Your video helped me realize why I couldn't properly disassemble my new 870 (Hardwood Home Defense). It was due to the extended mag tube and my being new to shotguns. Thanks a million.
Thanks for the video I bought my 870 tactical with the magazine extension already on it. I bought the Magpul stock and forend and the piece that holds the barrel on is so tight I needed to find a install video to make sure it just screws off lol so thank you for the help!
My 870 came with that extension on it but i want to convert to a hunting shotgun since i've taken up bird hunting. Apart from the longer barrel I had to purchase the standard tube spring, end cap, and retainer. I hope the new style retainer will work. I bought the shotgun in 2010 i believe.
Here's Something To Look Into To Upgrade: #1) Add The TL-RACKER Pump/1000 Lumen Light Combo... #2) Add The TACTALOAD FLASH-5 STOCK, It Allows U To Carry 5 Extra Round's, Inside The Stock...
Did you test to see if you can put 6 rounds into the magazine tube? Also, did you use the original Remington follower? Basically, I'm asking if you had difficulty getting the original follower past the detents, in the end of the magazine tube?
Porter Aldous awesomeness. How did it end up working out. I have an old Remington 870 Wingmaster that looks brand new that I want to put an extension on. Congratulations!
@@jmedi5589 How old of a model 870 doesn't have those dimples ? Mine is an early 90's model 870 Magnum Special Purpose 12 ga. 21 in. barrel real tree camo and I wanna add an extension mag tube as well to come out even at the barrel also !!!
@@jmedi5589 I just tried the shot gun shell test without the spring and the shell will not slide down the tube backwards so I either got to get a dremmel and file them down or that other costly method !!! But if I wanted to hunt and only had to have 3 shells wouldn't removing those detents be illegal with the extended tube attached ?
Thanks. My old ‘91 did not require any removal of lines, and your finger technique taught me to hold down the spring.
Easiest modification ever!

Capo jay , with the magazine extension, how many rounds does it hold now????
@@powerofyahinyahshua4825 It should be a 6 +1 now

Awesome video! Thank you for sharing.
Now all ya need is the magpul stock 😊
Its looks great partner
Hey Capo Jay, thanks for the video! I'm looking forward to doing this on my own Remington. What side saddle is that btw??
RumTumDrumR SOE shotgun card. Uses hook and loop.
Thank you!
Thank you for the update.
Omg. Didn't think it was this simple. Damn
Is there such thing as a swappable magazine tube?
One that can be attached and detached like a normal box magazine?
That 870 is definitely looking bad ass bro! Let us know how the range test goes.
Thanks man. It's getting there. Just a couple more pieces to go
What came with the 2 shot extention? Spring and barrel and magazine bracket included?
Yep, you got it.
Nice
what lenth is the barrel,i just got an 870 with the 18 1/2 in barrel and was looking for the right tube to do the same,do i need the plus2 or 3
This one is 18" and you'll need the plus 2
@@ConfederateMafia thank you
What is the name of the brand and where you found it?
Nice shotgun! Question: do you know if these mag extensions will also fit the 16 gauge and 20 gauge 870's?
16, I have no idea. The 20 gauge has specific mag tubes
How much was the kit? Also, what’s your barrel length?
18.5"
Where did you order from? I found one on ebay but it's $245....
Did you test to see if you can put 6 rounds into the magazine tube? Also, did you use the original Remington follower?
Basically, I'm asking if you had difficulty getting the original follower past the detents, in the end of the magazine tube?
I dremeled out the detents and the original follower allowed 6 six rounds.
@@ConfederateMafia when you dremeled it out dit it leave a hole?
CooL
Haw many rounds you add with that one?
Plus 2
Do you cut some of the spring off if it's too long? The instructions said you can.
I didn't have to.
when you dremeled it out dit it leave a hole?
No. Just the smooth sidewall of the mag tube.
so to clean the barrel and field strip it do you have to completely take off the extention?
Porter Aldous awesomeness. How did it end up working out. I have an old Remington 870 Wingmaster that looks brand new that I want to put an extension on. Congratulations!
The extension comes off because it’s holding the barrel in place.
Older 870’s don’t have detent
What mag extension is that?
is it only the aftermarket extensions that you need to dremmel the notch out with, or do the official mags need the same?
The guns that come with the factory extensions don't have the dimples that need removing.
The older 870’s don’t either.
@@jmedi5589 How old of a model 870 doesn't have those dimples ? Mine is an early 90's model 870 Magnum Special Purpose 12 ga. 21 in. barrel real tree camo and I wanna add an extension mag tube as well to come out even at the barrel also !!!
Shoot, I don’t own mine anymore but I want to say that when I looked up the seria number it dated around ‘92. So yours might not have the dimples.

is it absolutely necessary to dremel the detents in the stock mag tube?
Henry Wong Yes.
XS Sights makes a detent swage tool so you don't have to dremel.
What's the name of the part
Capo jay , where can I find this exact tube extension
Gun broker and ebay. They no longer make these. Gun now holds 6+1
@@ConfederateMafia thanks for your response.
Capo, do you know is this extension fit on Rock island x4 shotgun?
Man, I couldn't say. Not sure the thread pattern or the diameter are the same.
@@ConfederateMafia , thanks for responding!
do they make the extension in a blued finish?
Yes they do. I’m about to buy one for mine.
What size barrel do you have on that shotgun?
18 inch
Thank you; Looks Great!
+Charles Catt You bet, anytime
Where is this purchased? Cant find it online
Got it at a local shop
is that a 20 inch barrel ?
Ivan Cazessus 18.

Any luck??
Look myself. Optic’s plant has a few options!!
I'm new to this channel and I'm sick of the 870 videos get a new shotgun sir.
Jodys Bangin your girlfriend It's ok. I know the owner. I can probably get you your money back.
Capo Jay lmao
How many rounds did this add on?? What size in inch’s is the extension you mounted??
Do you know if this will work with a Winchester SXP
Not sure but I doubt Remington and Winchester tubes will interchange
