As Michigan body tech, I wouldn't get rid of that bed! Pull the bed off eye ball that bulk head straighten it out! Fix the dent in the tail gate and have that bed lined! Some cool stuff on your channel!

Buy a replacement boxside panel. A new one is only 300 bucks, get a spot weld drillbit, it's was really easy to do just takes some time, weld new panel on, paint match it or have it paint matched
Keep the bed and do the minor repairs. It’s in really good shape. I like my adjustable 3-6” CST on my single cab LML. I was going BDS til I discovered the CST.
Totally saveable i just bought a box that had the same thing on the front rail. Like truck master said going to be hard to find a cleaner box than that!
with the small tires a 4.5 BDS would look good. I have the 7 inch BDS and it looks good because you dont see the torsion bars hanging down like most lifts.

Got a 4.5 bds on mines rides great, still had to take the hammer to it to get full turn with 12 wides. I only wish I would of went for the 4.5 coil over kit instead. Supposed to ride like a brand to half ton. Plus I wouldn’t worry about that bed one bit. Mines factory and it’s skinnier than the cab for whatever reason

You can install anything if they’re outside the wheel wells. I got 305/55-20’s on original rims with no spacers, no mods 2016 2500HD Z71 Dmax

From a longtime Bodyman, you guys are crazy if you replace that bed. Loosen box, split the difference from side to side. Shit, I’ve seen new trucks worse than that. It’s not hand built, it’s a mass produced truck. Weld the seem, or several tack welds, and seam seal it. I would have repaired the tailgate, but if you have one, replace it. Just my 2c.

Ditch the low profile wide over stretched mall crawler tires and wheels. Install a 4 inch suspension lift Fox 2.5 shocks with reservoir, 37 inch tall Nitto mud crawler tires on 18 inch rims. Raptor DIY spray on bed liner. Josh, what are your other jobs ?
Pull the motor and drivetrain and send them off before installing them. Have fun, stay warm.

4 inch lift is perfect, nice look and stance, will fit wheels better, and you will still be able to use it as a truck and get in and out the bed
My 04 duramax bed was the same way with it sticking out in the one side. My buddy that works at a body shop said it someone took it off at one point and just never lined it up
Cab sags a little replace cab mount bushings see what that does the passenger box side I'd definitely pushed in a little get a bed side panel

Definitely a no-go for me on the tires and wheels. I don’t understand the “stanced” look with heavy offset. The tires and wheels the truck came with were perfect.

Suggestion, he can just re-skin the passenger side truck bed. LMC truck sells them as well as JC Whitney. The are relatively inexpensive. Since Dakota is going to paint the truck, that seems to be the best option in my opinion. Also, King shocks are the best of the best. I would look into Cognito lift kits. Super high quality.
BDS 4.5” coil over conversion, better ride quality in the front. Haven’t seen to many install videos on that kit. Would be cool to see.
If the rest of the bed is in decent shape I’d maybe look into just replacing that one bed side

I had 20x12.5 with a -44 offset on my truck with a leveling kit rubbed really bad id go with a lift

Exactly. Cannot stand the absurd offset nonsense with rubberband tires. That's not a truck. It's a bigass car that can't leave the pavement or it'll get a pinchflat.
The offset is not so much what bothers me but the way this truck screams “look at me “ not to hate but I really don’t like these rims. I got a original rims on my 07 and I want a tire that will roll like a tank but screams working man

This whole offset game is no joke my 37x12.50 that are on a -51 offset wheel stick out like 7-8 inches.
I would figure out how to clear those at that height actually throw some lowering shackles on the rear.

When you weld the bed remember it is galvanized. The fumes are toxic. You need to have a fume sucker or remove all paint within a couple inches of the weld. Respirator would be a plus. If not you’ll have the worst head cold symptoms for a couple days. Ask me how I know.
Put it on a lift, borrow a plasma, cut the ifs out, put in a hp 60 and a 4 link. As for king or fox shocks get whichever ones u like the look of more. Not like shocks are doing much probably only uses an 1" of travel

Go all out your truck won't rub at all even if you put 35s on there get a Mcgauheys 7 to 9 inch lift and lift it to 7 1/2.
