Couple things. To connect to hotspot if you don't have a router, then set it up as wifi direct. Also I have to two computers. Office computer is wifi 6 on 5ghz, so Canon 3270 will not recognize it, so I run a USB cable between the printer and my office computer.. From my laptop running on the 2.4 ghz, I can go wirelessly to it. From my phone I just go wireless direct through the app. Bit of a pain since I got rid of my router, but everything works.
