See, in remember reading in a book once that Sir Kay was one of Arthur's greatest knights and friends. Thats why I never understood why he is a bad guy in many movies. Thanks for clearing this up.
It's mainly to show that it's human for Kay to be jealous of Arthur since even a beloved king can't escape the jealous of others, even in his own family. But at least in the Disney animated "The Sword in the Stone" Kay AND Ector don't know Arthur is the son of the former king, so their meanness toward him is more out of ignorance and the reality of just how important lineage was to the medieval world they lived in compared to education. Only Merlin knew the truth, but he wanted Arthur to understand how little lineage actually means in the long run of running a country.
Prince of the plunder, / The unrelenting warrior to his enemy; / Heavy was he in his vengeance; / Terrible was his fighting. When he would drink from a horn, / He would drink as much as four; / When into battle he came / He slew as would a hundred. Unless God should accomplish it, / Cei's death would be unattainable
I love Sir Kay as a character. He is my number one favorite character of all time. I grew up to be a sucker for disneys “the sword in the stone” so I kinda dont hate Sir Kay being a dick, but at the same time he was done so wrong compared to old stories. He was a full blown adult getting battered and bruised and was just a jerk. this also goes onto more modern media that it makes me sad seeing the flanderization of his hot headed traits. When Lancelot became a knight, he got his ass handed to him When Percival became a knight, he was a jerk When Gareth became a knight, he was a jerk Whats probably something I hate in some modern stories is whenever Sir Kay dies, almost no knight cares, He’s not even seen as a hero and is depicted as evil as Mordred! He’s a nice knight doing what he wants to do, defend and fight with Arthur. Its like the term “out with the old, in with the new” and it surely applies to Kay. We need justice for him, He’s not a villain, he’s a hero
If there's one adaptation that does Sir Kay justice, personally, I think it's Fate/Stay Night's version. The guy's a tsundere and boorish, but he doesn't care for the bullshit, and only tags along because King Arthur happens to be his sister, and continues to be the grounded guy who tries to keep things together. He's loving towards his sibling, but tries not to show it, and pretends to be a jerk about it.
Depends on the person, but typically, i like to draw from Le Morte D'Arthur, The 12 Romances of Chretian De Troyes, and The Once and Future King, by TH White. But sometimes i use earlier sources, like Welsh Poems, like in this video, and in others, scattered stories from the 12th and 13th century.

No problem. I am glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to rectify this oversight.

Fun facts Sir Kay because the most loyal Knight to King Arthur. a 10 times greater knight then Lancelot
Yeah, especially if you base it off the original stories. Kay was almost a demi god on the battlefield.

Nice.

Personally one of my favourites, along with Percival and Bedieve.
Same. Good knights all around, with interesting stories, and impressive feats.

Well, that certainly sounds better than the depiction he usually gets as a stupid bully that can only defeat the weak and defenseless.
@@ParryThis sadly In fate we don't know much about his fighting capabilities
Kay was Guts, and Arthur was Griffith (powerlevel-wise). I mean, Arthur unquestionably was the leader, but Kay was his personal one-man army.
If you’re worried about it being too long you could always make a part two👍🏼
I considered it, but i think it turned out pretty good.
Kay and Bedivere are the best of King Arthur’s knights imo because they remain with him from start to finish.
I would really like to hear you do the full story of the sword in the stone.
I think i may do the full story when i am done with my biographies.
I really like these videos, they are interesting and very fun to watch. Probably because you enjoy making them.
Glad you like them!

You are so welcome! Thank you very much./

What kind of source material do you use to make these videos?

The Sword In The Stone was my only knowledge of him, until now. Disney sure does affect our knowledge.
Ser Kay remind me of Author from Peaky blinders
I haven't seen much of peaky blinders, but now i kind of want to.
Cool.
Cool.
Damn that gal and her gilded box :)
Yeah, never underestimate the power of a woman's box.
