    I agree with you about the "Act like a senior engineer" statement. It is almost impossible to fake against interviewers who are usually senior themselves.
    I also have doubts about building things to go on the resume. Building things is great for skills development but I have spoken to more than one recruiter where I live who made it clear that, in the current market, the only experience and skills that matter to them are those gained in a job I.e. commercial experience. In the words of one recruiter - " why should I hire someone with just home learned skills when there are experienced devs looking for work?"

      IMO the concepts are what matter. these stupid fucking recruiters dont know dick from shit. I just learn new skills and say I did them in my last job and put it on my resume., I do get tons of interviews. But as you may know the interviews ask you to code some random thing and in my experience in the last year, I have to be perfect. I cannot get stuck at all, if I do, im rejected. Ive never been perfect before in any interview, so I dont know how anyone is getting jobs these days.

      This kind of testing is the dumbest shit ever. Coding is only one part and who's not using Google or ChatGPT for simple things. It's school all over again: if you are good at memorizing everything you get good grades. Says nothing about how good of an engineer or developer you are.
      But it's easy to test
