With Haaland strength and pace…direct and quicker play and counter attacks really favors him

      It favours City

@@egoi6421 Considering most teams won't have a go at you, it doesn't really.

So good seeing us go direct & take advantage of counter opportunities, fed up of seeing Liverpool, arsenal winning so many games being direct while we struggle to break down every team with our “controlled” style

Our lethargic and predictable slow build up helps teams make a good defensive setup, forcing them to play low block hence making it difficult for us to score

Maybe it was just Luton …but city has been struggling of late with almost every team in the league. The difference is we played quicker and catching Luton on the break really helped. Luton didn’t open up as you’re claiming…our lethargic build up play would have helped them take good shape and solidify their defense which we didn’t do this time around.

Nunez sometimes plays like a headless chicken 😂. And also he’s not helping the team defensively of late.

KDB and Haaland are the best double act since Laurel and Hardy.

Kovacic did the job filling in for Rodri, but the fall off in quality is so evident. This isn’t a knock on Kova, it’s a testament to how irreplaceable Rodri really is.

I do think Nunez is much better higher up the pitch. I know he's raw, but I love his energy & bursts of speed & he doesn't mind going direct

I think Nunes played great against Luton. Look at the "pitch camera" at City's homepage and see. I think Rodri is slowing down the attack for City. Stones is better.

So it is Pep fault that we have lost games, even drawn, by not employing the quick movement and counter attacking game exhibited at Luton?

The scary thing is that Haaland could have scored more. The true test will be in the derby this Sunday. It's too bad their striker is not available because it would have been quite the spectacle.

my theory as a city fan: pep's job is to infuse a contagion to the zen style of play that de bruyne has. it's a spark, a magic that travels by osmosis. i know it sounds a little bit woo woo, but that's what i see. kdb has it in spades. players like stones, rodri, ruben diaz, bernardo silva, they have all had that spark for a while. top physical form and impeccable skill are prerequisites but those are just the building blocks. that's where most clubs end the training and that's where city's baseline is. it is probably unteachable and probably does not get openly addressed. it's entirely possible that foden doesn't see it because he's only ever played for city and possesses it so manifestly that he has yet to learn that others play without it. doku has caught on very quickly. grealish took a while but gets it now. kovacic and gvardiol are slow to understand it. akanji and ake learned it very quickly. walker struggles, and leans on skill a bit too much. nunes now knows what he's looking for, and can find it some of the time. once he lets go and lets the game happen the way the others do, look out.

Kovatic has been an excellent signing and settled in immediately?

      Nah.
City's football is beautifully structured and controlled. Guardiola's juego de posicion works on that basis.
Real Madrid are what you're thinking of. Their football is far more organic and loose than City's.
Not necessarily more effective, as we saw in the semi final last season and arguably in the one the season before, where City were manifestly better against a Madrid side who took all their chances in both legs, but definitely less rigid than the way we play.

Thought nunes was horrific! Especially first half he had no drive to close down the ball with any intensity. Not happy with what we’ve seen from him so far
