This reinforces the idea that fighting games are actually strategy games without any pause. Impressive piece of information, even for a scrub in gold league like me.

I consider Tokido, Daigo or Punk to be similar to Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura for chess. They are consistently good and have a natural talent for strategy.

Sometimes it's realy hard to make right descision, even if you know the answer. Right now I'm realy struggle with Akira because of her multiply combo routes. You need to keep your eye on the distance and crouch/stand position to choose optimal route, and it's so hard for my almost auto-pilot style which I worked out on Cammy, who can just confirm into the drill on midscreen and DP in the corner after almost every button without so much thinking about it.
P.S. Thanks for your work Brian. Your channel really helped me to be a little bit better in fighting games.

I usually learn a high stun and a high damage combo and i keep in mind my opponents stun
If he has high stun go for the stun combo, if he has low stun go for damage. I prioritise oki from my combos unless it kills which is why i always have a max damage combo to sneak that last bit of damage in and close rounds. I usually avoid combos that dont leave me with a lot of options.
    Midscreen and corner versions
It sounds like a lot but it comes naturally over time and usually the combo structure stays similar with minor changes for each distance.
Learning a few very consistent combos is worth more generally than a lot of situational ones so that you wont miss out of free damage and stun.

In hftf you get your S tier, you get a hit, default to oki as that’s the easiest shit and gives insane oki, do oki (basically 50/50 or ub for vice) and then do your big goinka boinka combo as you’re almost guaranteed

naturally, this is why you should practice Situations more than the combos themselves. Having a combo for the situation is always better than just having combos. This is what Brian is trying to teach. what do I do if I confirm this button or string? This is what you should be practicing not that big 750 damage combo that you will almost never get

I actually never thought about stun in that way. I've always kinda thought stuns aren't a big deal since they usually happen toward the end of a combo and you'll basically do no damage. Literally never considered just taking the oki and retaining that threat.
