Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

I'm a big brother Arab fan..jamming it back in high school..It still on my Playlist....
She Got A Big Posse...
Shout out to Arabian Prince. This brother is so chill and down to earth. Plus, he's multi-faceted in his craft. In every group or family, there is always the 'other' brother and he is that dude. I never looked at him as being totally N.W.A. He dropped some real gems in this interview about the game and technology. Looking at him, he hasn't changed much physically either. Great conversation Soren. Thanks for bringing it to us.
Another Great interview 💯💯💯💪💪 you need to ask Arabian Prince about the hit single " She got a big posse" and why he wasn't ask to rejoin NWA on reunion shows with Yella, Mc Ren, Dre & Ice Cube and how and why did him and Yella did JJ Fad 2nd album in 1991🤔🤔🤔
Arabian prince back with a style that's hype not slow & low its the fast type
Nice, Eric Wright. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt, as always.
Panic Zone was one of my favourite NWA songs. I like the switch in tempo on those LP's
checking the coments if this statement had been made or if i have to
👍😎
You just put the comment I was coming to put, that’s my most played song off the original album
I still jam that song
Somethin' 2 Dance 2 was on the CD and cassette version of Straight Outta Compton. It was omitted from the vinyl release.
It's a shame, @kevinjenkins692. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Arabian Prince was underrated and never got the credit he deserved. I have the original 12" Dream Team release of "Supersonic". I lived in Las Vegas back in the 80s and we used to get all of the underground releases before they blew up.
Agreed, @DSane206. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
This was my scene, originally. Wrecking Cru, Uncle Jamm, Juan Atkins, Soulsonic Force, Arthur Baker, Man Parrish, of course Kraftwerk and even 2 Live Crew. Fantastic music that was a huge influence on EDM
Come on NWA and the Posse was a compilation at first and Boyz in the Hood popped!! Panic Zone and something to Dance was fire!! Don't forget about Fat Girl!! Great history!!
*Eastside Low Bottoms sh*t !*
_Tappin' in from South Central LA_
I remember Bitch Iz A Bitch being taken off of later albums as well if I'm not mistaken.
I think the comedic aspect of NWA didn't get as much attention because of the perception of Compton and of _widely known_ LA artists as well. But anybody from any so called "hood" knows that in the midst of the bullsh*t, there is comedic gold to be found ! Lol.
Good interview. Thanks again Soren.
🤜🏾💥🤛🏾
I talk in the exact same pitch 😂

"And it starts with the letter B.
It makes a girl like that think she's better than me."
Great stories from Arabian Prince!!! Super Dope!!
Let the good times roll
Let The Good Times Roll ( Nickle Bag )
His best song
Let the good times roll!
Spectacular interview as always
Awesome. Much love and long life to Brother Arab. Situation hot.....
Something 2 Dance 2 was my jam back in the day I used to listen to that every morning on my way to high school back in the 80's!☺️
I remember that record, and it cannot be undone. They can hide it all they want to, but we know that it exists.
I would pay $ just to have coffee and a conversation about the music business with this guy.
That brother Arab album was hot I was banging that shit
I used to work with That Guy, the producer of the record when I was with Universal. He was a product manager with MCA. I had that album when I was 12 so when I mentioned Arabian Prince in a conversation he told me he was that Guy and tripped me the fck out. His Pops was Venus Flytrap on WKRP and the Dad on Sister Sister.
I bought SOC on vinyl which was a re release and Something To Dance To is on it.
I believe when SOC first came out in 1988, it only 10 tracks, and when it rereleased in 1989, it included 3 tracks which one of them was “Something 2 Dance 2”
Does yours have 8ball??? My vinyl is missing several tracks
@@arizonaFIREent You probably have an original pressing
Nwa and the posse got all those fun cuts...Got the CD..used the have the record.
N.W.A was pre A-Team.All six guys were nice at their craft.
I’ve never bought a version of SOC without Something 2 Dance 2.
Dave McDonald it's easy the worse song on the album a lot of rappers would make those type of songs to try to get play in the club's back then.
@@darryljohnson4458 I didn’t say anything about how good or bad the song was, just that’s he said there was versions now without the song and I’ve never bought or known of a version that didn’t have it.
@@dumbledee actually back in the day it wasn't on the straight outta Compton vinyl it was on the gangsta gangsta 12 inch they also left things off the second N.W.A. vinyl back in the day but when reissued things would end up on the vinyl.
@@darryljohnson4458 💯💯
I wish Arabian Prince & JJ FAD were in the Straight Outta Compton Movie. I also wish that he had more tracks on the Straight Outta Compton album.
He has a great voice!
For sure, @SouthBeach. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Let The Good Times Roll.... Nickle Bag
It was on my tape.I didn't think it fit the rest of the content but it was on the tape i had.
Something to dance to is on my nwa album
I love that song
OG ARABIAN PRINCE#1
Is that hdmi cable he was talking about out? I need that!
Arabian seems very cool Cat I like that he is himself. Nothing wrong with doing the behind the scenes work you can get paid just as well doing that. I enjoyed this interview the most.
Still bump It's a dope thank
a PROFESSOR X ALBUM PLUS THE X-MEN returning would be the electro mayhem of the year. i certainly hope this is truly happening!!!
I met Arabian Prince and DJ Train cousin at the same place . Like at the same time . Can't remember if they talked about how Train lost his life .
Nice, Dion Khnum. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt, as always.
STD2 slaps ...I still bump it.
What I've wanted to know all these years is he really Arabian and he's really a Prince
All kind of people there, Egyptians, Arabian, Doctors… 🎉🎉🎉
That nickel bag song is crazy way ahead of its time, bro arab is something of a genius
Agreed, @beatsbyjiro8291. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
one of the most beutyfull voice of rap music
Essentially like Dre, AP is an engineer at heart
I Met Egyptian Lover A Few Years Back He Working At A Toy R Us
Arabian Prince went to Inglewood (CA) High School
He foresaw all the NWA saga left kept his dignity He's speaking his truth esp' about JJ Fad not being good rappers! I'm more impressed with his tech savvy skills and producer than his rapping good interview I now have a better understanding of him and the aforementioned
Doesn't want to admit it's something 2 dance 2.
@koenmoulton3277, thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
When did they remove Something 2 Dance 2?
On certain vinyl pressings (including the original Vinyl LP if I'm not mistaken) Something 2 Dance 2 was omitted along with 8 Ball (Remix) and Something Like That to adhere to the space limitations for the vinyl record. As you might have noticed, the 13 tracks clock in at well over an hour in run time and vinyl records can only hold about 24 minutes of content on each side for a total of 48 minutes max. I think the people at Priority Records did that to keep the weight down on the jackets.
I still have the original version #Cdshawn custom USB'S available....super duper hip hop Library, Old School, Funk, tiny bit of jazz and I'm getting up to date on my blues.
USBS cleaner crisper sound better than Bluetooth no commercials and you get to choose what you listen to versus a bunch of bullshit pumping your ear cuz Bluetooth ain't nothing but the new radio and they play what they want you to hear.
excellent
Something to dance to was on my album. I liked it but honestly… it didn’t fit. I could tell as a young teen. It was a completely different vibe.
Back in the day they played the shit out of Something 2 Dance 2 on KMEL and KYLD in San Francisco. It was a huge hit in the clubs too. To me it was the West Coast’s answer to Luke Skywalker
✌🏿😎
Panic Zone is a banger
Super Sonic.....nobody believed me for years that it was you...and Dre...but I had the record.
SUPERSONIC WAS PRODUCED BY ARABIAN PRINCE by himself Maaaaann, DRE ain't had nothin' do wit that song at all....
@@moeeshangpate6320 yes he did he changed up a LOT on the record Arabian Prince just did the skeleton of the beat
Yella doc
