    i like to listen to music that emotionally fits the story that i'm writing and then i can zone out and think about how the story will go from there. another thing i've done before is think about everything that cannot happen, and then it helps to narrow down the posibilities of what's next

      I love that!!!! Thinking about everything that cannot happen is such a cool strategy, I’ll have to try that out!

    I’ve never written a book before but i have written and record 10+ music albums and EP’s.
    My hack for immersion and staying in that flow state of writing is by having a blank piece of paper off to the side where I can do anything creative on it any time I feel like I’m drifting from the song or story I am writing. I do this because most of the time where I am struggling to stay motivated is simply I am staring at text for too long and need to allow myself the freedom to do whatever I want creatively. Having that scratch paper handy helps me with that big time.
    Sometimes I draw characters, venn diagram and even a web of ideas. Literally anything goes on that paper. If you have ever seen how Eminem writes his rhymes, you can imagine that most of my pages will look like that.
    Hopefully this helps you. Keep creating and making these great videos. The UA-cam algorithm is working in your favor
    And also inserting fantasy emoji 🐉

    Music is a big one for me! I’ll listen to soundtracks and songs and use the things that capture the essence of my story and make it into a separate playlist

    Yes! ACOMAF feels very fever dreamish! I think the most I've ever written in a day was 11,000 words, and that was a very, very good day. My Saturdays are similar to this routine, but I usually get a walk outside in the morning. I need it to brainstorm.

      Also, check out Sean Study for great lo fi and beautiful scenery to play while you write

      lol I’m so glad somebody understood what I meant by that lol!! I love walks in the morning too ✨✨ activities where you get your body moving so your mind can just wander and think about your story are my favorite for brainstorming!! 11k is crazy hahaha I’m hoping to do a 10k day one day!

    Ok go off! Another plant based girly, love to see it. ACOTAR is such a great book to pull you out of a reading slump and then put you right back in one lol. 18k in a day still blows my mind, she would have had to be in such a groove.
    Thank you for the mention!!

    Hope you're enjoying getting back into writing. I'm also working on my first adult romantasy and I haven't written since my younger years on Miss. Literati (idk if I'm spelling it right)! I wonder if you were one of my writing buddies from there, I never hear anyone talk about it!!! Happy writing and good luck on your journey 😊

      OMG YOU WERE ON MISS LITERATI!!!! I literally have not heard anyone talk about it since and was starting to wonder if I imagined the whole thing hahahahaha. Happy writing- so cool that we have those parallels!! 🫶🏼✨

      @@briellewrites I know!!! I wrote a cringey story that became popular there, but I was starting to think I fever dreamed it lol!! Now, I'm trying to get back but idk if I can reach 12 year old me fame 😭 can't wait to see how you progress in your story!!

    I write mostly on Desktop and I have found that if I'm not really creative and move to like my bed and write from my phone I do seem to write faster and things tend to flow better. But I have to write listing to lofi music or else I can't concentrate because I burst into song lmao

    I'm a mixed bag when it comes to listening to music while writing. I usually have a random playlist playing in the background but I have also had one project where I simply COULD NOT listen to anything lolol
    Your MS sounds really cool! I love romantasy and I'm a huge sucker for journey books. Really looking forward to hearing more about it! Good luck with drafting! 52k is HUGE!
    As for your question: I like to make pinterest boards with pictures that have the same vibe I am going for

      Thanks Thomas!!! lol that’s funny that the music thing has varied between projects for you- I never listen to anything while writing tho I like the white noise of music playing in a coffee shop since I mostly tune it out lol

    I wish I had better tricks for blocking out actions. Does anyone ask their friends/partners/siblings to recreate movements with them? I usually see it like a movie in my head so then I just write what I'm seeing. (And save the real problems for editing!) Good progress!

    • @briellewrites
      @briellewrites  9 місяців тому +1

      that's honestly so nice that you just see it as a movie in ur head!!! that only happens to me with occasional scenes but it is so nice when it does lol.

    hi there yt rec'd your video to me 🐉🐉🐉awesome video btw. Also quick Q: You talk about writing chapters but i'm curious how you know to divide the story into chapters? That's something i can't wrap my head around tbh

    • @briellewrites
      @briellewrites  9 місяців тому

      hey!!! so the breaking down into chapters actually comes pretty intuitively to me at this point. I couldn't wrap my head around how long a chapter was supposed to be/when to cut it off at the beginning either, but it typically comes about pretty naturally once you start writing. as a guideline, my typical chapters tend to range from around 1K-3K words and ive heard authors say similar things. keep in mind genre and such too- YA chapters are usually shorter, etc. sometimes my chapters contain one longer scene, sometimes a few shorter scenes- there's usually a sort of gut feeling that the chapter has come to an end.

      @@briellewrites that makes sense yep thanks for answering. i haven't really dived fully into writing the manuscript though i did write my first nano last November but the whole chapters thing was something that boggled my mind so that's why i asked. thanks again and all the best to you on your journey! ^^
