I teared up when Derek praised single parents. I raised two girls with learning issues and ADHD while working full-time as a critical care RN. It's the toughest job but worth it. You did great Derek!

I raised 3 kids on my own. I became a widow at 37 when my youngest was just 2 yrs old. The other two were 8 and 12. Luckily for me I worked in our local middle school and knew all the people that worked in the other 4 schools. My kids had lots of Aunties, Uncles, grandmas, and grandpas to help look after them. My folks and my school family were my saving grace.
You are so lucky to have your brother and all your friends to help you out.
P.S...I'm kinda glad you're moving. You can't afford to have anything else stolen 😢

I just seen a comment dogging him cuz he had help in this video 🤬 I hope it's a kid that don't understand, it's unfortunate to see crap like that.. Mine is almost 18 & her father also passed away. For those ppl who are commenting how irresponsible Derek was for not locking up the bike....did you ever stop to consider that when a parent is focusing on something else...even for just a few seconds that it would have taken to lock that bike up, bad things can happen? Jack could have wandered off, gotten kidnapped, hit by a car etc it only takes a few seconds for the unthinkable to happen. Give the guy a break will ya? Keyboard warriors piss me off

Even though she left for work I'm glad she got to have time to cross things off her wish list. My son was born with a large hole in his heart and a bicuspid aortic valve. His hole closed on his own by the time he was 18 months old. He still has his valve issue. A normal valve section looks like a circle with a Y inside. This Y shape creates 3 chambers for the blood to pump through and by design is more “structurally sound” My sons valve is only divided into 2 so the “ interior diving wall” has to work a little harder. He’s 23 and is doing great. His blood oxygen is good, blood pressure everything. He might need a valve transplant in his older years. Valve transplants are now very common and are done telescopically. This is my heart baby story. I hope this brings you some comfort. I’m sure you are in good hands. - prayers your way 🙏🏼❤🥰

Derik - don’t sell yourself short! You did an amazing job of taking care of both kids by yourself, especially with a bad knee. As for the bike, you are keeping it in perspective. Someone stole the bike and Jack’s hat, they didn’t steal Jack and that is what matters.
I think all this bad stuff that is happening to you is God’s way of helping solidify your decision to move back to the mainland. It’s not fun, but you will come out the other side, better for these experiences.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I hope we get a video of Sarah and Lo’s NY trip. And Sunny if such a beautiful baby. She looks like a porcelain babydoll.

My kids are nineteen months apart and it is such a crazy, sweet, busy time of it. Regarding Jacks ear infections and Sunny having a hard time eating I know that checking for food allergies helped us so much. My daughter has a milk allergy and my son a gluten allergy. My daughter would have constant ear infections but when we took milk away they went away. My son used to cry and cry when he tried to eat and he is the one with the gluten allergy. Not all kids are the same and there’s a likelihood that this isn’t the same for Jack and Sunny but I thought I would share my experiences. They are both late teenagers now, time goes by so quickly. You both are wonderful people, any child would be blessed to have parents like you!

Jack talks so well for his age. Why did Sarah have to leave for 4 days? If it were me I'd wait til the baby's a little older to be gone that long. Maybe a couple days instead. Be careful leaving Sunny in couches, it's amazing how even infants that young can roll off one. Plus Jack could accidentally throw something at her or injure her. Swaddling a baby is not all it's cracked up to be. Babies need room to move around. One last piece of advise if I may, do not get ear tubes yet only as last resort. They fall out a lot kids sometimes can get dizzy spells. My kids had chronic ear infections. I finally took them to chiropractor. He worked his magic and took them off dairy, soy milk, almond milk and that did the trick. Milk is hyperallergenic if that's the proper word.

Duuuuude!!! I had so many ear infections as a little in the 90s.
Before you go for tubes, try Tea Tree oil around his ears. You’ll wanna get a really good one, like well sourced ya know all that stuff. However just a drop of that and a drop of coconut oil and give him a little ear massage.
See if that helps it out!! Tea tree oil can REALLLLLY HELP and that keeps from doing things like antibiotics or surgery which from my experience was WAY hard on my system. I mean I’m aTotes healthy now however my youth and teens were heath-wise… rough 😮‍💨
Anywhoozle try it out! It’s low cost and never hurts to try!!

This was just before Thanksgiving. She still made the big dinner. Then she made my little sister, her SIXTH child, a beautiful dress and coat for Christmas (she was a great seamstress), all while working a job, still dealing with the cast on her hand, decorating and shopping for Christmas, and taking care of the rest of us. Single mom here. I SO appreciate the props you gave us. My son is now 23 and I'm finally getting to look at my health challenges that have been on the back burner due to the time consumption you talked about. It's so hard to date, always eat well and get the needed sleep when you're just always on the go, esply with a special needs kid, and if the opposite gender. God bless the father that you are. You are doing fantastic(!) by yourself without your wife or a car and with Jack's fever. GREAT JOB!
Re those lights on your car. It's likely an ignition coil (under $200?). But 1st make sure your gas cap is on tight. It cld be that, or not putting premium gas in the car (IF it calls for that). By the way, you have 4 ignition coils. If the one you may need replaced is one of the hard to get to coils (more labor involved), you might as well replace the other one in the back and save yourself the labor costs the next time around (although the last owner may have already done that). And your knees! Now the power out? Father of the year!
    Best of luck!

When I was a fairly newish grandma and was babysitting my 4 grandkids: 1, 3, 4, 8…everyone going in different directions and needing different things…baby needs a nap, other kids want to play outside, oldest wants to go in her friend’s house… Yikes! You're such a cute family. I just want to let you know not to worry about your daughters weight or that she doesn't drink much. Someone has to be at the low weight end & she's one of them. I was too. I was adopted so I had to drink formula. I never finished a bottle. My parents were thrilled if I drank a couple ozs. Our Dr. told my parents not to worry, I would eat what I needed. I was a picky eater. Everything plain & I ate very little. That hasn't changed much at all. I hated soda, still do. My mom said I was tiny. When I was 13 yrs. I was finally able to wear jr's size 0. I grew to 5' 6" 117. I'm totally healthy. I don't get colds & have had the flu one time since 1972. As long as your baby girl is healthy it's fine if she eats on the light side. My only health issue was ear aches until around 5. Hopefully your son won't need tubes. My little cousin had tubes when she was young for a couple years. Neither of us have ear aches or any ear problems. Her, her mom & one of her 2 brothers were blond like you guys. The other boy had dark hair like your daughter. It's funny how that works out! Your kids are so cute...!

I’m a mother of 5 and grandmother of 8. I haven’t watched the whole video yet but saw you struggling a bit and just had to offer a couple of tips that babies used to like anyway. A running sweeper usually soothes them. I’m sure there are white noise machines that could help or ASMR videos are soothing as well, soft spoken whispers help. I really like Amuse ASMR and gentle whisperingASMR. I used to push my babies around in strollers in the house to get them to sleep or they enjoyed baby swings. One of my daughters had colic for 6 weeks after birth. My husband was a miracle worker at night with her. That was really hard. I love your videos and your family is just precious! So sorry you are experiencing all these problems. Hope Jack gets better soon. Hope you can get your bike back! People are so cruel!
