of the earliest quests are about killing Scourge undead. One of the more famous ones Metzen was overruled on was Night Elves being allowed to have female druids and male priests which they added a sort of "Oh the NEs were dragged in to the modern world in the 3rd war and needed all the help they could get so they allowed it" sort of mention.

I could see Grim Batol being a low level dungeon. Kill a couple red whelps, build a mechanical red dragon to sneak past the elites outside the gate.

I was suggest the dwarf starter dungeon _The Excavation Site_ is more likely to have been where the Gol'Bolar Quarry is now, rather than over in the second zone. There's a large cavern with a single entrance, and a rare spawn. This would make more sense when compared with where the other 5 starter dungeons were supposed to be located - all inside their initial zones.
_The Gold Mine_ may have been intended to be located where Jasperlode Mine is rather than FargoDeep, as this only the one entrance, as appose to 3 entrances. There is also a rare spawn here. This also lines up with the orc starter dungeon of _Skull Rock_ which is off the coast east of Orgrimmar. This cavern system has a single entrance, mob levels at the high end of the zone, and has a rare spawn chance.
The forsaken's dungeon _The Monastery_ is likely Scarlet Monastery as you say, mu guess would be the external part of the dungeon is today. If I recall correctly, there may even be a rare spawn chance in this area. The tauren dungeon _Razor Fen_ was most likely supposed to be where Brambleblade Ravine is now, Again there is a rare spawn in the area.

Interesting to hear that the nelf starter dungeon became BFD. I would've thought the confusing barrow den area in their starting zone would've been the open world starter dungeon, analogous to vanilla's Fargodeep Mine and the eventual Skull Rock cave.

  • @omniscientbeing4224

skull rock is no ragefire chasm, it is a cave to the east of org, on the coast. it's where horde have to collect burning blade collars.

The copium is intense. Your interview seems to have given you some false confidence. This is the classic dev team we are talking about. The only thing they’ve created is weapon stats for like less than 10 new weapons. Everything else they just stole the previous developers work. Let’s look at new things they’ve added to the world.
    1: Demon Fall Canyon
That’s it. That’s all the new we got. Any of this content you’re talking about would take work. Someone would have to design the dungeons in their entirety. Classic devs will not do that. If it’s not something they can copy/paste from some other dev from some other point in time they simply won’t do it.
Classic plus is going to have a huge start, just like SoD, but it’ll probably fall off harder when everyone realizes it’s just a SoD patch and not actually something new

    • @EbonhardtTV
      @EbonhardtTV  9 днів тому

They're clearly trying their best to create new content, encounters and designs with their limited resources. Is it perfect? No, not by any means. But it's new content that is trying to thematically fit into the Classic ecosystem.
SoD is a test and experiment for the future. Is there a chance I get burned with my Hopium? Maybe. But as of right now, I'm choosing to put my faith into the Dev team.

    • @ToHonorKnowledge
      @ToHonorKnowledge 9 днів тому

@@EbonhardtTV here’s the thing. They did t sell it as “testing for the future” they sold it as a completed seasonal concept. Only after it became blatantly obvious that they just copied WotLK and literally nothing else they had to back pedal “oh lol guys this is a test didn’t you know haha”. Why am I paying to test their unreleased game? That’s called a scam for 1. For 2 no, they aren’t trying their best. With limited resources they could make 1 new dungeon and then borrow retail artists to make 1 new and frankly terrible boss. Copying others work and doing 2 things by yourself isn’t “trying your best” is being lazy as all hell. We should stop pretending they are doing anything until they actually do. No one gives a fuck about t2, no one gives a fuck about BWL or ZG. We were told NEW RAIDS and after almost a year of paying them I haven’t seen even a hint at a new raid. They are liars and they are lazy. If they want classic plus to be any kind of success they need to do a complete flip on their heads to what’s happening now

    FEED BACK for classic+
    - They need to unlocked all the locked maps in Azeroth and add new quest/story chains.
    - There are total 9 locked map in vanilla Azeroth (with isles)
    - They should add new dungeons and few new raids to some of these locked maps ofc. and design new items/gears fit to vanilla culture.
    - Some of people dont wanna see GDKP - Bots - Multiboxers - gold sellers and boosters. blizz should take this into consideration.
    - BARBERSHOP would be great in vanilla btw. (Except for gender reassignment)
    - We want to see the more lore from; The Great war to warcraft3 in vanilla Azeroth!
    - WE DONT WANNA PLAY WITH FCKN RETAIL SKILLS ofc!
    - We wanna see new races in line with the story of vanilla(warcraft). (maybe worgens cuz worgens shows in 2003 vanilla trailer. maybe high elves, maybe goblins or ogres idk)
    - More world boss and more wpvp events would be good ofc in line with the lore of vanilla.
    - Another arena would be great like grubashi with different chest or reward idk.
    - We dont want flying mounts and transmogs!
    - Paladin and Shaman classes should not be available to both factions. This breaks the vanilla culture!
    - We don't want the awful retail models!
    - We want just the real, completed vanilla!
I am a 35 year old dad warcraft player, I have cleared vanilla twice before.
I hope one day they will complete the unfinished vanilla and present it to us...

WoW Vanilla, back then, was an incomplete game, that, was kinda of finished, only whend TBC came out.
If WoW Vanilla had more time to develop and didn't change development teams so many times, probably the WoW we have today, would be way different than the one we actually know.
