- WE ARE LEAVING FOR GERMANY// Hello lovely people, We kept quiet about our trip to Germany because we only knew a week prior to our trip that it was actually going to happen. We were about to cancel the trip but then the UK changed the travel regulations with France. It was so emotional and I shed many tears because at first we gave up of seeing our family this year and then I shed some more tears of happiness when we heard we could go. It was a real emotional rollercoaster which the thumbnail shows. We can't tell you how happy we are to be with our family in Germany and spend some time with them all. We took the train from Folkestone to Calais because it's so easy to use the Eurotunnel if you want to travel by car. So if you're looking for a great way of how to travel from England to Germany during Covid, you might want to check out our video.
We visit the capital of Saarland, Saarbrücken to buy a few things but mostly to do some typical German things like eating a Bratwurst and buying cake. We miss all those yummy cakes that you can get in Germany :)
Joerg and I used to have a house in Germany with a bigger garden and before we sold we gave some of the plants to our parents so they could plant them in a herbaceous border in their own garden. It's a little memory and so nice! We hope you will enjoy the video. Kirsten & Joerg xx

So fascinating! I live in the States so the idea of a car on a train is new to me! Thanks!
I understand why you are so lovely. You come from good stock! Thank you for sharing your family with all of us.
Thanks so much!
The German pastries look so delicious! I still miss those bakeries. Every little corner bakery had better bread than you can get practically anywhere in the U.S. It was nice seeing Kirsten's mom and lovely garden and I look forward to meeting Joerg's mom!
So glad you enjoyed it Deborah!
Oh my, I loved every moment of this video🪴 I long to travel to Europe one day, i’m an old lady but it’s still a dream of mine- Traveling along with you today, I felt like I was actually there🌺 Thank You Both 💐
That's so lovely!
I hope your wish comes true.

Hi to your mom! beautiful garden. God bless you from America!
Thank you! Sadly I lost my wonderful mother only 5 months ago (we posted it in the community tab) - it's an incredibly hard time because we were very very close.
You guys are so awesome and calming. There nothing calming in America these days
Thanks so much!
How lovely to “meet” your Mum!. I’d say that she has green fingers, the garden is so pretty. Looking forward to seeing you again soon, happy holiday!
Случайно появился ролик с вашими путешествиями в ютубе. И теперь я часто путешествую вместе с вами. Большая вам благодарность за прекрасные живые картины. У Вас Kirsten , очень милая мама. Мира Вам и благополучия.
Thank you so much!
My goodness! How amazing...traveling in your car in a train! Ingenious...
Germany is just beautiful! My daughter went with school and said it's stunning!
Awww the happiness of being on home ground is so visible in your voice, it's great to see that.
Thanks so much!
I have to tell you that when you showed the bakery my mouth started watering! How I miss those German bakeries. I was trying to think of my favorite pastry but had such a hard time, I love it all! But my favorite street food has to be Nurnberger bratwurst. I would gladly give my right hand for a month in Germany.
Love this, saw the last one and still interesting. Thanks, homesick for Germany, but very very luckily a new bakery just opened in my little U.S southern town that is owned operated and run by a German baker!!!!! Looking forward to your next video.
I love travelling in Germany - the bakeries, the resturants, the bookshops, the Opera houses, the beautiful villages and the fantastic beer and the best marzipan in the world - as a tourist destination it's so underrated but all my travels there have been absolutely fantastic.
I can tell from your expression how happy you guys are... So glad to see this vlog, God Bless you all!
Thank you so much!
You two are so delightful, like old friends now. Enjoy your visit....Moms are so special and yours is a doll.
Enjoyed every minute. Love traveling
Isn't it funny that I've never been to Germany and I'm from Poland? I've been living in Scotland for many years now and share your sentiment for missing pastries from my home country. It's such a sweet idea from your mum to keep your flowers.
Wonderful. Happy for you both. Hope we get to "meet" Joerg's mom. Enjoy , enjoy.
Love Erwin! Adorable at home in a beautiful garden. The bakery was so enticing. I wish that type of bread was available in the U.S.
I’m so happy for you getting to go to Germany 🇩🇪! Thank you for filming the journey, the crossing and the bakery and the little town. So lovely. You didn’t skimp in the details and I love it. I’m glad you have your plants at your sweet mum’s house. The dark color of the back fence makes the plants look even lovelier. What a great design idea. I’m glad you found a print of your hometown. Can’t wait for more!
You are such a special couple! Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us!
I love that y'all are filming this trip again! Those of us who are across the pond here in the US can't really go anywhere interesting by car...by train, by car... SO COOL!!!
Thank you Kirsten and Joerg for sharing this venture to Germany. I do love the train ride. 🥰
Kirsten, your Mom is lovely, she has such a sweet smile, and she is obviously a talented gardener. Thank you and Joerg for this lovely video. Enjoy your holidays !! ❤
Wooo hoooo! I am from Metz and leaving now in London. You remind me so many wonderful memories from home!!! Oh my mouth is watering just thinking about Apfel strudel, schwarzwalder, streusel, stollen,...!!! Have a fantastic time xxx
Lovely to see you so happy in your home land. The cakes look so delicious and your Mum has taken great care of your plants! I look forward to more of your Germany trip. :)
Wow,that train is awesome! Love this video.
I loved the trip, looking around the village, bakeries, and seeing your lovely mother who has taken care of your plants.
Thanks so much!
I loved seeing Germany and what the Chunnel train trip looks like . The pastries and chocolates looked absolutely scrumptious ! It was so nice to see your mom and her garden Kirsten . I really enjoy hearing you speak German as well . I'm always trying to teach myself other languages , it's hard ! I can't wait for the next part of your journey ! 💕💕🇨🇦
Have a lovely holiday.
Aww! So nice to "meet" your mom, Kirsten! Happy you two got back home! Enjoy! 👍😎🇨🇦🥨🥮🍰🥧🍫🍬🍭
You both are such a lovely couple. I know how you feel when you go home and the food that you have missed. I’m from Scotland and I miss my favorite foods also.
Loved this " poor man's trip to Germany". I remember the first time I went to Germany as a student in 1969 and discovering "Amerikaner" and "Koelsch" and so many things. The last time I was in Germany was in 2012 and I was impressed back then by the bottle return machines - how easy it was. I love watching your trips - in either country. Now off to bake Zwetschgendatschi!
Nothing better than home sweet home! Enjoy your vacation and family!
Can I just say I have had the day from hell in Scotland. Watching your video and your journey you have no idea how it has cheered me up and calmed me down. It's so lovely to see your mother and come along with you on the next leg of your trip. xx
Awe. Sorry to read you had an awful experience in Scotland, my home country, Jemima.
I enjoyed your video very much. My husband is from France and I told him about the cars going in the trains. He couldn’t believe it. He hasn’t lived in France in over 20 years. I told him I would show him your video. It’s really nice to see your mom and I think she’s lovely. Looking forward to more! :)
Just wanted to say I hope you both have a wonderful trip and really enjoy your precious time with your family. What a blessing. I also enjoy Joerg's appetite, it's always amazing to see those who can eat much but never show it!!😁!
You look so happy . Its wonderful to visit family, your mum looks so sweet . Have a great trip
What a wonderful trip!!! Those pastries look amazing!! And your mother is lovely!! What a fantastic garden!!!
Absolutely thrilled for you both that the trip was “on”. I’d say “savour every moment” but “savour every morsel” Joerg as well. I have to say “being an old bird” as soon as Black Forest is mentioned it reminds me of being very little at my late Aunt and Uncle’s house here in Uk and they had a new instrumental record “A Walk in the Black Forest” - very popular in mid 1960s! Have a great time and thanks for sharing. x
Your Mother's garden is charming! It would be hard to decide what to get from the bakery. Thank you for sharing your trip and I'm happy that you were able to go home and visit. There is nothing like going home when you've been away.
Im so happy you got to go home! My friend says Germany is one of the most beautiful places she has been. Please ship me some pastries to the US. We have nothing like that close to me. Hope all of your family is well. Your mom is adorable.
I have Memory Keeping Journals! I like that too. Capturing all the moments and all the things that God does in our lives. I would like for you to keep posting these as well 🎉
What a treat to learn about Germany, the train ride, and the pastries! I hope you've enjoyed your trip and your families! Thank you.
Your thumbnail had me worried, and I almost didn’t click on your video, because I was afraid of bad news. I checked the comments first and saw that all was well. How wonderful that you are travelling to see your parents again! I enjoyed seeing the trip to the train again…it is such a unique and exciting thing to be on a train, in your car, and passing through all that water, and then you’re in France! Your Mother’s garden is beautiful and all your transplanted flowers are being well-tended by her. Enjoy the rest of your trip, Kirsten and Joerg! Stay well and safe!
How very thrilling for you to finally meet up with family once again! The church bell’s chiming was gorgeous. The food looked yummy and your mother is delightful. Get your trips in quickly before things ramp up again! The best to two lovely people. Mary
Thank you for the wonderful train ride and seeing a bit of Germany. Lovely!
Thank you for taking us all along on your trip home! That Chunnel is just wonderful. We went on it as passengers about 20 years ago on our very first trip to England and France! I’ve never been to Germany. It looks charming and that bakery!! So nice to meet your Mom and get to see her pretty garden and your memory plants… That was a great idea. Have fun with your families!
Wow! I truly regret not going to Europe. It is so beautiful in Germany and the UK and all of it!! Just gorgeous places and restaurants and scenery. I love your videos. Thank you for taking us along again. :)

I love your travels, wherever you visit...but watching you two being so loving, patient and kind to your parents...touches my heart and silently shows you are "quality people"! Enjoy your visits and cant wait to see what you share in your travels. BE SURE AND BUY SOME TEATIME TREASURES FROM GERMANY!

I'm so happy for you . Thanks for sharing ! And NO RAIN !!!
Have a wonderful visit with your families and be safe.
Lovely video! So happy you got to go home! Had no idea how one got across to France! Enjoyed the bakery. Where I live in Indiana, USA was settled by Germans. Yes we eat "wurst" and "mustards"! Love it!
I wish I was right there with you guys! Such a beautiful country and your Mom is just lovely! Say hello to her for me from your friend in America!
I feel your joy in my heart ! Thank you for sharing your beautiful life 🤴💐👸
That was a super video. The pastries were incredible... I headed straight into my kitchen to bake an almond and blueberry tart! We have taken the train from London to Paris when home in England and enjoyed it so. Have fun on the rest of your holiday.
I really enjoyed the video. I visited Germany in 1989 with a German friend beautiful country. How wonderful you can be with your mom and family. You are a lovely couple. Best wishes from Orlando, Fl
So happy for you. We lived in Germany for 10 years. My husbands family are from Berlin. I envy you, have a safe journey and a wonderful time. x
Oh how nice that you are with your families. I hope you have a wonderful time.
This is so special that your mother is now caring for your plants! As a gardener who lives next to her parents I love this. We share plants back and forth all of the time and when we run out of room we have a rental house across the street and the gardens spill over there! Have fun and I look forward to the next video, cheers!
Thanks so much!
How lucky is that! 🌺😊
You two are a TONIC
You two are the only sane thing going on in the world today. Love all your videos! It was so pleasant seeing Germany through your eyes.🌸
So glad you were able to go see your family in Germany! Thank you for sharing this beautiful video with us! Greetings from Iowa! Love your videos! ❤️
All the sweets and breads in the bakery were to die for! I can see why you would miss that. The train sequence was great to see again too, very interesting . Your mom definitely has a green thumb. Can't wait to see more esp. Black Forest
I am so hungry now 🤭 Thank you for this tour, I have never seen such trains before! Danke und viel Spass! ❤️
The trip looks wonderful! Enjoy being in Germany.
Was that a ‘Rose of Sharon’ bush by the back gate? Gorgeous plant. Your Mom enjoys her garden.
I'm not sure but here we call it hibiscus?
@@KirstenJoerg Then it’s a hibiscus. Thank you for responding.
I really love your videos. Have fun!
So glad you both got to finally visit your family in Germany. Gives all of us hope. We have our first Grand Child to meet hopefully next year as our Daughter lives in the UK. Always lovely to see your beautiful homeland.xx
It definitely looks like Germany is the place to be! I cannot believe how sweet you both are.
So happy for your visit back home nice to see your Mother, enjoyed your blog thanks.💕🇨🇦
This is the first time I have seen any inter-Euro travel like this so I found it very fascinating! I have always been intrigued that you can pass through several countries in one day! It takes at least 5 days to get across the US by car, longer by rail! The country side looks like our east coast. This was great! Thanks for sharing❣️
Considering the size of the USA, compared to many European counties. It's not surprising. And going across the USA by rail is not longer than 5 days.
@@Mr.SLovesTheSacredHeartofJesus Correct, the size of the USA is why it takes so long to drive coast to coast, hence the intrigue of being able to travel through multiple countries in a short amount of time because they are smaller. Apologies, I stand corrected, non-stop US coast to coast train service can be accomplished in 4 days.
I'm watching this in 2024, in the States. I LOVED the voyage on the Chunnel; thank you for taking us along!
I am enjoying your videos so much! You seem like such good friends to each other!
And, your English is astounding, so natural, fluent, and clear!
Bitte schoen! Thank you!
Vielen Dank!
I don't mind watching again!!...Have a nice trip and enjoy!!
Awwww you mom is so sweet Kirsten 💐
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. So enjoy you both.

Loved this! Thanks for taking us along & giving us a glimpse of your homeland, Germany! The tunnel train was amazing as were the Bakery (yum!) and seeing your mom! Can't wait to see more!
Thank you for sharing your trip to Germany 😊! I miss worst with mustard. Love seeing all the shops and finds.
Safe travels back to the UK.
Dear Lovelies, your channel(or to be correct, this video)have just been recommended to me via UA-cam..and am i thankful! Although i am german, i always since being 16 and set foot for the first time there, counted England/UK as my heart country. For i have been sick for a longer period now i was not able yet to go again, but i missed every way, and besides most of the times just flying over, oh i miss the train. Thank you for showing me, cannot wait to make it back the opposite way than you, thank you for the lovely little video for my pleasure and kind of homesick mind...hopefully you enjoy your time!!♡
How exciting to visit your family again. and to take the train ride.
