The slatted mouldboard are not for making the plough light, sure they do but that's not the reason they at used its to stop certain soil types, like clays and chalky loams for sticking to the mouldboard, which in turn can cause uneven soil turning, and also after a time can cause a blockage and will stop turns the soil all together.
Tom Hull aii, you could actually get them for a Ferguson 2 furrow Plough out in America back in the day. I haven't had a plough with them, but just guessing, would they be cheaper to replace than a solid mole board too? Well you could probably get more acres out of the top slats by only changing the faster wearing bottom first?
That's a standard way ploughs are these days that wheel is not necessary. When I was contracting I had an eight furrow plough on the back of a T7.310 with a 1.75 ton weight on the front as long as you are careful you are alright. The main use of the wheel is too keep the plough from burring deep into the ground.
you get different kinds of mouldboards! its all to do with soil type/structure that determines whether you want a solid mouldboard or a slatted one like you have there! :)
Fifty years ago Massey Ferguson's grey fergy was the popular tractor of the day with a twin or triple furrow plough. 4:50. Maybe 155 years ago one horse power was the order of the day.
Its a fully mounted plough but the wheel is for depth in field and on the road it you set the plough with bodies up the wheel takes the load off tge tractor backend, making it safer on road and if toplink legs go you wont plough up the tarmac
good video a gen and thats one you can plough as you can see thars not a nuf green grass its most brown grass and weeds the last one was mor green i wood of left that one and had horses or cattle or sheep in it but that one your in keep on ploughing that one and i like the wee dog its like my one a dog is a mans best friend
I notice there are no birds following the plough like there used to be when I was a child (1970's). Is that because the soil is sterile? I note you said you used Round-Up, so I am guessing this has killed all the soil flora and fauna?
glyphosate (roundup) is used to kill off the grass before ploughing, glyphosate is good at binding to soil particles so it doesnt leach, glyphosate is also very safe to use, it has a very very low toxicity level so no, the round up does not kill fauna, only flora, there is simply no birds out on that day
Round up should be given 6 weeks to work, according to its label. But a plough should have no trouble burrying that quantity of trash, especially with skimmers fitted.
Good looking dirt, I've noticed there a lot of new Holland tractors over there, here in us you see a tractor that big most of the time is going to be green.
+thefunkyfarmer I belive what he was getting at was that you don't see the brands you see over here in the U.S. Over here its a lot of Case, John Deere, Cat. Not many New Holland
wierd im my country its banned... it was used it soviet times. But then they realised that it is just a potion with whitcu u dont mess around things that gives u food to eat.
No u count a horse can only pull a 2 bottom plow and u need 2 of them for it or it will pull on the spine of the horse and can cause damage and u don't want to go to with the t6 cause the plow can start skipping
Shut up. It's a five furrow reversible plough( spelt correctly) and it's a depth wheel although in this case it is also used as a transport wheel. We can see you know very little.
6:16 is the real stuff!
Video starts from 5:52
Slatted mouldboards are useful on soils which don't 'scour' very well e.g. sticky clay or black peaty soils.
The slatted mouldboard are not for making the plough light, sure they do but that's not the reason they at used its to stop certain soil types, like clays and chalky loams for sticking to the mouldboard, which in turn can cause uneven soil turning, and also after a time can cause a blockage and will stop turns the soil all together.
thanks Tom

I love farming
Colleen Hemore 1 I love farming
The slatted moldboards help the soil not to 'stick' in heavy clay soil.

I plow ever year never have birds. Do you know what flora and fauna are?
glyphosate (roundup) is used to kill off the grass before ploughing, glyphosate is good at binding to soil particles so it doesnt leach, glyphosate is also very safe to use, it has a very very low toxicity level so no, the round up does not kill fauna, only flora, there is simply no birds out on that day

how come you didn't spray it with roundup before you turned it over?
why would you spray with a product linked to cancer?
And if u unblock it it goes for the road also, the help balance the tractor.
Why apply Round-Up instead of grazing the grass down?
Round up will kill the grass and will cause less weeds
Good fery good👍👍😁😁
Nice new holland t6080
My tractor only pull a 2 sod plough it's a small tractor 60 or 70 horsepower
The wheel is for field use that is a fully mounted plough so the plough would have to be virtually touching the ground for it to be any use.
He said its a combi wheel. Road and field.
awesome video
Looking beautiful. But where this country
Is that a T6080 by any chance?
I'm not sure
Has the tractor got GPS
