Just a note for your fanbase. Guarding your stripped holes and helicoils. Using studs makes things much gentler on threads. And yes if in a pinch, you can use one stud and the remaining bolts. Of course it's best to use complete sets of one or the other to achieve true equal torque value and load. But sometimes things get over thought, when really an easy solution is available. Love this channel, love the videos, keep it up. Youngest daughter, my next up-and-coming hot-rodder loves his channel

Very nice job guy's, I can relate to the Nova build. I worked at a salvage yard in my teens and early twenties. I ran a 70 Nova drag car and a 67 Camaro street car. I owned about 170 68-74 Nova's in a 2 year span. I always had a few for sale. I would take all of the nice parts and put together nicer V8 cars. And then put together six cylinder car's and sold them cheap for daily drivers. They all were painted flat black, I bought it by the 5 gallon bucket, I also used some matte clear on the better cars. I sure wish I would have kept a few of them. but that was almost 40 years ago. Keep up the good work and I will keep watching or just keep posting and I'll watch anyway.

Car is looking and sounding good.👍👍Little tip on fluid filled gauges. When they get warm they read low so don’t crank up fuel pressure trying to compensate. Get a non fluid filled gauge to monitor fuel pressure and install a return style regulator. Regulate after the carbs, Dial in that suspension and you will see that 108 you’re shooting for.

I have 1975 Nova with a 383 small block motor. I'm a fan of the 327 chevy small block. I have one I should have built quite a while ago. I study your video and I see a few thIngs wrong. 1.a 327 has no torque down low its a rpm motor try 6,000 rpm for your hole shot. 2. The way you shift that 4speed car needs to be upgraded in your shifting technique. Put the gas pedal to the for and keep it there. Learn how to kick the clutch in. Kick the clutch in and slide your foot of the pedal the spring will return the pedal back faster than your leg will. I had to learn how to power shift my 340 duster with 3speed trans. Stock factory motor I would leave the line at 6,000 rpms with street tires or slicks. The rear you have in that nova may not stay together long. You need to spin and burn and move all at same time. You need just enough traction to move the car. 327 torque comes from rpm being on the high side around 6,000rpm. A motor like needs a heavier flywheel 40 or 50lbs to help you leave the hole. 4.56 gear will make that motor scream if you have the right cam in it. Try a one inch spacer or your manifold .I like quadrajet carb if you get the right person to work on it and set it up. Im going to put the time and money to get my car ready to go the track for test and tune. Keep up the good work. Greg Christopher from NJ.

Should have spent the bucks to get a pair of Trick flow heads for the hi revin 327. Them 327s don't really get moven until they hit 7,500rpm. Also vacuum 2eds never work for beans. The biggest problem I see is the 2ed to 3ed gear shift, the car hoppin all over the place. I cured that problem with a set of old slapper bars.

While working for Booth-Arons engines in Berkley mi. I recall Wally Booth explaining how they destroked a (if memory serves me) 390-401 cid AMC Pro Stock engine to 377 and maybe even to 343 cid and Still made 700HP ! You need to get fresh air to that motor your chocking it with that under hood air cleaner !!! Get a taller air cleaner cut a hole the size of the air cleaner in the hood and put a good functional hood scoop on that hood !!! Bringing the outside better air in will do wonders for that motor !!! When it rains put a plug in it or DON'T drive it in the rain !!!! On the drag strip take the air cleaner off and put an air pan on it !!!! Poor man's supercharger !!!! That works so good you usually have to jet it up a couple of sizes !! Can pick up as much as 1-2 tenths and 2-3 more mph !!!! I did it with my hi-performance 400 !!! Was running 12.70s put on scoop and air pan on carb with a nice size hole it ran a high 12.72 @ 106.2 mph breaking up !!! Went up 4 jet sizes square ran a 12.54 @ 108.7 mph !!! Also ran more consistent and smooth as glass and purring like a kitten !!!!! Your 14.35 might end up a 14.12 at 97-98 mph by doing That !!!! Traction bars ??? Would love to see it run 13s with simple changes !!!! You definitely need to get some consecutive runs in to experiment and tune it properly !!!! A .480 comp cams hydraulic with lifters solid push rods the right springs increase the exhaust valve size only if 1.94 - 1.50s to 1.60 if stock compression put valve guides and 7/16 screw in studs and 1.6 true roller rockers with poly locks a single plain intake ( a team G ) 2500 - 6500 rpm a 750 dbl pumper and an HEI with 6A MSD Box and a blaster 2 coil 8 mm wires and a 10" pro street converter you would be staring at the 12s !!!!! An excellent affective combination for that particular car !!!! Maybe in the future a 16 gallon fuel cell in the trunk ??? If stock compression 2.02 would actually hurt it but you would make increased with the better exhaust !!!! I raced a 12 second to 9.0 car over a 20 plus years of my life and spent a lot of time helping younger guys learning bigger isn't always better it's the proper combination that works the best according to your particular application !!!! Not trying to tell you what to do just want to give you the easiest and cheapest combo that I know to put it in the 12s without touching the bottom end !!! Maybe a good hi volume oil pump with a 6 qt pan !! I want to see you successful and help you if I can !!!! You have a 72 Nova one of the most popular old school cars of our time !!!!!! I myself played with a 73 Vega and @ 60 years old still remember those challenging and enjoyable accomplishments of wonderful success !!!!! I miss those days but I live them thru you and would want to help you any way I could I!! I wish you tremendous luck on all your horsepower endeavors !!!!!

About shifting timing . An old man that worked for Chrysler told me 5hat the exceptional long throw on the 833a gearbox was done on purpose because the engineers studied average drivers and the found that their hands moved faster then the leg could push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor. So the long throw helped the hand slow down. Has anyone ever heard this before?

I've never seen a car bounce like that at the track.. mechanical secondary carbs are better for manual shift. Vac. Secondary are for automatics. Your lean spot is probably the vacuum secondary carburetor. I never use those carbs anymore. Especially if you have a bigger cam with lower vacuum. Or stick shift.

Good ear. It's an M20 so the 3-4 drop is significant, like 40% vs. 20% in the other gears, it's more of a highway trans. An M21/22 would have a better drop in ratios for racing but eventually this thing is going to get highway gears again anyway.

Suggestion get an in-car fuel pressure gauge !! You can get a reading while your going down the track ! So you have an electric pump on the Nova ??? I would suggest a Holley blue pump with a regulator . just FYI !!

I was lazy !! Only used turbos or glides !!! Would love to know the details of both the Nova and the Studebaker ??? What rear if it has frame connectors stuff like that !!!!! I just love the Nova !!! No interior you can play with it anyway you want it's great !!!!

4-speeds are inconsistent and horsepower robbers !! M-22s are decent but Thee one to find if your into 4-speeds is a borg-warner super T-10 !!! Good shifters also make a big difference !!! The part I hate MOST about 4 speeds is dealing with and getting The right clutch and spring and pedal combination !!! I myself was a powerglide guy !!!! One shift and a great competition 8 inch converter !!!! If I may suggest in the future putting in a motor and mid-plate in it eliminating the worthless factory motor mounts !!!! No more header interference and chance of your drive train assembly getting bonded up or cracked bell housings !!! Just some FYI !!!

This car is actually going more in the direction of a street machine but I appreciate your input.

Are you in the US or Canada ??? Just curious because I was trying to determine what dragstrips you were running .

I do believe that going down in c.i. does not produce more power ! Maybe more rpm depending on the cam but never a broad power band change !!!! Bigger compression or more airflow may help but cu. in. always out powers cu. in. in most cases !!! A straight 327 will not out power a straight up 350 with same components !!! WON'T happen !!! You have to out build the bigger motor !!!!
