Im a new rider so forgive the ignorance. How were you comfortable going down that road with it being wet and icy? At what point is grip an issue? Im trying to learn how to gauge road conditions.

Well the short answer is: I wasn't comfortable.
The long answer is: I know my bike pretty well. I live in Washington where the road conditions are wet and slippery often, so I've grown a little more used to it but it's will a bit puckery. Notice that in the wet turns, I slow way down and keep the bike a lot more upright and don't lean into it as much as I do in the dry corners. The downside on wet roads and grip is that you only find out when grip is an issue when your bike is on it's side sliding away from you. Thankfully (knock on wood) I have not found this threshold yet, and I hope I never will. I try to avoid went conditions as much as possible not only because the riding is quite unpleasant when it's raining, but it's also pretty scary. But in times like this, I did not know that the conditions at the top of this road would be so bad. But I decided to push through.
I appreciate the honesty and the time you took to write all that. I was watching this thinking maybe I am being overly cautious with these types of conditions. I appreciate you being transparent and not downplaying the risk. Helped me a lot. Thanks again. @@MOTOSCOUTtv
