I have been sailing the Maine coast for 28 years on my Allied 36. I am typically on the water about 100 days per season. My comments reflect that experience. Maine harbor porpoises often travel is small groups of 3-5. They will approach a boat under sail, but tend to stay farther away from boats under power. Too bad you didn't have time to head farther east. Say down Eggemoggin Reach into East Penobscot Bay then through Merchant Row and back to Vinalhaven.
I don’t know Captain Peffer from a bar of soap, but just that short video - Wow! He is pro. The sequence where he trims the heady, the traveler, the runners. Even the bit where he stows the winch handle. What a sailor.
I started watching "Sailing Alone Across an Ocean on a 30ft Sailboat and Losing the Rudder 1000 Miles from Hawaii" and quickly learned your wife left. I checked your recent videos to ensure you bounced back and I am glad you did! I will see you out on the water!
Happy Holidays man! Ive been watching your videos since earlier this year and have bought one of your hoodies as well as my first sailboat. Thank you for all that you do.
In your video about the new DC system a year ago, around seven minutes 17 seconds , you showed an inverter under the chart table. Does that inverter power all the outlets on the boat while underway? I have searched other videos for answer but could not find one.
My dream is to sail around the world, however I’ve only done a weeks sailing course many years ago. How much experience do I need before I buy my own boat and start sailing?
Hi James! We are so glad you got to sail in our neck of the woods! Our 1991 Bristol Channel Cutter 28 is moored in Muscongus Bay . Holly's folks live near us. It's easy to sail a few miles to a beautiful cove on an island, drop the hook (we have a Rocna and never hada problem) and stay a few days. It's fun to explore and meet folks, or read, stuff our faces with lobster and melted butter, and nap. It doesn't suck too bad. Yeah, we have fog, insects, rain, and a short season, but it has a certain feel to it that touches my heart.
Glad to have my home internet back on, to watch your videos easier 👍✌️

He is a highly skilled sailor for sure and the most knowledgeable person I have ever know when it comes to boats

I have two inverters; 1 Victron multiplus 2000w that powers all the house plugs and 1 Renogy 3000w that is just wired up to my electric galley.
@@SailorJames thank you so much for an extremely fast reply. You have an incredible channel and I’m glad I was able to find it.

I love Bristol Channel Cutters, amazing boats !
😊👍
Don't get in the water up there, James. A woman got eaten by a great white shark a couple of years back. 🫣
