@@TheJazzucator That's the true test , Im sold .Im a Trumpet major and guitar minor . hi again Craig, great playing and nice sound !.You have talent !. But, because of you and also Georges Benson 🤨, yesterday, i bought the same guitar, and I am love with it too, but I have a question, if you can answer me... My GB 10 Se is « Out of the box », and I would like to lower the height of the strings a little (Action), the neck is straight, i Checked, It’s oK, but how do you do it?, can I use the thumbscrews which are on each side below of the bridge, are they made for this use?, I'm afraid of changing the intonation, or that the strings are too close to the neck pickup, etc…well How did you go about it? . Thank you in advance for your feedback, of you have the Time. Patrick
Hi Patrick Thanks for your kind words. Yes, I used the screws to lower the action. It doesn’t affect the intonation. The other two screws on the tail piece can be used to put downward pressure on the strings. This creates a firmer feel for a bit more resistance. I loved the bell like qualities of the 11 chromes and tried other gauges. The guitar was happy with all of them and no truss rod adjustment was necessary. In my recording of So What I am using the original strings. In this recording and my last two, I am using Georg Benson 14s. I like these because I am heavy handed with a plectrum and you get a wider dynamic range without twang. Also, you can get much lower action with heavier strings. The downside is that bending is difficult.
Craig, your Gb10se is the warmest one in all youtube! I bought it but I’m still dialing with it to get this tone. I think the original strings doesn’t help. I’m planning to restring it with some thomastik 11. What do you think about it? Cheers
Hi Ricardo On this particular tune, I am using Thomasik GB 14 strings. On a video of Summertime I went back to the Chrome 11s but had to roll off the tone to try and get the warmth.
The neck is super comfy. Fractionally thicker than my PRS Zack Myers. I have the action set very low. It comes with 11 chromes and I have gone to gb14s and back, without needing to adjust the truss rod.
@@davidkelly831 there is a chap on either the GB10 Facebook page or the Ibanez archtop page who owns 2 Japanese ones and the se version which is now Indonesian. I asked him the same question and he said the were pretty much the same. I should say though, that mine had two frets that needed levelling. The guitar is stunning and comfortable and when I recorded So What with it, I felt that it was the sound I wanted. It has a great dynamic and tonal range before you even start with the volume and tone controls. Out of the box, I found the acoustic sound too new and brittle, input it quickly began to develop that tight plummy sound that I was getting through the lick ups straight away.
Tone is so warm and piercing. A special guitar.
It has been inspiring me for 15 months. 🎸❤🎵
Awesome stuff, Craig! It's one of those tracks that you just have to keep coming back to, and you play it beautifully!

@@TheJazzucator Hi Craig, Thank you very much for your response, it’s nice of you to take the time.
I remember trying to get as much information as possible about the guitar. I still stare at pictures of them even though I own one now. 😀@@Rrc36381
