tests
At 68 I missed two.
At 71 I missed two
@@douglasharris5216 good on ya doug. i think the 'old guys' could teach the young ones a thing or to. (sorry, i think it might be two)
I also got two wrong . Occurrence and affect … I’m 74
The test would have been harder if you asked " what is a preposition "
Ok, that got a giggle out of me.....yep, you are so right!
Ahahaha, true
*The test would have been harder if you had asked “What is a preposition?”
@@daviddarcy-ewing6185 Ewwww Grammar Nazi a know it all, lmfao.
I couldn't tell you but I did well with the questions. I graduated in 1967. Many many years ago.🙃
I love doing these! It puts me right back into school as a kid again.....good memories! Thanks for the fun!
Glad you like them!
100%. Whew! It should be so, since I’m a teacher of English as a foreign language (though I haven’t taught in almost two years).

@@haroonmushtaq1287 I highly recommend just writing out sentences. They made us do that in school so we wouldn’t screw up the words.
@@haroonmushtaq1287 I got all spellings right, you just have to exercise more and then you can do it. No one's born as a genius (except me lol)
I think this test is for people who are learning English. Lovely English accent.
U re so clever that u understood this test is for English learners...

Wow! You are really appreciatable person
I find your statement funny cuz the word "correctly' is not correct English. You should be saying "I got them all "correct".
@@ahorsewithnoname5702 Good catch
I got all of them correct. Wish I could do as well on some of the other knowledge quizzes.
Well done on getting all the answers correct! 🎉💪 Don’t worry, with practice, those other quizzes will be a breeze too. Keep challenging yourself-you’ve got this! 🚀✨

Explanation is so good..
The beginning is not bad I got 12 out of 23 🙏🙏🙏
Keep going. Keep growing. 💪
I failed 5 questions and I am very proud of me this means am a genius in two years of speaking English it’s amazing 😉
👍
Nailed it. This was easy for me.. Also my Mom always told me I was a genius. IQ 140. No, I'm not conceited. I'm convinced. Be your own cheerleader and have a high self esteem. YOU ARE INTELLIGENT, SMART AND BEAUTIFUL.
Congratulations on successfully completing the task! It's great to have confidence in your abilities and to feel proud of your accomplishments. It's also wonderful to have supportive parents who have encouraged and believed in you. Believing in oneself and maintaining a healthy self-esteem can be valuable for personal growth and well-being.
It's important to acknowledge and celebrate our strengths, intelligence, and inner beauty. However, it's also important to remember that intelligence comes in various forms and can manifest differently in different individuals. It's great to embrace our unique talents and qualities while also recognizing and respecting the strengths of others.
Encouraging and uplifting oneself is indeed important, and it can create a positive mindset. At the same time, it's valuable to extend that positivity and encouragement to others, fostering an environment of support and collaboration. Together, we can celebrate the accomplishments and strengths of both ourselves and those around us.
Interesting n very informative
Thanks!

I hated test when i was a kid, but I’m enjoying these. Didn’t do very well with the spelling. Went to a parochial school. I used to be very good at English. My favorite thing was to dissect a sentence….which one was the verb, noun, adverb etc

Continuously challenging yourself and seeking knowledge is a commendable approach. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. Keep up the excellent work!
I had a perfect score. What does naming of the animals have to do with knowing the English language?

Well, i love it . I've minimized my mistake and it's really fun answering questions. It really is broadening my knowledge in vocabulary, just like when i'm in high school days.
Glad to hear that 😘
I got,all but one correct. Really enjoyed the quiz and can't wait to do more .Thanks.
Excellent!
got them all right except the "affect" vs "effect" one. That one has troubled me in the past, and still can't seem to get it right
The trick is to remember that affect comes first alphabetically, and an action (to affect) has to occur before you can have a result (an effect).
I still have trouble with it, but I try to remember them as effect (currently happening) and affect (a result of something that happened in past reference). For example, ‘chemo has powerful effects’ and ‘I was affected by the murder of my mother.’
I believe 98% of Americans don't know this either (I am in the 2%). The word 'impact' has annoyingly and incorrectly replaced 'affect' in a lot of uses.
All correct. A good test .
Thank you!
I’m proud of all my English teachers including my father ❤️
Excellent 👍
I find it very funny that despite being a native speaker, I still got half the spelling ones wrong lol
I'M 77 - MISSED ONE
Yeah, the two I missed were spelling! Gads! So annoying, I was cooking there until the spelling!
Affect and effect can each be used as either noun or verb depending on the context. The answers to the animal questions are all "yes" or "no" as the questions ask "CAN you name ..."
100%
You're wrong. Affect is always a noun & effect is always a verb. Give me an example.
@@barbrn oh dear ...
He was a happy person whose affect was always cheery.
I would like to effect a change in your knowledge of English grammar.
@@barbrn Affect vs. Effect

Alice E.M. Underwood
· Grammar
Affect and effect are easy to mix up. Here’s the short version of how to use affect vs. effect. Affect is usually a verb, and it means to impact or change. Effect is usually a noun, an effect is the result of a change. Watch out! There are certain situations and fixed phrases that break the general usage rules for these words.
@@debbierowley9596 Thanks for reminding me of that. It's just not a usual usage.

Q1 - We don’t always use ‘with.’ For example “She’s mad at me.”
Q6 - We also say “Put all of your clothes together in this box” or “Put all your clothes in this box”
Q7 - No need to worry about “apprise,” most English speakers don’t even know of this word. Appraise : “I’m getting my house appraised.” We use this word if we want to get an estimate on something we own like our house to get its value and get a loan from the bank.
Q8 - Whether : “I don’t know whether to stay or leave.” Weather : “What’s the weather like tomorrow?”
Q9 - Effect : “drugs have powerful effects.” Affect : “My judgement was affected by my feelings for him.”
Q10 - Lose : “He’ll lose the game, no doubt.” Loose (can either mean something stray or loose as in fitting) : “BURGLARS ON THE LOOSE” or “This sweater feels loose on me. I must be losing weight.”
Q11 - Raise : “Raise your hand if you ever told a lie.” Rise : “The queen insisted her subjects (would) rise from their seats.”
Q19 - Beaver : A beaver builds dams with pieces of wood from trees like branches and sticks to build and fortify its home. This home in turn/as a result slows the speed of the water flowing down a stream or river.
Q21 - Gazelle : A gazelle drinking from a stream in the desert will run away when a nearby crocodile tries to eat it.
Q22 - Bobcat : Bobcats are identificable by the tufts of black fur on the points of their ears.
Wow, great! Thanks for sharing.
Emily Maguire...Sorry, but MAD means INSANE.
What you want is: "She's ANGRY with me."
@@georgealexander8661 The way we talk is flexible, you could put quite a few other words there
Good Job Emily
Thanks a million
@@georgealexander8661 this reflects the difference between the British and American use of the word mad. I believe Brits use your definition while Americans would likely use crazy or insane rather than mad. Are you British George? Regards, Diane
I only missed one. I've never heard of the word "apprise"
Nice score! Thanks for watching ❤
That’s the only word I failed on never heard the word apprise
Same here! Only one I got wrong
