I've had my D808 for some months now and it's a cracking little set. It lives either in my backpack for when I'm out and about or next to the bath when I'm listening to the football. Lasts forever on a full charge and even does a decent job on airband.
I have two of these D-808 radios for years, a Sihuadon and an XHDATA. They're both become drawer queens for some time and the black Sihuadon has since had its micro USB port fallen inside the compartment, while its volume pot became scratchy just after eight months. 🙁 If Fred had just bought this recently it should come with a USB-C charging port and a revamped RF front end circuit, with surface mounted filters instead of the old design, discrete filters. Fun facts: The D-808 is actually a derivative of the older Digitech AR-1780 sold in Australia, circa 2017. The AR-1780 runs on 4 AA batteries and have backlit buttons. The old model is also sold under the Deshibo brand in China. The user manual that accompanied the earlier XHDATA D-808 units was a copy & paste job from the AR-1780 instruction leaflet, which led to some confusion.
I got one of these a few months ago. Very impressive for the price, and way more capable than my old Sony ICF-SW7600 (though not as well built - not surprising). I got my D-808 direct from the XHDATA web store for about £60 which was the best price I could find. It has got me back down the rabbit hole of shortwave DXing - Oh no! 😂😂😂
I got this XHData in lockdown, after a long search for an affordable multiband radio, and I've not been dissapointed for the price (about £66 on offer at the time). I love the airband on it, and it does most thing pretty well. It's not failed me yet. Its not really a browsing radio for HF, as the muted tuning makes it tough to use over long periods, but so long as you already know what you're looking for, its difficult to beat in its class. Looking forward to the review!
Hi Fred, Your right it's a great little radio, had mine a couple a couple of years now and apart from a few thunder bugs inside the only let down is the missing of FM on the 27 meg band. 🤨
Mine is by my side most of the time. The receiver sensitivity is great even with the telescopic antenna when conditions are good and the plug in wire is even better. When it's too cold in the shack - curse the govts. winter fuel decision - then the 808 is my solace.
Hi Fred it’s paul i recently bought a K-po cb radio with Sideband from thunderpole but I seem to have a problem with it I can’t seem to transmit i was wondering if you could help me out in any way and how to use Sideband I would appreciate any help or assistance thanks Paul
The front panel control pcb went faulty and neither the seller not the company willing to share any details or support to restore it. Thus once faulty it goesto dustbin and entire money spent is 😊wasted.

It very impressive for the money.
If you’re into SW and SSB plus a nice quality airband with squelch, this is a must have set.
Thanks Fred, I like the Tecsun products from Ali Express, I love to listen to the Americans 👍
Look forward to the review this weekend Fred

Hi Fred how mad is that I ordered one last week, take care of yourself and yours. Alan.🇺🇲🇬🇧💯👍
I have this radio
I've seen in other reviews where it's difficult programming and finding features?
I would say that the buttons could be better labelled as its not always clear of their second function.
If the knobs were backlit it would be even a greater rafio.
Was after this for years
Keep them knob's warm

Hi. Will it transmit on FM ? Rem that you will only see the power meter swing when you talk as there is no carrier wave on SSB.
I heard some cajun in there.
I can't understand them folks on a good day.
i hear my buddy 148 mike in the bronx NYC he was the guy talking about double 7 on 28 lol
Not used it tho as yet
I can’t seem to transmit on anything the radio is programmed to fm.
Could be your in NFM and the radio is only WFM
Stay warm tho
Nooooo…. Fred…. 😢 Say it ain’t so! 😠😥
Please say this radio is just so-so- I don’t want to have to buy one
Sorry it works really well esp on SSB.
How do I get to wfm fred.
88-108 MHz only broadcast band.
I have one hardly used it

English England
Ats25-amp is better 😅
I like the ATS25 but this is a different type of radio.
Very old news🤣
I preferred the days when this was a CB channel and not mostly reviews of cheap Chinese radios every other week.
Times change bud. Got some CB stuff coming up though.
