Right now I think you brothers have become my fave toy people (especially marvel stuff) Keep on keeping on, you both do an awesome job. And Hasbro Red Hulk STILL rocks the house. I have him in my Thunderbolts set up
If you like that one, check out GR Annual #2 from the 90s. It was one of Warren Ellis' 1st Marvel issues and it features a super strong Scarecrow who heals when he's around afraid people. So the GR punishes his viscous crimes by breaking every bone in his body and holding him in that odd position til his body heals incorrectly and like a pretzel. He drops him on the ground and takes off. Total savage.
@@thestrongcollectors It's badass. Scarecrow is facing off with the Rider and is threatening to kill his hostages when GR says: "When you have killed all the innocents, Scarecrow...What then will prevent me from exacting my Vengeance a thousand times heavier?" If it’s a Ketch wave there’s Deathwatch, mullet Blaze, Blackout, Lilith, Caretaker. It may be a lot of new tooling for a retro wave but I hope it’s Ketch centric. And I hope it drops a month or so before Halloween for some added atmosphere.
Johnny Blaze, Danny Ketch/Ghost Rider, Vengeance, Blackout, Hellstrom, and Etrigan the Demon. Pretty sure Dan specified that the anonymous, forthcoming "rider" was NOT going to be a motorcycle. Also, I would assume that the reason Ant-Man cast Hank Pym as a mentor to Scott had more to do with Hank's troubling character legacy as a wife beater more than anything else. So there's no reason to assume that the MCU's Ghostrider will not be Johhny Blaze. There is literally no other example of the MCU going with a hero's second iteration. Captain Marvel doesn't count because Carol is, and has been the current Captain Marvel for years, and Mar-Vell died decades ago.
I think after the Classified teams successful Vamp and Clutch $100 set, is it unreasonable to think they may cave and release the Engine of Vengeance? Then release the tier figures separately?
I think it's possible but I think it would be down the line quite a ways. They can't fail at something then put it out too soon. I'd think they would shelve the EOV itself for maybe 5 years before coming back to it. Maybe some of the tiers though in alternate looks.
Been wanting ketch as I had him as a kid on the toybiz and he’s long overdue. What if they put him on the retro card and like the iron man retro proton cannon, put the bike inside a separate box and have both inside one of the shipper boxes that may have some cool deco on it. I would buy 2.
I think that would be ideal. It seems like no matter how it gets made it will probably be windowless kind of like the Hawkeye we just got and I would rather see it with the retro look.
It feels like Ghost Rider characters aren't popular enough for Hasbro to have done but maybe if we got one each year or a couple we'd eventually see a decent Hasbro collection built for him.
Great video, fellas. That Alejandra crossover with Venom, Red Hulk and X-23 was called Circle of Four, BTW and was another homage to New FF lineup. GR is my absolute favorite, and while I'd love Hasbro to do a ton of Toybiz homages, I'm not sure how well they'd sell outside of a few very toyetic characters from original line. (90s Blaze, the vampire Blackout and demon Skinner) Zarathos was/is Blaze's possessing spirit but was separated and was a villain in the 90s. Would love a Marvel Scarecrow to battle GR too. A new Ketch and bike would sell well I think, HOWEVER, their recent Retro release Blaze may have spoiled the fun by painting an old Rhino Wave Blaze GR the same color scheme as Danny's GR (sans spikes, etc) which is a totally different character. So we could have a Blaze GR and a new Ketch GR figure painted almost the same. 😨 Anyway...for reading, I would controversially tell you to avoid most of the early 70s run. It is convoluted early on but has a few gems. Issue 68 is a Roger Stern masterpiece and the run does get excellent at the end with JM DeMatteis. I would recommend the first 7 issues of the 90s run by Howard Mackie. They are near perfect and turned a book predicted to be a massive failure by other Marvel staff into a smash hit success. I can't suggest them enough and art is stellar. But if you want a slightly more recent grind house style insane read, I'd suggest Jason Aaron's run from 2008. Every issue is totally nuts and art is killer. Him and Tony Moore do a whole backstory featuring Riders throughout time that is just epic. Sorry for the lengthy response...keep up the good work!
This was an amazing response! Thank you. super informative. I'll check out the 2008 run for sure, I'd love to see the Riders throughout time. And maybe some of the older stuff you mentioned too. I feel like now that I've seen Zarathos I really want him as a figure. He looks awesome.
We need a Danny Ketch for sure. That should be a no brainer riders series. Then on retro I would say Lilith, Zarathos, Blackheart and finally a Mephisto
Yeah that's one of my big hopes for the Ghost Rider retro card. and even going back to the FF retro wave since they don't have a big on on yet, I'd love to see Dragon Man there.
A retro Ghost Rider wave is likely. Filler to match FF's small assortment+wave is a good theory as to quantity. The Rider Series is definitely going to have Dan Ketch & Vengeance and possibly the female Ghost Rider... at sOmE point. Blackheart will possibly be a random deluxe like Mojo. The Ghost Rider retro figures will likely contain: Caretaker, Black Rose, Blaze, Zarathos, Blackout and Skinner.
I'm not sure if we misspoke in the episode but it won't be a new Rider wave just a single 1 off like the rider waves from before. If it was a wave i'd be confident in a Danny but if it's just 1 i think there are others it could be that might bump him out at least for now sadly.
@@thestrongcollectorsyou were clear. I mentioned the Rider Series Rider it could be. In a probable order. I am beyond aware Rider Figures dont appear in waves.
Nice video. The Jesus-like character of the 1970s was introduced by the writer to "save" Johnny Blaze, but when the big reveal story came to the Marvel offices, it read like Marvel was saying that Judeo-Christian beliefs were the official "Spiritual Truth" of the Marvel Universe, and a lot of readers would likely be offended by that notion. For that reason, the story was reworked in-office, to make the nameless "Friend" part of a ploy for Satan to enslave Johnny. I think it improved the story. Satan is a deceiver, after all.
Interesting. I wonder how that would play out today. I could see it being cool but also upsetting more people. You'd get the people that don't want Jesus in the books because they don't want religion put in. Then I could see the hard core right being mad that Jesus is put in the comics because it's not in line with their values.
Dakota, you got to get over the dislike of non-recent comics. There are a lot of old comics with literary value. I hope you can experience and enjoy all art, not just recent stuff. If you are worried about being overwhelmed with how much there is out there, don't. We are all in the same boat. If you had the same issue with movies, music, and literature, I think you can easily see how you would be missing out on a lot of good stuff. 👍
Yeah it's just so rare that I enjoy any of the older stuff as much as the new. I would like to eventually get around to reading the Jim Lee Xmen stuff. I've read a few issues here and there that came with the ToyBiz Legends. What's a sure fire good Marvel story that's older you'd recommend. Preferably the shorter the better so I can get to the 100s of other stories I have saved too.
