How to Setup StorageMgr for PS Vita & PSTV | SD2Vita & USB Storage Install

- StorageMgr is an excellent plugin for modified PS Vita consoles which allows you to easily configure and manage a replacement storage device. Don't want to buy an expensive Vita memory card? Grab a SD2Vita device along with a microSD card and you're set! Using a PSTV or Vita TV? Grab a flash drive and follow the same steps! This also works with the PSVD if you have one and want to use it with a 3G capable 1000 model Vita, just configure StorageMgr accordingly and you'll be good to go!
This tutorial assumes you have a Vita console set up with HENkaku or h-encore and have the basic understanding of how to transfer files as well as modify your config.txt file to load plugins through the taiHEN engine. Everything is shown in here, however for a full tutorial detailing this further check the links further down in this description!

Hello! Please reply. My issue is that I am able to have h-encore and vitashell properly installed and working on ps-vita 1000. But when I use autoplugin to install SD2Vita the microSD card I have works properly and can install games, but this causes Vitashell to say "file is corrupt." When I restore the psvita system Vitashell works again but without the sd2vita. Please help with any suggestions. Thanks

Don't forget to remove 'tai' folder from ux0 folder before inserting SD card. Otherwise your psvita/tv won't detect a correct SD card capacity.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this comment! Removing the 'tai' folder from UX0 on my 4gb Vita card resolved my problem as well and now my SD2BVita works and shows up in VirtuaShell. I thought my SD2Vita was faulty :)

After setting up SD2Vita, what can I do with my Official PSVita Card? Should/Can I delete the files I copied to the SD Card or leave it as is? I was thinking of using the PSVita for Media Files(mp3s/mp4s).

if anyone is having issues with it not working and your using a mac you cant format using disk utility. that messes it up. in terminal run these commands
diskutil list
diskutil unmount /dev/disk2s1
sudo newfs_exfat -R /dev/disk2
then eject the drive and plug it back in and you should be able to transfer in the backup

Does SD2Vita work with firmware 3.73? Also, I just got a vita slim, will I be able to put cfw on it before putting sd2vita on it since the vita slim has 1 gigabyte of internal storage?

It didn't work for me on PSTV 3.73. I used a 32 gb usb.
I made sure to write in the storage_config:
INT=imc0
UMA=ux0
No imc0 showed up in Vitashell, and ux0 was only 1Gig and looks like it's the inner memory card.
I looked at the storagemanager log and it looked fine until it kept repeating: usb mass detection.
It seems like it failed to detect the usb and then put the inner memory as ux0 instead.
Edit: I got it to work by mounting the usb manually through the storagemanager, by pressing triangle, first as uma0 and then ux0. Now it works. The first time I tried to mount it, it said that it couldn't find the usb, so that might be the issue, that it doesn't always recognize the usb, but if you keep removing it and inserting it in the storagemanager, it should work after a few times.
Edit2: Since I couldn't get Adrenaline to work, I decided to downgrade to 3.60. Then I repeated this process for the usb, and now the usb is recognized automatically. So I recommend everybody to just downgrade.
HI Mario I have a question I hope you can help with with. I have a modded Vita with SD2Vita and a 8GB memory card also. I want to use the 8gb memory card in another Vita. As far as I can see removing the memory card does not prevent me playing games, accessing the PS Store etc but I wanted to check with you first, that by removing the memory card it will not effect my modded Vita in any way, and that the only thing I lose is the 8GB of storage? I don't really want to go the the expense of buying a memory card if I don't need to. Your advise on this would be much apprecated. Thanks
I have a Vita slim with 3.65 enso installed using SD2Vita. What I am trying right now is to use a couple of physical games on it so I eject sd2vita, put a game in and the console tells me to install game updates on a memory card. When inserting the card the vita asks to format it but when I do this it restarts and the "your card needs formatting" message appears once again in a loop.
Am I missing something? I set up the storage config txt file so I could have multiple storage at once. Is this to do with the way I installed enso back in the day?

It's not an addon, he's using a pstv in the video which can pair with a dualshock 3/4, although you can still do that with plugins on phat or slim models of the vita, don't remember the name of the plugin though
PS Vita error code c4-13901-4 when connect USB to PC/ Android Box
As the title mentioned, I ain't got any data transfer via USB (the cable) because the PC not even recognize (no sound or notification at all) when plugged in. Whether I was using Vitashell USB mode or Content Manager, it just the same. But the strangely my PS Vita was able to detect whether the USB is connected or not and the charging is ok.
My PS Vita is PCH-1000 with Henkaku-Enso FW 3.60, using SD2VITA 512GB San Disk Micro SD card mounted via YAMT Lite plugin. Also got Sony Memory Card 8GB.
I did:
1) Change different new USB cables (5 cables so far by various brands)
2) format the Sony Memory Card
3) Insert and remove the Sony Memory Card
4) reinstall Henkaku-Enso including Taihen
5) Shift between Storagemgr and YAMT Lite
6) Rebuild Database
7) Check the external side of charging port, seems ok, no bent pins.
EVERYTHING ELSE IS WORKING FINE INCLUDING FTP MODE
I've followed all the steps but it seams that my vita still wont recognise the SD2Vita. Could it be an issue with the SD2Vita adapter? All plugins and cofig files are set up correctly. Ive tried with two Micro SD cards, one old, one rand new.

PS Vita 1000, 3.60 (enso) w/SD2Vita and an official 16GB card.
After restarting the console at the end, it now prompts me to format my card.
I tried removing the official card since formatting it would be a bummer even if I backed it up.
Seems like nothing worked and VitaShell is now gone.
I removed UMA=grw0 because I'm not using a PSTV or a PSVSD... Was I supposed to keep it because SD2Vita Pro and the official card are counted as several storage devices? I mean they are, but this guide is kind of unclear about the UMA line and the other guides pointed towards it only having to do with PSTV and PSVD...
I have a quick question. I have a psvita 1000 and am thinking of picking up a ps tv. I am thinking of putting a large usb for the tv, and a sd2vita on my vita. What lines should i keep or put in the notepad++ for the ps tv in order to use the usb and also be able to plug in the sd2vita once in a while so that I can copy stuff back and forth? (Assuming this is even possible)

I already figured out how to do the sd2vita stuff by doing the 3.70 exploit and downgrading to 3.65. I did not care much about the homebrew stuff, I just wanted to use microSD cards instead of the stupid Vita memory cards. I have 2 64GB and 2 16GB cards and they are all full. Using MicroSD cards is just awesome. Sony could have had a great success with the PS Vita by just doing a couple of things to it ... compare the Vita to the Nintendo 3DS. 3 easy steps: no stupid expensive memory cards, no touch in the back and L2 and R2 buttons => instant success. What baffles me the most is the fact that Sony tried to kill it for years and it still were able to get rid of it. I have doubts about ever buying another Sony product. I like some of the products and games but I really hate them for many of their practices. I think I might just go back to PC gaming for a while and only use GOG, at least for a while until I figure out to whom do I want to give my money in the future.
I haven't used my PSTV in a long time so I'm gonna be getting back into it. I'm using my 2tb external hdd until my SD2VITA comes, but is there any benefits to flashing the image? I never had to do this when I was using a USB SD card reader a couple years ago.

I do everything you say, but it just doesn't read my card when i put it in the console and reboot.

Had the same problem with a USB not sure if its the same.
My dumbass put the actual ux_0 folder into my storage when it needed to be just the files inside of the folder.
Meaning I had it (Storage --> ux_0 --> files)
When it needed to be (Storage --> files)

I put my PSTV 3.68 with h-encore in standby mode and it said memory card disconnected. from that point on h-encore wouldnt boot (error) and none of my homebrew apps and games would work either. Even my apps and games from the PS store now have an error. When i tried to format the Vita memory card it just gave me an error too. Whats going on?
i was trying with yamt before didnt work cuz of samsung evo sd card then started this, should i remove the yamt plugin from kernel before doing this?

Hi! I have a question. In one of the steps you have to copy the contents from ux0 to the new SD card. However, if you keep your internal PS Vita original Memory Stick, that data would be "repeated" right? So can I delete my games from my PS Vita Memory card since they're already contained in the new SD card? Thanks

You have to adjust your settings in VitaShell to connect via USB when you press the Select button as opposed to FTP. I believe that can be adjusted in the Start menu.

so I updated my micro sd card and i see my storage capacity on ux0 which is good. Quick dumb question, I dont see imc0. Do you know what i did wrong or took off from the storageconfig txt? is the imc0 my 4gb ps vita memory card? Just wondering if having an imc0 on pop up on vitashell is crucial to have. Thanks bud! Hey a question about the storage_config changes, if in my device I got a sony sd card in the memory card slot do I still need to delete the MCD=uma0? And also, do I need to delete the UMA=grw0 if I'm aiming to put an SD2VITA card in my device along with the standard 4 gb memory card by sony?
I'm running Henkaku Enso on 3.60. I've followed these steps and it hasn't worked for my PS TV. Is there any chance you could do a video for autoplugin on 3.60 please? I've tried so many tutorials and I still can't get my SD2VITA sorted.
These steps all worked for the multiple 3.60 consoles I've done this on, not any other secrets there so I'm not sure what you might be doing on your end. My existing AutoPlugin tutorial will work just fine.

Having trouble getting a 128GB SD card to work.
I added the ur0:tai\storagemgr.skprx line to the config file, inside the /tai folder in ur0:
For the storage manager config file, I left the MCD line (as I'm using a Vita 1000 and requiring an OEM memory card), and the GCD line, since I'm using an SD2Vita.
Once I copied the ux0 items over to the SD card and booted up the Vita, ux0 still just shows as the 8GB OEM memory card?

@@jeffrayhawkins393 I did, but it's been a while and I don't remember the exact steps. I remember that I had to Google around for some third party VPKs that auto-swapped ur0 and uxo for me. A few of them claimed they would, but didn't, and I eventually stumbled across a shady looking foreign language app that did it for me when I got desperate lol. Check around for some of those auto-swapping programs and see if any work for you.

So i was wondering if i decide to use a SD2vita and the original Ps Vita memory can i keep my digital games and save files on the Micro SD and have the physical games and save files on the Ps vita memory card? Do i just eject the SD2vita and insert the game cartridge and it will switch to the Ps vita memory card automatically?
You can load saves and games from the SD2Vita or the Vita's memory card, not both at the same time. The only way to get anywhere close to that is you could for example keep PSP ISO files on your Vita memory card and use Adrenaline to load them off there.

Can you please help me? I downloaded notepad plus plus to edit storage manager and storage config. However, I was only able to edit storage config. When I try to edit storage manager it's all in some code and I can't edit it. Is there anyway I can get it to be taken out of code so I can edit it?
You don't edit the .skprx plugin, you edit the configuration files. Those are the text files.
Is there anyway to jailbreak and install homebrew without an original memory card on 3.70? I have a original ps vita and a sd2vita. Haven't gotten myself an original memory card yet

But is there a way to add the storage of the sd card into the original ux0 instead of replacing it? You can only use your SD card after you modify the system.
So I did everything. Got my sd2vita acknowledging I have 238gb SD card but my molecular shell and enso apps disappeared! Enso is still booting up first though. Any thought? Bad? Good? Should I download the molecular shell again?will it interfere with what I've already done?

I've been looking around, and I can't seem to find an answer. I use my PS4 controller when I want to play my PSTV, and have to sync it back and forth. Is there a safe way to sync my PS4 controller / any new controller to the PSTV once I've attached usb storage? What would your recommendation be?

Ughhh this is the third method I've tried and each time I reboot the system with the sd2vita in it I get a black screen or I get the boot logo and then nothing happens until I remove the card
The adapters broke mate a lot of them are. Just wasted a day and a half then popped it open to see lapping and snapped/bent prongs
Since it goes in the game area, after it's all set up and usable, are you able to take it out and interchange it with other games?

Cheers bro I did it all and it didn’t work but then I did it and went on the app on my vita clicked “make SD2Vita=ux0” and it worked :-) james tech didn’t manage to pull it off this time! :) only problem I have now is for some reason I have a config file in my ur0 AND my ux0 which is a bit weird! ☺️😂 thanks man you’re a boss very “to the point” and no technical jargon. My sd card is getting corrupted and my windows is refusing to format it also its not popping up in the computer and not prompting me to format it. I have used 2 different sd cards and still nothing! Please help me!!!
Something you're doing is corrupting your SD cards, not sure what you're doing incorrectly. I've done this across several consoles with different types of SD cards, none have been corrupted. Might be the adapter you're using, or something else you're doing incorrectly?

Hi, I have a PS Vita 3.68 that was jail broken with HenKaKU and also updated with SD2Vita 128GB memory card. I would like to UPGRADE the memory card to a 256GB card. Can i just format the new card and copy the files over? Or do i need to do more?
Copy and paste all the content from your 128 GB card to your 256 GB card then swap it in.

So I copied all the folders and files From the Vitas 128GB MicroSD card to a temporary folder on my PC using a SD card reader. I formatted my 256GB microSD to ExFat and copied the files from the folder to the 256GB microSD card. When I try and run any of the games I get a corrupted file error. Is there a different way for me to copy the file? or is the formatting incorrect? Your help is appreciated.
I have a problem, when I set up uma0 to uxo all apps (molecular shell, vitashell, enso ect...) disappear. What can I do?
I followed all of this and it won't show up at all, ux0 just shows up as 1.05 gb :(
Double check your work, either the configuration wasn't set up correctly or your plugin isn't registering.

@@MrMario2011 I was under the impression that I couldn't switch because all of my research about it had people saying yes and no. I couldn't get a consistent answer. Some also said it would brick the device if I continue to use my Sony 4gb and 32gb. So I am confused. I went ahead to just switch them anyway but everything was fine, only no vita shell and other homebrew. I wanted to know because I still had save data and games on my other cards.
Hello, so i have a question. what happens to the files i already have on the official memory card when i set the sd2vita as the uxo? do they automatically transfer over or do i have to do it myself. is it simple as just copy and paste??
I want to figure out if i go sd2vita ux0 and memory card uma0 its ok? And if i remove the sd2vita the vita will open files from memory as uma0?
I made all and still seeing same internal capacity :(
