Your comment absolutely resonates with how I feel about Nationals Hinata. Unlike many main shounen characters who further develop an already crafted move like the Rasengan, Getsuga Tenshou or Gum Gum Attacks, there's a huge focus on Hinata broadening his skills and being more than just an attack force.
@@_capu But then they start to overuse those moves and we barely see them learn anything else. I've only seen Naruto use 4 Jutsu ever in a battle and that's Rasengan (and it's variations), Summoning Jutsu, Shadow Clone Jutsu and Tailed Beast Cloak (if you want to count that). Whereas everyone else has an arsenal of Jutsu. Ichigo is even worse. All he used were Flash Step, Getsuga Tenshou and the Hollow mask.

@@penguin2985 He's an asshole because he has something to prove to both himself and Ushijima. That he has enough work put into the team to beat those that are truly talented.
Season 2 is the best season for sure but I gotta say there are moments in the manga that arent animated that I think are just as good as S2 if not better, character development wise. Especially for Hinata and Kageyama
Interesting video and I totally agree with you. Season 1 was great, but when Season 2 hits, that's when I am hooked on the series. This video deserves a lot of views tbh, hope this channel can grow tremendously! :>
Season 2 has the Hinata-Kageyama explosive fight, the Tokyo training camp, and the rematch against Seijouh. It's the best season so far. Although season 3 was amazing as well.
Season 3 is also good but i think its like the same with season 1. Kinda like an opening to the nationals, bc hinata will be able to meet the coach of shiratorizawa, who is the same with hinata - the small volleyball player
Do you read the manga? Hinata has become a beast these last few chapters! Also, your analysis was perfect! I agree 100%. Tsukki's block was incredible!
Absolutely. Hinata's developement has been insane. He went from a guy who couldn't even spike with his eyes open to someone who can do amazing things against one of the best teams in the country. I can only imagine what a beast he'll be in his second year...
Karasuno HAD to lose to Seijoh the first time around because it would just be boring if they beat every single team out of nowhere. There'd be no development.
this video made me realize and understand what Oikawa said to Kageyama while Hinata was training witih coach Ukai(the grandfather).......THANKS ALOTTTT
You said so eloquently why Season 2 is so damn good. It was already my favorite season (I haven't seen season 4 yet, so that may change), and at least was able to say I liked it so much because its focus was more on character development and interactions. Everyone was changing here and becoming closer together. They made new friends and rivals in the new teams, the start of seriously great friendships. We saw them hanging out and acting like regular teenagers more beyond their club (you have no idea how much I freaked when I saw Hinata and Kenma were texting each other -- I can name on one hand how many big anime that supposedly take place in the present day actually have characters do something as casual and normal as text each other if it wasn't plot-relevant; nobody does it just because that's what teens do; you could cut that scene out and lose nothing plotwise), and learn from those around them. It was heartwarming, hilarious, and just so damn good of a watch.

Got recommended this video in may 2020 and its amazing... Great video with in my opinion a perfect analysis. Moments like these are why Haikyuu hits people hard emotionally!
Great insight. Great editing to sync music with the theme of what you are talking about. Great voice, pronunciation and emphasis on important words to make your analysis all the more interesting. You did it, you just got another sub, hope your quality never drops.
The hype on Haikyuu is usually what people like to gush over but after their first loss to Oikawa the emotion and desire to improve was just so powerful. I’m glad the writer took the chance to let the wind out of their characters sails and gave the series room to breathe
Owww when I thought about the moment that made the anime great was exactly this loss. The moment was build up for a win but the loss came first. They had dinner in silence and crying their frustration.
Dude you are so on point!! That block made this show more than just another sport shonen. It gave us true heart break, filled by growth. Which paired with the amazing visuals and soundtrack have solidified me as an anime only for this series(which is quite rare for me). I just can’t imagine getting the same intensity and impact from the manga. Keep up the great reviews/deep dives👍
Ik this video is 2 years old, but I just gotta say, Haikyuu is the BEST show I’ve ever seen to handle the concept of growth. Season 2 highlights it the most, but throughout the whole series you see the characters develop little by little. Many shows don’t have very much growth in their characters at all, and many times it goes unnoticed. I think this is because, in life, people don’t want to acknowledge change, but in sports, it’s expected. Players are meant to improve their skills, and meant to develop connections to their teammates. They’re supposed to evolve to overcome what’s before them, therefore, the people around them are forced to acknowledge the change. It always brings a reaction from the other characters, and the viewers are satisfied because they could see behind the scenes and knew all along. I think Haikyuu has a great setup for this kind of growth-driven story, it being a sports anime, and builds up from that to deliver some of the best development I’ve seen, whether that be improvement of skills or in growth of character. What’s best of all (to me at least) is that they use the growth that the characters have made in practice to get the viewers HYPE for the matches. You get to see everything they’ve worked on come together, strengthening the team, and you get to see the reaction of opponents and observers. You never know how a match will end, but you always know it’s gonna be good. (Season 3 does this so well) So, if you’re not yet convinced to watch haikyuu, I’m telling you, you won’t be disappointed. Go watch it. (You have no idea how hard it was to not spoil anything lol)
This is really good analysis of Haikuyuu, I mostly love the character dynamics and the development so I didn’t notice the amazing skill growth and such so thank you for that.
after watching this and finishing the manga, man....it's just amazing to see how much they have grown. Hinata is learning how to receive like a boss, kageyama is just AMAZING, noya just clutching every fucking game like he some god or some shit, daichi just being the most diverse player on the court, asahi showing what an ace is and just nailing them serves using percentages to determine his power....and honestly my favorite (as you can tell by my avatar) the moon himself, tsuki. This man just grew sooo much in the series and the manga really lets him develop even more. this man uses his brain like no one else on that court and I just love how he shuts down spiker by looking at them with that god darn annoying but so amazing smirk.
Ok…I’m like a minute into the video and I have watched hq a million times over, yet I saw the clip of Karasano losing to Seijo and I reeled back, my hands to my head, as if I had never seen it coming. I’m still overwhelmed with emotions from this anime and it will forever remain one of my favourites
Until the 3rd season came along, I was consistently re-watching season 2 for exactly the reasons you said! The character development is undeniable. The team grows by leaps and bounds, and it is thrilling to watch. 🏐❤🥰
Found this video from r/anime and I'm glad I did. A very well made video of one of my favorite animes. Looks like I got a new anituber to binge for a while :)
Thank you for this video When I tell people how I love THIS specific season, they usually say it is pretty slow and doesn't show much until the spring tournament But every little thing the players learned... Seeing hinata looking at the ball and Kageyama improving himself even more, and the other players also training and discovering new abilities and tecninques... Each scene creating a crazy hype to see how all of this will work together (and then comes that episode where everything works out and you are filled with satisfaction besides their loss) is amazing!
this show is truly incredible. the story is great, but the real reason i love it so much and it’s my favourite anime is because of the games (and also the characters, because if they were just random people it definitely wouldn’t have the same effect). i don’t know about other people but for me whenever i watch them play official games, my heart starts beating, i feel exhilarated and excited, and during match points or teams both having won 1 set, i feel so tense, like i’m actually playing the game.
Great analysis! I loved the points you brought up in this video and look forward to more Haikyuu discussions from you since there's just so much you can talk about :)
Season 4 here we go! Even more improvement from Hinata as he uses his insane agility to try and receive. Although it doesn’t work out like he thought, he manages to get to the ball and the whole team is surprised!
I subscribed for Hyouka and now I'm getting my other favourite anime too.... What more could I ask for XD. I'm the same when it comes to choosing my favourite season. Season 2 is my favourite despite season 3 being more hyped. Season 2 had so many great moments not only in terms of characterisation of main team but also for other teams and relationships they had with them. Thanks for the video and as always, will be waiting for more.
Watching Haikyuu as a volleyball player at first was weird but as they started applying real things like the different plays n stuff it got really good and it honestly motivated me to bring my team to state this year lol
Spoiler warning! This video becomes even more relevant after the last point against Inarizaki. The twins made exactly the same mistake our freak duo did against Aoba Johsai. Pulling the predictable super quick in a match point when under pressure. Either consciously or unconsciously, that's what gave them the edge. Man, such great story telling.
in season two, literally every single game.... shoyo is the last one to spike. EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. this made me wonder if shoyo would ever be taken out and what tf they would do??!?!?!?!?!!
I wouldn’t say that, even though I absolutely loved season 2, the third one kept me way more on the edge of my seat. The amazing excitement it build, the inclusion of beloved characters, although they weren‘t playing (speaking about iwaizumi and oikawa) and the stunning music that was chosen made season 3 almost my favourite of the show. (I must admit I do slightly like the second better as well, simply because it felt a lot more lighthearted) I wasn‘t disappointed with it at all!
@@majora5651 yea when i got into season 3 it was good like you said it eventually it was like almost up there but it was also kinda of like they really jumped into season 3 immediately with the game while some people of course had to wait between season 2 and 3 didnt and kinda needed a brake from the hype so to say as season 2 was so impactfull and then jump into the impactfull season 3 then its hard to keep that hype going for so long
stefan broers Well yeah that‘s true. Actually I would‘ve liked it too if they did some kind of story or training thingy like they did with the start of season two, but I guess that wasn‘t possible since timeline wise season three takes place the day after the second ended
I dont think so. The most important moments where when every one in the training camp decide to risk the team play and balance for evolving and ofc the last point vs shiratorizawa
Drago Djordje why do you think they risk that so they could evolve? Because they were still weak, losing that match showed them that and so they did whatever they could to improve, if they won that game they for sure wouldnt of gotten into nationals I can practically promise you that
@@massman1216 dude with this öogic u can say anything... "but why they they lose vs seijoh first match cause they play volleyball" so the first episode is the most important mske no sense dude everything in the show leads somewhere.
Great video, but a point of criticism- failure is not the greatest teacher, self-reflection is. People fail all the time and never learn anything from it. Self-reflection allows you to learn and grow.
SPOILERS tho I'm not sure anyone taking the time to watch this video wouldn't already know about it. My friend was always super upset that they lost to Seijou in that first match at the end of the first season, but the thing about that match is it is a crucial piece to later in the series when they win against them. You can't set up the main protagonists to always win, otherwise, there's no tension; there's no excitement. Oikawa, as well as the Aoba Jousai team, are so amazingly written because when Karasuno is put up against them, you just feel this disdain for them, and whether that's because it's Oikawa and his nasty attitude setting up the mood for the rest of the team, or it's the fact all of Kageyama's old teammates who resent him are there, it's just as effective. Either way, they make for an aggressive rival team, which perfectly contrasts against the friendly nature of Nekoma.
'whenever i re-watch haikyuu! i start from season 2' i do the same thing. i never knew that was why. i just thought it was because season 1 is worse or season 2 is cooler
"Does loosing prove that you are weak? Isn't loosing difficult for all of you? A challenge where, after ending up on your hands and knees, you must see if you can stand up again? If you stay on your hands and knees, that proves that you are weak." - Takeda Ittetsu

You should read the anime then
for me season 2 was so good that season 3 felt underwhelming!
The moments it became great was the winning point against seijoh and the winning point against shiratorizawa
medicore reciever he was a pretty god awful reciever tbh at the beginning
It turned a great show into the 2nd best sports anime of all time
I like how the seasons after season 1 isn't trash unlike every other anime
Wait till you see the growth of season 4
I would beg to differ and say Tsukishima's block against Ushijima was pretty epic.
nice vid!
incredible video! completely agree
Great video, but a point of criticism- failure is not the greatest teacher, self-reflection is. People fail all the time and never learn anything from it. Self-reflection allows you to learn and grow.
Great to masterful for me
What’s the name of the song in the background that starts at 2:44
Adults - Haikyuu!! OST Vol. 2 - Yuki Hayashi
The Greatest Decoy is coming in the new season~~😘
can you make a video on why kageyama wasnt accepted into saijo for his lack lack of teamwork but mad dog did get in
Btw theres atleast a good 20 balls or so in the animation that spin a lot that would be called a double which gives the point to the other team
damn.. i love this show so much.
*The Strongest Decoy*
"Does loosing prove that you are weak? Isn't loosing difficult for all of you? A challenge where, after ending up on your hands and knees, you must see if you can stand up again? If you stay on your hands and knees, that proves that you are weak." - Takeda Ittetsu
Why am I crying
I love the fact that hinata at this point is the weakest link in the starting line and while the other seasons it was subtle season 4 made it clear as heck that hinata needs to improve
What is the background song starting @2:40 with the piano?
This may be too late but still
