His lineup today was absolutely shocking. U take Rico out of his best inverted RB position because Walker is the captain and has to suddenly start?? Rico in midfield doesn’t drive with the ball, doesn’t look for through balls, just plays backwards 1-2 touch passes 🥴 To not start Savinho or Doku or at least bring ‘em on for 30 minutes is inexcusable. What a difference when both came on especially Foden and Savinho. Pep really blew it badly today, two points lost vs a very average Newcastle team missing their best player/striker!!
@@CBear2682 nobody cares what he “originally” is or was fella. Bottom line is 99.9% of the time under Pep he’s played inverted RB and has played the position extremely well!! Today he played in midfield and was absolutely worthless!!
To be fair Omar has a point. I’m no idiot, been following city for 50 years. Gundo has been poor every time he’s played since he came back. Most people can see that. It doesn’t make them an idiot.
Gundogan was awful. How did he stay on that pitch for over an hour? Playing Bernardo as a right winger doesn't work due to him basically being left footed. He just passed the ball back every single time, not once did he take his man on or even cross the ball. I'm still sticking to making this walkers last season at city. The Rico Lewis idea sort of back fired too. Overall a pretty poor performance.
I’m going to be honest the lineup is inexcusable. Starting Walker in terrible form and Bernardo on the RW even thought he been ineffective there for the past 6 months is inexcusable
Rodri has hardly played this season, so it's more about building on the good start they had to the season, than building a team post-Rodri. A good thing about the first matches was that the channels were open for Haaland. But Pep has a short memory and easily falls back to his old ways of picking players more suited to his need for control than setting up Haaland with passes.
Another bad point. Our high pressing is awful. How many balls did we recover in opponents half? Nearly 0? Can we expect to win the UCL with this number?
On individuals, i believe Bernardo would be more helpful in a double pivot currently, than as a right winger. Please think about it. Play him as a no 6. Involve him more in the build-up phases from the back.
I'm a Newcastle fan but Pep is doing exactly what the opposition teams want! Not starting Foden is such a big mistake! Walker is just a liability even when he's having a decent game and lastly Bernando just offers nothing he didn't test Lewis Hall once!
Yeah, apart from the Silva thing I agree. Silva doesn't work on the wing, we all know this. As soon as he moved further into midfield, he nearly scored. How Pope kept that out is mad!
Either side could have won that game .... Newcastle missed chances, and might have had more penalties .....but Foden or Bernardo could have won it for City near the end.
Nice dive by Gordon, ref had to give it. I understand why we never signed more in the summer as we need to spend big so soon. Will see how we do this season
Well that was pretty scary tbh. If only KDB wasn't injured, that would have been much easier. Grealish was brilliant & got a good assist, Gvardiol was great throughout, but please Pep, don't stick Silva on the wing. He nearly scored when he moved 😅
To me, there is a very good point. I saw unsual things from our side when Newcastle was in low block (one-touch passes, one-touch shots "the Rodri way" by Akanji,...). This means we did our homework. We worked on these situations and we should continue actually. It will pay off soon.
I didn't panic…we had several draws last season and STILL went on to take the title. Based on our limited options on the pitch against Newcastle, and take into account they gave the team a bit of a kicking on the pitch not too far off what Arsenal did to us. We were lucky to not lose Grealish. We have no De Bryune, No Rodri, No Bobb…and yet we still didn't lose. All this meant was Liverpool go top for a week, and its still early-season, so its still a top 4 team race…We've been here before, its nothing new, no need to panic, the table looks fine….
One moment in the second half Foden did an amazing turn and passed it perfectly to Rico Lewis in space edge of the area but Lewis took a heavy touch but he shouldn't be in that position Lewis should be RB and Gundogen or Bernando in the centre role
last year we were down 2-1 until KDB magic happend..........1-1 away is respectable. plus i never saw a replay was Gordon possibly off side? sure looked like it
Agree Steven, people overreacting but my worry is that KDB is pretty much done at this level. He’ll be in and out is the squad all season and we all knew it in the summer. Our midfield is looking a bit dated.
I stand to be corrected but our last home PL defeat was to City last season in January 2024. So a point is probably a decent result for you all things considered.
I think Dias should be dropped tbh shame Ake is injured because him and Akanji are a great partnership but Dias misses so many chances to pass it forward and it does have a huge impact on games even Ally on commentary picked it out
We are not winning since Walker is playing. Strange? I don't think so. You don't change a winning team. And Rodri wasn't playing when we won our games.
Gonna be fun when Arsenal beats Newcastle comfortably 3-0 at st James park 😮 I can see pep either leaving without winning anything in his last season or become the thanos meme we won but at what cost, not win anything which angers pep to sign a new contract.
Gundogan has not settled in yet foden should have been playing in his position I think there was a question mark over that penalty but at least we still have a clean sheet
Look pep is probably the goat but you you guys don’t see the bigger picture and it’s haaland he’s the problem city players are scared to shoot mainly because he wants haaland scoring goals and foden ain’t having that. A younger pep would not start haaland and gundogan is a clutch player come the end of season
bro thinks he can gaslight people ...the line up was shit..Gundo had a stinker ..Pep got it all wrong today..dont be positive for the sake of it..call things out as you see them

Good tactics from pep, Newcastle dived for the penalty and the ref gave in.
Calm down
Buddy, Rico is originally a midfielder. Get to know your players.

My understanding is that Foden is not fully match fit after the Euros etc.

I wasn’t convinced with the line up
to begin with. Look a draw isn’t a
horrible result at all. So will take a
point and move on to the next one
I think Dias should be dropped tbh shame Ake is injured because him and Akanji are a great partnership but Dias misses so many chances to pass it forward and it does have a huge impact on games even Ally on commentary picked it out
Dias has won four in a row
We are not winning since Walker is playing. Strange? I don't think so. You don't change a winning team. And Rodri wasn't playing when we won our games.
Gundo hasn't found his form since coming back. A draw was the right result
gundo's always got better as the season goes on though
Lets worry in February........long way to go
Gundo is world class
