These are all fantastic tips for memorizing lyrics. One I would add is just having the song on a loop in your car or headphones when driving, riding the bus, subway, etc. Just so immersed in that thing so that you're hearing it in your sleep!

Problem with that loop method is if you’re like me I tend to not listen to the lyrics but just the sound of the voice and the beat/melody. This is why I have trouble memorizing any song unless I excessively train by singing the particular song over and over

@@highaltitude787 This is why I specifically mentioned that I would "add" this option, because the more ways one practices, the better the chances are for retention. I would never suggest only using the loop method, but just one more piece to the grand puzzle that drills it into the brain. Best of luck to you on your singing adventure!

That doesn't always help as your brain gets tired of repetitions)) and just turns off) maybe not too many and not for too long helps)

OMG nobody needed this advice more than I! All my life I’ve enjoyed songs primarily because of the voice and the melody without much regard to the lyrics. Over the past few years I began to try harder and with my own initiative began using a few of your suggestions….writing out the song, singing in the car, going for a walk and singing to myself. Thank you! Three weeks ago I’ve also messaged 3 vocal coaches looking to improve my range amongst other things and so far nobody responded! Maybe they’re not interested in old students! 🤨

I don't learn lyrics easily and never remember them from just listening, but I sing the songs in my mind when I walk to town, 30 minutes, and for that I carry the lyrics in my pocket or in my hand and then, as I do that more and more, I need to look at my paper less and less. And you are right, copying whatever you want to learn by heard and writing it by hand is excellent too. I am a very visual person, so all that helps me and by now I sing 65 songs by heart, in 10 languages, even if I don't learn lyrics easily! But I get there eventually... Thanks for the tips, Victoria...

Great tips - what I also do is get the original on my phone and pause it before each verse, chorus, bridge etc and mentally say in my mind what the singer is about to sing. then play that little section and see how well you did, then move on section by section. You normally find a song is pretty much 'done' lyrically half way though and the 2nd half is just repetition, solos' and filler.

Ms Victoria, I love your videos and have been watching them for years. I don’t have a lot of money to afford coaching so this is the next best thing and believe me it’s a life saver. I feel like I’ve hit a wall on what I can do without a vocal coach though because I can’t find my issues or identify if I’m practicing properly. I wish I could get your vocal feedback on your website but I can’t afford something like that. Is there anything I can do? Thank you for everything
