You have unwittingly answered the age old question that comes from every struggling student "When will I ever use algebra in my life?", to which all teachers may now say: "So you can time your torpedoes to all hit their targets at the same time!"
If math had been presented to me in High School under the context of formulating torpedo solutions as a Kreigsmarine officer, I would've paid more attention
Disclaimer; Red actually just rows over and headbutts the enemy ships. The weight of his massive brain handily caves in their hulls lol Nice shooting, Red!
Gonna watch this over and over. So it's basically find out their speed, the distance and set the right speed of your torpedoes to make them collide. Plus the 2 seconds in-between launching fish of the game. I was impressed you were able to hit the 2 traveling parallel to each other by firing at separate times knowing the speed of your fish. Well done.
Damn this guy doesn't just manually target three freighters and hit them but all within a few seconds of each other. That was amazing! I definitely need to up my game from letting the crew calculate and shoot
Red, after watching your tutorial videos i've gotten way more acurate at my shots, and actually understand more of the geometry of how it all works! You make it sound so simple lol. And I understand your employment situation, had the same thing happen back in 2009 and I really feel for you. Subscribed and refering you to all my friends online. Good luck and hope things turn around quick!
This is a great start thank you for posting. I'll add you to my twitch. I've been trying to learn the hard core mode which means that my navigation mapDoesn't show positions.
I actually bought the game 2 days ago but was to afraid to the shooting part since it’s my first submarine game … the tutorial is bugged so it can’t help me so you’re videos are welcome I’ll watch them all !
Thank you so much for the awsome tutorials. Really liked and enjoyed the videos. You're doing an awsome job explaining everything. Keep up the great work
Sorry for the wait on this one. Bonus points if you recognize the guy in the thumbnail! ALSO here is the calculator I was using: rechneronline.de/ship/
The movie IS Hunt for Red October. This is Vasili Borodin, second in command of the Russian Sub. Played by Sam Neil. He WAS in fact offered the role of James Bond but turned it down. So SPOT ON!
Did you put the calculation spread sheet you talked about in 13:45? I am new with UBoat. You stated you will be doing that 11 months ago. I have not seen it yet. Thank you
This is goof but it would be nice to include some of the formulas even if just in the description. I googled some of the units I hope it's the same in game
Great vidio sunk 4 transports using no periscope using this method. Cool note i fired the torpedoes at a depth of 21 meters. Wondering know how deep i could be to fire a torpedo
Would you be willing to share the spreadsheet you use? I have been trying to develop one of my own and it's fairly accurate but I would be interested to see how you did it.
I plan to soon. I have been meaning to get it up as a google sheet so it’s a bit easier to share but the new job has shaken up my day to day schedule (and sleep schedule). I will get it to you all a soon as I can!
Hey red, you mentioned a spread sheet you are using, is there any way for you to share it? I would like a plug in calculator so I don’t need to do all the math every time.
You can do it without calculating the lead. The steps in this video are not at all necessary to sink ships in the game. Just some more detailed steps for the insane people out there. Calculating only the speed course and distance should get you good results.

Ive never wanted a torpedo to miss a target so much in my life. Nail biting stuff that first launch.

Excellent video. I'm not great at math, but between you and Salted, I get the concepts and just need to practice. Thanks for posting.
Glad it was helpful!

It's a perk of being a huge nerd lol

Radjinn Alucard thanks a lot! I am back at a previous job and am enjoying it. Glad the videos helped.
That was beautiful!!!
I'm simple throwing at the garbage my saves. I will start all over again using proper math.
Thanks for the teachings.

Good stuff Red - was hoping you would show something like this! Spreradsheets @ sea! lol Thanks for sharing. Good luck w/ the real world stuff.

It's better to draw out course heading with the protractor because you can get that exact angle again then extend your line.
Thank you so much for the awsome tutorials. Really liked and enjoyed the videos. You're doing an awsome job explaining everything. Keep up the great work
I wish you the best of luck and really hope you are able to turn this channel into something that is able to cover your daily living costs.
Pretty cool video! Thanks!

It's Merlin!
RedDragon1211 you didn’t post the spreadsheet you use for the torpedo spread
@@chaserk2185 (SCREAMING!) it will be in the description and pinned comment in a moment
Okay buddy
Looking to use it it’ll be helpful for me
Thanks mate very informative and you have just made the game just that more interesting to play.... Now look out!!!
Love to see a copy of your spreadsheet
Its so beautiful
Nice vids, keep going please! :)
If i manage to get one hit while manually targeting im happy
Hoping to see more mission/game streams. Thx!
Both you and @Lite_ly Salted deserve way more subscribers! Please keep up the videos!!!! Enjoy all of them!
isn't he from the film red oktober (or the hunt of ") either that or he was a james bond variant i think
james bond actor even

RedDragon1211 i knew it i saw the film a few days ago
Great video, but I think I missed something: how fast do the torpedoes travel? Is there a difference in speed between T1, T2, T3 torps... etc.?
They all are set to 30 knots (standard) you can change the speed, depth and spread at the bottom of the launch window.
Did you put the calculation spread sheet you talked about in 13:45? I am new with UBoat. You stated you will be doing that 11 months ago. I have not seen it yet. Thank you
It all makes sense

Wow😮
Can you make that spreed sheet available through google docs?

@@RedDragon_1211 would welcome this as well, I'm not sure what U-Boat noob is in German but thats me! 😆

How did you come up with 430 meter at 20:17? What calculation did you do here?
Hey red, you mentioned a spread sheet you are using, is there any way for you to share it? I would like a plug in calculator so I don’t need to do all the math every time.
Hugo Weaving or Sam Neal
Sam Neil as captain vasili borodin from Hunt for Red October
For once I'm going to use math.
you sound like Jordan Belfort
For some reason the maps don’t have the horizontal and vertical lines in the video….
yes. unfortunatly they removed these many patches ago.
@@RedDragon_1211 I was trying to follow this guide lol and did my best to make lines straight and all my torpedoes missed
Do you have to aim the ship to give it lead? Or do you just calculate range, speed and course and release?
You can do it without calculating the lead. The steps in this video are not at all necessary to sink ships in the game. Just some more detailed steps for the insane people out there. Calculating only the speed course and distance should get you good results.
Can anybody make tutorial videos that are not 30 minutes of talking about redundant things? like jesus your not teaching calculus, its a game!
Thanks for checking out the video! 😏
Technically he is using calculus and algebra to figure out this stuff
way over complicating this
Works for me
Can you elaborate this into simplicity, everybody would be interested!
