I know this is a year old but do you think you could do a video on Sir Dinadan? He's my favourite knight and his interactions with Tristan are no short of amusing!
Arthurian legend is sorely represented in movie entertainment. John Boreman's, Excalibur, was a masterpiece. Forty-years later, all we've learned as fans is how little writing talent is permitted a shot at a retelling.
I am really enjoying these videos about the Arthurian Knights! I am a noob when it comes to the Arthurian Legends so your videos is teaching me a lot about it, I hope you will continue to make more videos about it! Also will you be doing videos on Mordred and Galehaut ?
Glad you like them! I have quite a few of these planned, and both Galehaut, and Mordred are on the list. Arthurian Legend is an awesome topic to get into, i am glad that you have decided to get into it.
@ParryThis it's more than likely. It was used as a direct source seeing as the main antagonist that the 16 year old Tristan, Lancelot, Percival, and Gawain have is King Arthur of Camelot. It's just fun to see the source material
I have to write a thesis on the middle English version of Ser Tristrem and the way he dies in this one is very far from what I expected. The only legend to include Tristan among the knights of the round table should be based on Malory's prose version of the story, as in the 12th century version or even the older versions make no mention of King Arthur. It's all really fascinating knowing about all the different versions.
Isnt he like, the only good knight from cornwall? From what I understand, cornish knights have always had a reputation as being the worst in the isles.
There are actually a few times in Arthurian Legend where someone makes a crack about how all the knights from cornwall are shite. Idk the cultural background though, not being from the isles myself.
Probably. I am currently taking a little break to work on other projects, but i will likely keep making Arthurian stuff for a long time. Its quite an interest of mine.
The interesting thing about Sir Tristan and King Mark of Cornwall is my family used to be kings of Cornwall before the Saxons came, while I don't know/think that King Mark or Tristan (or Tristram) are necessarily real or at least as depicted in legend this does hit close to home and I can't help but speculate. It's definitely biased when I say he is one of my favorites. Then again I don't have one particular favorite Knight from Arthurian legend.
Well, that's simply not true. The character of tristram likely originated with Welsh poems, but it was developed all the way up through the 16th century, by Welsh, English, and French authors. And much of Arthurian Legend is not celtic in origin, but in fact a creation of several French writers.
My name is Tristan. Was always a strange when I was young but it grew on me as I got older.
Yeah, its a less common name nowadays. I imagine like anything, it grows on you over time.
Named my son after Tristan and Alexander it his gay and I love it🤣
Same
Tristan is my favourite name. I first heard it when I was a child and it instantly hit me deep in heart and soul.
I didn't expect sir Tristan to die so quickly and young. I am sad
Fate/Grand Order reference?
This story is why I've always been proud that my name is Tristan
I just love listening to these king arthur stories. So much good stuff in them. Great job!
Glad you like them!

7 Deadly Sins lore goes hard.
They even reference Lancelot and Tristan's duel

Are any Seven Deadly sins hearing this, thinking "KING WTF"
I do not understand this comment. Is it in reference to some arthurian media?
@@ParryThis technically yes. There’s an Anime calling 7 Deadly sins in which the characters and part of the lore is based off of Arthurian legend
See, here's a knight that seems like a straight up good guy. Sucks that he got taken out like that, but I guess thats the only way to beat the best.
Yeah, it really does suck, because he is one of the most interesting characters in my opinion.
Yeah a lame way for him to go but what can you do
Yikes. His mother gave birth in the middle of nowhere? Knights, battles and castles...oh my!!
Yeah, makes modern childbirth sound like a walk in the park.
Arthurian legend is sorely represented in movie entertainment. John Boreman's, Excalibur, was a masterpiece. Forty-years later, all we've learned as fans is how little writing talent is permitted a shot at a retelling.
Correct. Most modern adaptations of Arthurian legend are thin surface level retellings of the same three or four stories.
I love Excalibur. As a child I had no idea what was going on but that didn't stop me from watching it every now and than.
Thanks for the story. Fine one
Glad you enjoyed it
Love these videos! Thanks for the upload!
Glad you like them!
Love the video, knew my name was Cornish, spelt Tristram. Thank you.
That's awesome. Named after the night, or parents just like the name, i wonder?
@@ParryThis My Dad was from Cornwall and guess he just liked the name 🙂
@@tristaylor5492 Well, that makes sense.
Kinda sad that you seem to quit UA-cam, would've been nice if we got a video about sir Dinadan as well.

@@ParryThis2 years and still waiting on that Galehaut Video
Now hearing this I noticed its exactly like nanatsu no taizai story
That's very likely. A lot of modern stories are retellings of Arthurian tales, as most of Arthurian Literature is in the public domain.

So Tristan died before Dinadan. That's rough for the joker.
Yeah, Dinidan was pretty bummed out about Tristan's death. but, he outlived many of the great knights of the round table.

Yo Sir Tristan the empire is pretty chill maybe you can like join it or something
A compelling argument to be sure, i am sure the good Sir Tristram will take that under consideration.
