      @@hasanhamzah1149 Iban is Malayo-Polynesian. While Polynesian is another branch of Austronesian. Of course, Iban is related to Malays from Malayic languages which also branch of the Austronesian language family. It is thought that the homeland of the Malayic languages is in western Borneo, where the Ibanic languages remain. The Malayan branch represents a secondary dispersal, probably from central Sumatra but possibly also from Borneo. In fact, Ibanic language also branches from Malayic language. For a simple view, Austronesian -> Malayo-Polynesian, -> Malayic -> Ibanic. There is also another Ibanic sub-group which related to each other which is Remun, Mualang, Seberuang, Sebuyau, and Bala'u.

    Im so proud as iban people and thank you for channelling our beautiful traditional culture in your videos. But don't misunderstanding, this is Iban traditional village and culture because nowadays a lot of Iban people build their life in the city. Our traditional village and culture really give a big impact in our tourism industry as the tourist always come and visit us . In fact, some of the iban remain to live in traditional longhouse because that's way for them to attract tourist attention even nowadays most of us live in the modern longhouse or frankly in the city .. For your information, Henry Golding is half Iban half European

    When you were in Kota Bharu during last Ramadhan, did you try Tuak? That Tuak is from “nira” or palm nectar in English, and I believe it’s different from Sarawak tuak. Btw, enjoy your stay at the longhouse.

    Long House. Exist everywhere even in urban areas. In town there is row n row of concrete house. Or there is row n row of houses build on top of each other. Intown we called that flat or apartment. Structure of building with individual dwelling similar to longhouse. The only difference is people staying in urban longhouse consist of many ethnicity. Another difference is they don't mixed so well.

      Hello, Shiro! Ohh really? I can imagine how much fun you had, playing with rest of the children and having so much space to run round! Sad that they demolished, was it an old traditional wooden one?

    • @zen.2746
      @zen.2746 6 років тому

      Beer For Breakfast Yes, it's the old wooden house and quite similar with the long house in the video. 😁 It was really fun. They used to have hammock too. I think the people there replace it with new, modern long house.

      Well, I come from a longhouse too, but our longhouse is a bit modern but the structure and its design is still a typical Iban Longhouse of the old days. Anyway, our longhouse is a bit further from the one you visited in Lubok Antu, not far from a town called Saratok. It is reachable by car along the Pan-Borneo Road.
