hey guys, just a heads up, SpeedFit should not in any circumstance be used for compressed air applications, due to the line being constantly de-pressurised and re pressurised the pipe will start to become heavily damaged over time. if you're thinking of using a compressor in the future for the whole auto Alex multiverse look to get it replaced with a stainless steel line, much safer, much longer lasting, and looks the bollocks. id say give me a call to get a quote but then id look like a proper little mug, big love x
Honestly from the title I thought this was going to be "here's some crap we got off Temu for 5p, oh what a surprise it sucks", but these are actually (mostly) useful things which aren't mega expensive!
yea, couple might be useful but now you wait for next videos.... gear shifters and stupid chinese crap coming to their mailbox as we speak. hope they wont do that sh*t anymore. i'd prefer them to make a video about just one tool thats quality and explain to us why its better and why its worth it / or not.
I bought a set of those extractors for rounded off nuts/bolts and can confirm they are awesome and do really work! If you regularly work on anything old and rusty they're genuinely very useful. Also, anyone who watches Speed Academy will know that induction heater is a staple on their channel (rust belt cars in Toronto)
I was very concerned that they were going to do a donut media... These guys are way too good in front of a camera to start doing zoomer click bait style videos I hope they can go a bit more long form instead
pneumatic jacks - I’m a self employed mobile tyre guy of 9 + years. first few years I got through a conventional jack every 6 months to a year.. knackered. switched to air jacks and OH my god.. i’ve only ever had to buy 2 put it that way.. one with 2x height for lower cars and one with 3x height for bigger stuff. if your using a jack all day every day and have a compressor, the air jack is KING 👑 plus it blows customers minds regularly 😂 just don’t buy a shit cheap one!
I'm a HGV Fleet mechanic, we have a cheap Chinese induction heater in the workshop, good bit of kit and saves dragging the oxy/acetylene rig out for a small job
Yep, the best way. Especially on M9R engines when they've had water sat on top of them for years and rusted in. Get it hot as fuck take the clamp off and rev it to the moon
Heat induction tool, best tool I ever purchased, I originally commented on one of your other posts about it. Saves me so much time on rusty bolts. 👍🏻🙏🏻
The thing I love about watching these kind of episodes is that you say all of the hellish things I've been through like dropping sockets in the scuttle panel and the MOT tester finding it 6 months later, and knowing that other people have been through exactly the same thing.... and still do them every time they work on the car. Love it, even though I'm not doing much spannering these days!
I mostly use K&N oil filters on my bikes. They have a 13mm (or somesuch) bolt protrusion at the top and are really easy to remove and tighten with a standard socket. No need to mess about with strap wrenches and such.
You can make a strap wrench from a pair of mole grips and an old cam belt. I see your headlight beanie and raise you a headlight beanie with bluetooth and built in speakers.
ATG just have to deal with the scraps that get left over from the other channels… 😂 (which sounds sad, but they manage to put out some brilliant videos with said scraps ^^)
26:08 I think a pneumatic jack like that would probably work best in a paint and body shop as lifting the whole car is often unnecessary but you're going to want to do it quickly and the shop is already going to have plumbing for compressed air
What is this comment? Why would a paint or body shop need to use this over a regular jack? Don't need the speed. Most shops and even home garages have compressor hoses. Doesn't need plumbing, just a regular air line will do. Nothing in your comment makes sense in why a body shop would need such a tool.
In Poland those are used to switch tires. When season starts and you have gazillion clients in an hour, it's super easy and fast and you don't need a lift, you can do it on a driveway.
Entertaining and very helpful too. That's the problem with buying a new tool for those rare/awkward jobs, will it work as described? I recently purchased a three piece strut removal kit from Amazon that included a ball joint splitter which couldn't have separated a pair of socks. With so many fake reviews around, being able to watch someone independently test and provide honest feedback can either save potential purchasers time and money, or point them straight to the tool they need. I'd love to see this become a regular piece on TDC. Lets face it, there's no shortage of tools & car related products out there. One of my favourite car hacks was buying a £20 switchable Bluetooth Transmitter/Receiver for my '09 v70. Like may cars of that era, there's a USB A & AUX socket in the armrest. I switch the device to receive and plug it into the 3.5mm AUX socket, whilst keeping it charged from the USB outlet. Now I simply pair the device with my phone and press the AUX button on the stereo and steam my Tunes/Audio Books/Podcasts without any cables. Most phones come with dual Bluetooth connectivity, so my phone can still utilize the cars phone connection. If you own a car with the USB A/3.5mm AUX combo, this method provides far better audio than a 'Tunecast' type device that utilizes the radio.
Boys, love your work as always. If you're trying to do some cheap production videos, I recommend stretching out your build series videos. I believe your audience is very happy to have an additional 20 minute video (or extended 30 minute videos) where you two are just wrenching on the car. Show us banter, dummy spits, and even basic mechanical tips. We're actually keen to see the process of changing a cv, applying lubricant, shoddy work arounds etc I'd say your audience has a longer attention span than most, hence all of the references to classic top gear
Love your videos, you guys are so funny and don’t know how you do it but you make it feel like we the watchers are there. Also auto Alex and his people are great also. Keep up the amazing work
Induction heaters get more fun the more powerful it is. I used to sell the Josam jh1500. Its 15kW and is mainly used for chassis straightening on lorry trailers. It soaks a 10mm plate in seconds 😊
you guys could have eaily bought 69p tools from temu, used a click-baity title and broke them all. But instead you chose weird, un-usual and also actually useful tools to make better content. this is why TDC is my fav automotive channel, keep it up boys!
great content as usual. Regarding the jack - we have a gravel drive and to use a trolley jack I have to put a steel plate down or it won't roll when the car comes up. I use a pneumatic jack like the one you showed and it makes a huge difference to me
Man, an induction heater has saved my butt MANY times over the years. How they're not much more common is weird to me, but since the very first time I used one I have been preaching the ways of induction. Also: That 8 pound oil filter "wrench" WILL break one or more of the fingers off when you get a real stuck filter. I've broken 2 of them, and seen several others break the exact same way. They work great unless you have a strongly stuck filter.
I've got the airbag Jack, it's great in confined spaces where its difficult to pump the handle up and down on a trolley Jack without hitting the wall or another car . The height clearance issue can be overcome by opening the air release valve and further collapsing the bag by pushing down on it then closing the valve while still applying pressure , this should keep the Jack in a lower position
about 3 years ago i was doing the intake bolts on my mustang and one of the 8mms started to strip. On amazon i got a bolt extractor kit very similar to your goodwrench kit but only for $9. I still have it and have used it a handfull of times and works wonderfully.
I got extractors for 25 CAD on sale in canada recenty, different brand but famous for home workers. I decided that it will work a few times on my old Corvette C3 and it was useful! Thank you again for the podcast as well!
I don't know how you guys managed to read the air jack instructions in 'Chinglish' with out cracking up. Reading that stuff is a channel all to itself. You have one more new subscriber. 👍🏼
You could've done more science with the brake fluid tester. Pour out 100ml of brake fluid, then add 1ml of water with a syringe, mix it round, test, repeat
Most Diesel Injectors nowadays have a copper or similar compression washer that sits underneath the injector at the nozzle end. Can be troublesome to remove sometimes. There’s a tool for removing them, basically a tapered thread on a little slide hammer. Works a treat.
The pneumatic lifter is an awesome tool for garage use. I have one and it makes the job quick and easy to change out wheels from summer tires to winter tires in less than half an hour, also for some minor repairs without breaking the comfort. I do also have a four post lift but that was busy on the day I was changing my wheels, that's being used when I want to have a comfortable height to the issue I'm trying to fix.
Those extractor sockets are a godsend. I had to buy a set to replace the cats on my 08 Cobalt with over 250k kms on it. I'm in Nova Scotia...things were very rusty but we got the old bolts out. Keep up the great work you two handsome devils

That injector tool is the one 😲 For roubded bolts ive had success over and over with the crest pass through socket/wratchet/adjustable set. Fits odd size and damaged bolts as well as non damaged bolts
Alternative for gear oil and the similar kind of stuff. Get a cheapish weed sprayer for 20 bucks, cut off the tip and use a heat gun to bend the end over 90 degrees. Simple pressure pot to pump fluid with a shutoff thumb valve usually
dude those glove-type things with the two LEDs look like a gimmick, but there are situations where it's actually very very handy, for instance when you're in a lit space but working deep in the engine bay from underneath - you get way too much light in your eyes for them to see in the dark area of the engine. Having those two small leds on your fingertips is pure magic in that scenario.
1:16 the oilfilter remover tools with the rubber band on it , is also good for removing the front variator on a scooter if one dosent have airtools hold the vario with the tools and loosen the bolt ;) it's faster and fits neatly under my seat no problem. i make extra changing rollers etc for ppl and i can do it in a parking lot etc almost anywhere
For the oil filter remover, instead of that plastic one get yourself a metal one! significantly more reliable and less messing around. You don't need to set the size with them, you just put it on and twist and it will wrap around and apply the pressure
That torch beanie... Well. If only headlamps were invented. Maybe not for 3 bucks but for 30 you can get one that will serve you for like 10 years at least. Most I've used are made for hiking/climbing/caving/mountaineering. They're nowdays usually waterproof, light, adjustable (up/down, so it actually lights up the exact height you're looking at) powerful enought to see 30m in front of you in a dark forest, and have many settings, including some that have a wide beam for use in cramped environments where you want to light up everything and the more powerful beam, that goes 30m ahead or even more. And because they're compact enough to fit on your head, they also fit well in places where handheld flashlights etc can't really fit. That is being on your forehead isn't enough. I've used those things in aircraft maintenance for 3 years now. Really happy with them. Some brands to look at are Petzl and Black Diamond for example, although of course there are different ones as well.
Sanding stuff out in the open WILL have you find traces of the sanding media all over whichever yard you're on for years to come 😂 For smaller stuff, buy a cheap tent to contain most of it.
Loving the content guys, please give us more than one a week though 😂, your content is far superior than BMW Alex now simply because your content is far more varied.
Got myself an induction tool from sealey, was something like £360 on a deal 3 or 4 years ago, it was a godsend taking off the exhaust studs from a 96 suzuki bandit that has been out in all weather's they came out no problem not a single one snapped off well worth the money 👍 mine came with a flat pad thing and it is for taking off plastic trims, decals, badges not used it myself but seen videos of others and it again saves a huge amount of time! You guys should do a few more tool time videos, I've bought a few tools on other people's recommendations, knipex pelican grips are the nuts, decent set of Allen keys and what socket set Is good value ? I've had a halfords lifetime guarantee set for over 15 years and not a single piece has broken it was probably the best tool purchase to date was on an offer at the time and I had an Xmas voucher so I paid like £60 I think it was something like £120 / £140 back then! A little diy challenge with what a beginner might need each have a budget and you both check out each others setup and then maybe collab together and pick the best from both!
We've had that exact same type of induction heater for years now. Works really well. Although since we bought ours from Pela it cost 3 times that 😂 well, they were more expensive back than. Absolutely worth buying!
I wonder if the air lift could be rigged to take a tyre pump? Like a cig lighter pump that most have in their car. I also love my blue extender, even if you can get a ratchet on it, sometimes there just isn't room to move and you're undoing a bolt one click at a time, this is a lifesaver
12:09 ive got the chain version of that from Halfords that attaches to a ratchet and i must say, when the claw doesnt work this tool does. Where the claw can crush a stuck oil filter, this doesnt

I've used those things in aircraft maintenance for 3 years now. Really happy with them. Some brands to look at are Petzl and Black Diamond for example, although of course there are different ones as well.
Boys dropping a banger!!
Loved the reading of the air jack instructions 😂
Sanding stuff out in the open WILL have you find traces of the sanding media all over whichever yard you're on for years to come 😂
For smaller stuff, buy a cheap tent to contain most of it.
Loving the content guys, please give us more than one a week though 😂, your content is far superior than BMW Alex now simply because your content is far more varied.
the instructions murdered me by laughter, dead i am at this moments 👍👍👍👍👍👍
The part with the camera looking into the toilet I literally spit my tea out 😅😅
Really cool video guys! More of these are welcomed.
the brake fluid at the top will always be better than what's down at the brakes, bleed some off then test that bit, love all the new content
Edwin's air impact wrench impression was the Christmas present I never knew I needed!
I also love my blue extender, even if you can get a ratchet on it, sometimes there just isn't room to move and you're undoing a bolt one click at a time, this is a lifesaver
the magnetic wristband is very handy when working with fixtures or furniture on a ladder
Good choices guys, this is some actual stuff that could be useful. That injector removal tool is something else.
12:09 ive got the chain version of that from Halfords that attaches to a ratchet and i must say, when the claw doesnt work this tool does.
Where the claw can crush a stuck oil filter, this doesnt
You are the most enjoyable channel out of the Autoalex team. Better than bmw after bmw!
Already know one of you would forget the magnetic dish and leave it there until you next open the bonnet. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The jack instructions killed me 🤣🤣🤣
