Thank you from a former Roman Catholic who has always believed in Jesus but lived a life of sinning, confession, back to sinning, back to confession and on and on it went. What fear I had that I might die in an unconfessed mortal sin. But in my delusion, there was always purgatory for the minor (venial) sins. What an horrendously false hope. After genuinely repenting almost 45 years ago, I realized that I was on the fast track to hell.

Repentance not only is a change of mind about who jesus is but also includes changing ones mind about sin. See the following scriptures
      2 Corinthians 12
19Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying. 20For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: 21And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not REPENTED OF THE UNCLEANNESS AND FORNICATION AND LASCIVIOUSNESS WHICH THEY HAVE COMMITTED.
      ___
      REVELATION 2:18-29 KJV
      18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21 And I gave her space to REPENT OF HER FORNICATION ; and she repented not.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except THEY REPENT OF THEIR DEEDS.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you ACCORDING TO YOUR WORKS.
24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 And he that OVERCOMETH, and KEEPETH MY WORKS unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28 And I will give him the morning star.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
      Galatians 5:
13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
      Living by the Spirit
      (Romans 8:9-11)
16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
      Acts 8
22 REPENT THEREFORE OF THIS THY WICKEDNESS, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. 23For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
      1 Corinthians 15
34Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Romans 7:3 is about how we are not under the Old Covenant, but the New Covenant. We are not under the law of Moses, but we are under the law of Christ. There has been a change of priesthood, so as Hebrews says, there is necessarily a change in the law. The Torah was but a figure which is fulfilled in the New Covenant.

No Christian is sinless what John speaks of in 1 John is the "Practice of sin" you are what you practice but Jesse didn't mention that. I always tell people that the true difference between a real Christian vs a false Christian is that when I became a believer from the same background as Jesse I didn't become "Sinless" however as I grow and mature in the things of God I "Sin Less" and less, and less. Of course this is the work of Sanctification by the Holy Spirit through the living Word of God. Jesse seems to be against sinless perfection yet his message is about sinless perfection or that upon conversion you are already perfect and should never sin. No matter I love this young man and his zeal for the Lord and His Word. Keep up the good work Jesse and may the Lord continue to bless your ministry

It isn't just Wesleyan Holiness and New School Christians who teach repentance for sin in regenerated hearts. True Calvinists do also. This modern Antinomianism produces cold-hearted "believers" who don't care about God and neighbor, but only about themselves. The first Dispensationalists were Calvinists, but soon many Dispensationalists reached the logical conclusion that the Ten Commandments, not the criminal charges against God's benevolent and moral government, that were nailed to the cross. As a result, Antinomian Christians have not been regenerated and therefore their conscience does not bother them when they sin. So, when they violate God's government, which hurts humans, they don't get convicted and so they don't repent. Repentance after Salvation is a sign of regeneration, that the true believer hates it when he or she sins, and it is that regeneration that causes repentance after salvation. It is not a work of man, but a work of God!
This sermon is excellent. Why is the Church today so much like the world? Because many in the Church don't have a conscience that bothers them when they sin. That conscience is the sign that the believer truly is regenerate. If I sin and I am not bothered by my conscience toward repentance, how can I say I have life, and have it more abundantly?
I know of Wesleyan Arminians and Calvinists who are Dispensationalists, but thank God they haven't taken that doctrine to its logical conclusion and are bothered when they sin by their conscience!

The Bible said Simon the Magician BELIEVED (i.e., he had faith) What he lacked was REPENTANCE. When Peter looked at him he saw this:
12But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Even SIMON HIMSELF BELIEVED, and after being baptized he continued with Philip.
    (Acts 8:12-13)
However when Peter discerned his heart he saw Simon's true state:
20 But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! 21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your HEART IS NOT RIGHT before God. 22 REPENT, therefore, of this WICKEDNESS of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart MAY BE FORGIVEN YOU. 23 For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity.”
    (Acts 8:20-23)
Because Simon never had given up the idol of his heart which was money he was not converted. Without following through with the foundational truths of repentance and faith we cannot be saved.

8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”
9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:8-9 Salvation came after true repentance.

If the church agrees we are to preach the gospel. It is important we get the message right and clear. Knowing the difference between the many gospels in the Bible is the difference between a confused church and a saved church. Today yes, since the destruction of the temple in 70AD we have only one gospel as will as one covenent, the old had pass away. As you Ken, pointed out in Galation there is one gospel
    No Other Gospel
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel- 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!
10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Galation was gentiles who would be under the gospel of grace.
Before Paul, the 12 apostles never received the gospel of grace
Read Acts 3 - Look at verse 20 -21 - and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you-even Jesus. 21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. What was promised and when was this promise made? This was the gospel of the Kingdom (Jesus)t
look at Romans 16:25 -27 Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from[f] faith- 27 to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. What was promised and when was this promise made? This was the gospel of Grase (Jesus)- Kingdom, and Grace = Jesus
Look at Ephesians 3- For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles- 2 if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, 3 how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, 4 by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), 5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: 6 that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, 7 of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.
Pual was the first to received this gospel, not the holy prophets or Peter.
Notice in Acts 3 Peter at this time had the Holy Spirit and did not have a clue why Jesus died on the cross. Look at verse 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead.
Paul under his gospel, Jesus laid down his life and that is what Jesus said He had power to lay his life and to pick it up.
The four books of the gospel dealt with the gospel of the kingdom- Jesus never came for the gentile but for the lost sheep of Israel
    Matthew 10:5-6
    (5) These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. (6) “But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Why is that? Because they, the 12 was under the law and the gospel of the kingdom you are required to keep the law.
You notice in Acts 15 The Council at Jerusalem
This is why churches need to know what gospel they are preaching or you will start preaching works and the law upon your people. This is why I believe there are not many people in church today that are saved. They are trying to save up works for themselves for judgement day and it is the church leaders that put this into their heads. You sin you need to do more work.
Jesus did ALL the work on the cross and a person is free from sin. A person who believe in Him.
The reason I know I am saved is that I have the Holy Spirit, You know how I know that I have the Holy Spirit is because I enjoy reading the Bible. It is not possible to understand the bible without the Holy Spirit.
Ask your self this, People at any church never talk about having the Holy Spirit in them . Why?
If you want to talk about this- take a few months and let this information settle in and than give me a call.
In all the land no women were found so fair as Job’s daughters; and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers. ow I am saved is that I hurch never talked about having the Holy Spirit.
Gospel of the Kingdom (Mark 1:14) Gospel of Grace (Acts 20:24)
Preaches the soon coming of the king and his kingdom (Matt 3:2)
Preaches the grace of God for salvation (Rom 3:22-26)
The king and kingdom was promised to the nation of Israel (Luke 1:69)
The grace of God is offered freely to all (Rom 3:22)
The kingdom was spoken about since the world began (Acts 3:21-25)
The dispensation of God’s grace was kept secret since the world began (Rom 16:25)
Killing the king is a sad and wicked thing (Luke 24:17; Acts 2:23)
The crucifixion of Christ is our glory (Gal 6:14)
The cross of Christ was not part of the message (Luke 9:2 vs. Luke 18:34)
Requires preaching the cross (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
Resurrection was not part of the message (John 20:9)
Preaching is vain without the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:14)
The kingdom requires performance (1 John 2:3; Matt 25:32-46)
    God’s grace motivates a purpose in your heart (2 Cor 9:7; 2 Cor 5:14-15)
The kingdom will benefit everyone on earth (Rev 20:3-4; Isa 2:3-4)
God’s grace unto salvation benefits only those that believe (Rom 3:22)
Salvation comes in the future when the kingdom comes (Acts 3:19; Heb 9:28; 1 Pet 1:5)Salvation comes at the moment of belief (Eph 1:13; Rom 5:1)
To be saved requires enduring to the end (Matt 24:13)
To be saved requires believing your work has come to an end (Rom 4:5)
There is a difference between Jew and Gentile in the kingdom (Matt 15:26; Zech 8:23)
There are no Jews or Gentiles in the church in this dispensation of grace (Gal 3:28)
Was given to the Twelve apostles of Israel to preach (Acts 1:3)
Was given to the apostle of the Gentiles to preach (Rom 11:13; 1 Cor 9:17; Eph 3:1-2)
Waiting for a kingdom of heaven to come to earth (Matt 6:10)
Preaching for those on earth to trust Christ and go to heaven (Eph 2:6-7)
The kingdom will be a visible presence on earth (Matt 24:27; Rev 19:11)
God’s grace is by faith and not by sight (2 Cor 5:7)
Healing of the sick was a sign of the kingdom (Matt 4:23; Mark 16:18)
The lack of healing is a sign of God’s sufficient grace (2 Cor 12:8-10)
Water baptism prepares Israel to enter the kingdom (Matt 3:3; Acts 2:38)
Baptism by the Spirit places us in the Body of Christ (1 Cor 12:13)
Continued obedience to the commandments required (Matt 23:13)
Justified without the law of Moses; not under the law (Acts 13:39; Rom 6:14)
Faith without works is dead (James 2:24)
Faith in the finished work of Christ gives peace and life (Rom 4:5; Rom 5:1)

    @blogstou 10 років тому +6

When we receive Christ we had repented of "DEAD WORKS" (Heb 6:1). This was a ONCE ONLY repentance (Heb 6:4-6). So as Christians have already repented of our dead works of self-righteousness, then there should not be any more repentance. It's a change of mind about our former rebellion against God, seeking to establish our own righteousness through dead works.
Doctrines preaching continual repentance is contrary to scripture. It's calling unclean what God has cleansed, in that continual repentance is called for to become clean again after becoming dirty as a Christian. That is a false doctrine.
And the fact that such Christians are repenting over and over again, never becoming PERFECT (James 2:10) in obedience to the law, then such people have clearly never really repented (change of mind) to begin with. And as they put themselves under the law (Rom 3:19) their failure to perfectly obey the law means that they are into lawlessness.
Regarding the law, Christians are not under the law for righteousness (Rom 8:2, Rom 10:4, Gal 3:25, Gal 5:18, 1Tim 1:9). And note that whatever the law says, IT SAYS TO THOSE UNDER IT, Rom 3:19.
Thus we see that nobody can charge Christians with any thing, which includes sin, Rom 8:33.
That means Christians have "CEASED from sin", 1Pet 4:1.
    Christians "CANNOT sin", 1John 3:9.
Christians are certainly not perfect in behavior. But as believers in Christ our life is hid with Christ in God, Col 3:3. Therein lies our sinlessness. It's our position in Christ as believers that determines our sinlessness.
As for that flawed physical body of Christians, it's already dead (by faith, crucified with Christ, Rom 6:6), BECAUSE OF SIN, Rom 8:10.
Jesse Morrell, what you seem to be preaching is a lukewarm mix of works of the law, with grace. God says we cannot mix these two, Rom 11:6.

Jonathan Jen Dale they are the epitome of the false brethren that were exposed in Acts 15 who were teaching exactly the same thing only calling it what it is. The only difference is these moralists use the term "repent of your sins" to cover up the FACT they teach "obey the law to be saved." In acts 15 they said "we gave no such commandment" in regard to obeying the law. Jesse Morrel and anyone like him are accursed of the Lord and will one day drop straight into hell, and that's a sad sad thing.

Antinomians hate the Gospel. They want to keep going on sinning. They hate those who preach repentance. Except for one sect in later Calvinism, there were no Antinomians until Dispensationalism came on the scene. The original Dispensationalists were Calvinists. If you didn't truly repent, how could you keep sinning as if no regeneration took place? Those who have truly been Justified by Faith are still in the flesh, so still might sin, but they are convicted and repent when they do.
Thus, to say "to repenting" is pretend one has not been regenerated, or to rejected the biblical doctrine of Regeneration altogether.
Early Christians were classic Pre-Millennialists, not Dispensationalists.

But unless you can say I am the chief of sinners, you do not know Him. Isa 28:13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

W ow!!!! After listening to Jesse ,he is preaching a "Works" based gospel which is no gospel at all.We are saved by faith but we will continue to sin but less and in Jesus eyes we are justified {just as if i never did} by his blood.I think he is confusing sanctification with salvation ,which is as wesley said is a slicing off of our old carnal nature until Jesus returns .I challenge him to re read Paul's letter to the Romans and Galatian church .He for sure has his wires crossed .But he should be restored but gently not with harsh words .He has what i would say a "Stronghold in his mind which needs to be corrected through the word of God.Once he accepts the truth he could be a powerful tool for the Lord !!!!!! May we all pray for him that our Lord would restore him but gently !!!

Antinomianism is a sin, and if the doctrine of Regeneration is rejected, a heresy, also. A regenerated true believer will do good works. They may sin, but their conscience convicts them and they repent. Repentance after salvation is what a regenerated Christian does BECAUSE he or she is saved!
Dispensationalism started with some Calvinists, but those Calvinists at least believed the Elect will repent of sins. Antinomians refuse to repent when they sin, so who could they possibly be regenerate.
No wonder the modern Church looks like the world! Who cares about how we relate to God and other humans? Most want to keep living for themselves and who cares about the FACT that God is righteous and hates sin because it harms HIS creation!

There is hope for you Jesse and all men. The very fact you are inflamed with wine is a necessary part of our walk. Man will live by every word God spoke. So until one is drunk and lives strong delusion, they will not know the LORD in truth and in Spirit. Deu 29:6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.

The work Paul was speaking against was circumcision. If you don't understand that, you'll never get the true Gospel, that Paul taught from the Old Testament, TO GENTILES.
Paul didn't preach from Eph 2:8-9 and the "romans road".
Paul wasn't inventing new doctrine, He was teaching from the Old Testament, even in His epistles.

I realized that both OSAS and sinless perfection are in error. If you deny that sanctification is a process you actually agree with the OSASers since they deny it too. They say there was no need to get sanctified anymore. Wrong! We are justified if put our faith in the Gospel! If we sin after salvation we need to repent of it to get sanctified. If we succeed then we will be finally saved. Simple as that. Jesus said except ye repent ye all shall likewise perish

@@TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsLW97 it's clear from Corinthians and Galatians that for some people they struggled with complete sanctification.
But it is a necessity. Look at the text in 2 Co 7:1
Paul tells us complete sanctification is a necessity to receive the final salvation. That we find ourselves *perfect* in Christ by pursuing God with all our might. Like a pearl of great price.

You sir are preaching a false gospel of works! You violate Romans 11:6 which clearly says that it is either grace or works. We free gracers never teach that a believer can sin because he is saved, you are a liar sir. Repentance is a change of mind, “not personal sins”. If you think repent means turn from sins, well then you are saying God turned from sin, since he repented In the Old Testemant (Genesis 6:6, Jonah 3:10). You are clearly confused, salvation and discipleship are two separate issues. You act like what you say is not refutable, which it is in careful study of the scriptures. Paul and Silas told the Philippians jailer what he had to do to be saved, that is believe in the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved (Acts 16:30-31). That’s how simple salvation is. It is belief in the gospel and Jesus Christ as one’s own Saviour for salvation (Ephesians 1:12-13, Romans 3:24-26). Anything added or taken away from faith alone in Christ alone is another gospel. Adding the condition to “repent of sins” corrupts the gospel and therefore you have added a work to the gospel of grace and it no longer is grace (Romans 4:4). Where is the verse that says that one must “repent from sins” to be saved?? If that were a condition surely Paul and Silas would have told the Philippian jailer to “repent of sins”, but they didn’t. They told him to believe in Jesus Christ for salvation, period, no works added. Glory belongs to Jesus Christ, it leaves no room for boasting (Ephesians 2:8-9).

@@EricSmyth4Christ I never said "repentance" is a work. You have a false assumption of the free grace camp. Go do your homework. Repentance and faith go hand in hand. Repentance means "a change of mind". In the context of salvation you are changing your mind from a state of unbelief to belief in Jesus (Acts 16:31, John 3:16). Over and over again the emphasis is always faith alone, not works (Romans 4:5). If you believe in works salvation then you don't know the bible or believe it. You sound like a Roman Catholic to me, than an evangelical. I was a former Roman Catholic. You have been bewitched by Jesse's false gospel. It's a shame you're sending lots people to hell with your satanic gospel of works. I will end the conversation here, I don't have time to go back and forth with comments. Yes I believe in easy believism because God's plan of salvation is very easy (John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Romans 1:16, 4:5, Ephesians 1:12,13). I believe The Bible, not your pseudo Roman Catholic gospel of works.
