My lovely mother got me a little one of these that was sort of an Aliens ripoff. Even thought it was a "stupid game" and only fun for 5 minutes the sentiment meant a lot and I wish I still had it.
If you said the Mk1 VW Rabbit/Golf is a beautiful car I can agree. Owned 2 myself, still have the GTi. And my very good childhood friend has 3 (4 door, pickup, parts pickup). Learned recently that as designed it had square headlights. Pretty ones, not what we got in the US.
It even says so in the title of the ebay listing... Tiger licensed everything that wasn't fast enough to hide once the lights were switched on back in the 90s.
For inductors you can do it with resistance and capacitance measurement and some math but for a couple quid you have a component tester that does everything for you. You should get one.
Just a thought: With a resistor, the only thing that being "in circuit" would do is decrease the resistance. There's no way to increase resistance by putting a resistor in circuit. Also, you really know how to troll people with OCD, don't you! You get the tip of your tweasers all mucked-up with green goo and then you go poking other perfectly clean components with it. By the way, I have grown to really enjoy your videos. Thanks for the consistently good content over the years.

You could do with an LCR Meter for measuring inductance. I have a set of palm size instruments from Peak Electronics and I highly recommend them. You get a lot of test instrument for not much money, even better if you get the two instrument packs as you get a free carry case and spare battery. I've got a few Systema (the cheap versions of the Grandstand games I guess) and Grandstand LCDs you can have if you say you collect them? I only bought them to fix for video content and I'm nearly done with them. You might not be interested in them if they're fully working so that can be my excuse for failure if I fail haha.

You can get cheap component testers, will test transistors, caps, resistors and inductors If you don't know what value it 'should' be, it will at least tell you if it's a short or if it has inductance ;)

I feel like returning this to life could only result in dire consequences, like opening the Ark, or greenlighting another movie with Larry the Cable Guy in it.

That’s hot glue coated heat shrink. Stuff’s awesome. It’s supposed to melt. But yes, technically melted it.

Coils are rated in Henrys and you can buy little testers that can properly test inductors.

To test inductors for more than coninutiy/resistance, use a component tester and they show you how much Henry the inductor has.
