I was familiar with the general plot of this transfer saga like most fans (and I'm too young to actually remember it myself, I've just read about it), but I did not know all those details. That agreement between Perez and Figo? Crazy, just crazy. I guess Figo doesn't talk about those details now because it's so embarrassing for him. Love this channel, please keep it up!

    Forgot to mention that he was by far the best player on the squad he was team captain and yet he was 3rd highest paid. When he asked for a raise Barca directors just didn't listen as they never thought he could actually leave.. They got what they deserve. With that said Figo was always one to profit from every possible situation, but he always gave his best at every club he played.

    You forgot to mention 2 facts:
    - Figo, on the last seasons in Barça, was named Captain allways in absence of guardiola or luis enrique, wich was common duo to the age of both.
    - Before making a deal with Florentino, FIgo pressured Barça's president to make a new contract. At that time he was payed way fewer than Rivaldo and thought he's importance on the club deserved more credibility by the president. Besides being captain he was the playmaker of Barça at that time.
    I suspect Figo revealed the intentions of Florentino to Barça staff to put even more pressure to make a new contract with Barça.
    I was also think Barça's president didn't believe Figo would go "crazy mode" and become a traitor to Barça fans(he was the damn captain), so he didn't sign a new contract.
    Yes, Luis Figo betrayed Barça fans, but the fault is not only on his shoulders. Barcelona's president is also guilty.
    Anyway very nice video, and very nice channel. Subscribed

    • @ElJaztins
      @ElJaztins 10 місяців тому +4

      I think Figo is fully a victim in this story.
      A victim to his agent, who signed and advised hkm on the contract, making figo believe it would be impossible for Perez to win.
      A victim of Florentino Perez, who was 100 times smarter than Figo and His agent, and outplayed them masterfully.
      A victim of Barcelona's president who thought he wasn't worth the 19 million.

At the time the amounts where insane, and everyone think that Real will ended up bankrupt. But the money they make was so insane, that clubs realize they could spend a lot more money. Figo went out because Barça never tought that Real ever buy Figo, and tought that Figo was bluffing.

The whole saga about Massimo Moratti leaving and Erick Thohir taking over the club. Inter having won the UCL in 2010, suddenly doesn't make the top 5 anymore.. After José's success years, they have had Rafa Benitez, Leonardo, Stramaccioni and Mancini again. What happened?! And having players who are fairly unknown (don't mean it in a bad way). eric More an obsession to outscore messi. At united he was the most exciting player in the world, a fluid dribbler and a trickster. Now he's just a poacher, a very good one admittedly

    • @juliusc.8
      @juliusc.8 7 років тому +13

      Lol, he's inverted now, there's no reason for him to dribble when he can just cut inside. The few times he does switch back to the right he still takes players on.

      Conal Quinn I actually prefer the current Ronaldo from the previous Man United Ronaldo. The old Ronaldo was a ball hog who dribbles too much. While the current Ronaldo would actually pass the ball to his team mates to score a goal. I'm glad we that we already got a mature and efficient Ronaldo who is now a team player. He doesn't have to score all the goals every time. The most important thing is he plays well for Real Madrid to win the game. The Bernabéu appreciates technical plays, but hates ball hogs that dribbles too much. I'm glad Isco already got that excessive dribbling out of his system. He's now a much improved player now that he goes for those quick efficient passes.

And at the end, it was up to Figo and he took the right decision.

    • @jackripper9180

      Yea, keep telling yourself that when they roll over what ever team you think is bigger then them.
      Alternatively, if we are talking about actual size (money, members, etc.), you can go and look up the last 10 years worth of statements for most if not all the clubs. There will be things called "facts" there, these are irrefutable because they are just fucking true. So when you see that Barca has been in the top 5 earners for the last 10 years and the top 2 for the last few (at times being numero uno), your notion that they aren't one of the biggest clubs in the world will wither and die. If it doesnt, you are lying to yourself and need to do some soul searching.

    • @jackripper9180
      @jackripper9180 8 років тому +1

      Well if you want to look at things historically, how about you do a comparison of other clubs (i.e. Manchester United) against Real Madrid? I can *almost* say that you would pair in comparison historically without looking up any facts or figures. You present facts contrary to what I'm saying and I will concede. Otherwise you're just some guy spewing nonsense that he had no idea about.
