Indeed, honestly given the chaos that is Star Fleet bureaucracy and organization, a space ship that's innocently transporting patients accidentally looking sinister is PAR for the course. This is the same organization that thought studying Mintakans behind a DUCK BLIND was a good idea after all.

@@TOK150 And it feels like Star Trek. Like, sure it's played for humor and has cursing thrown around here and there, but I fits into the universe we know so well. The light tone and general optimism, alongside very Star Trek episode premises and moral lessons makes it much more like the TOS/TNG era shows than anything that's come since 2004. Plus, the writing respects the old shows despite parodying them, and the humor is generally clever, playing off of obscure references and in-universe tropes rather than relying on shock value or pop culture.
Honestly, this show is the singular little spark of hope that makes me think Trek can still pull out of this era of action schlock.

Some context/explanation for those less familiar with ST-lore, &/or the younger ST-nerds... *;)*
    1. (0:12) *_'Division 14 Medical Specialist'_** ~* The D-14 Medical Specialist is *_NOT_* one of the *'Undine'* (aka _'Species 8472',_ from ST:Voyager)...
    - a.) The D-14 Medical Specialist is an *Edosian,* a Federation member-race with triple limbs, 3x arms & 3x legs on a (mostly) upright humanoid frame.
    - b.) The *Undine* have (by default) 2x arms & 3x legs on a (mostly) centaur-like frame. As a counter-balance point, the Undine do also have the power of _Shapeshifting,_ though it takes focused concentration and effort on the Undine's part to shapeshift, unlike how fluidly and easily as the Dominion Founders of ST:DS9 can shapeshift.
    - c.) Edosians were depicted in ST: the Animated Series, via Lieutenant Arex, voiced by James Doohan.
    2. (1:54) *_"Annnd...Anthony!"_** ~* For all those that keep saying/thinking it is Tom Paris from *[ST: Voyager 2x15; "Threshold"]...*
    - a.) There have been many attempts/experiments/projects to try to (safely) break the Warp 10 (Transwarp) Threshold, across both for _'Alpha'_ and _'Beta'_ ST-lore, stretching back to the TOS-era and TOS-films (see: the USS Excelsior).
    - b.) So it is more likely that 'Anthony' is simply one of many who tried to exceed the Warp 10 Threshold, without sufficient shielding/protection against its mutative effects. *:)*
    3. *_Hope yet for ST:LD...?_** ~* This kind of content is how ST:LD may yet be saved and better established, by _INTEGRATING_ and weaving the ST-lore and -nerdisms to the fabric of the show; as opposed to yelling it out &/or throwing it into the faces to the audience. Just because ST:LD is _'legally'_ allowed to directly and openly reference everything in the overall ST-series, it does not necessarily help establish its legitimacy among the ST-series. If anything, the yell-outs & throw-outs wind up feeling too much like _'Fourth Wall Breaks',_ which hurt ST:LD for both its intended comedy and ST-legitimacy.
Thanks for uploading this, *Lower Decks.* :)

This show is like Wrath of Khan, i.e. just make Star Trek out to be a complete fraud; like making Kirk into Gilderoy Lockart, saying he cheated on his Starfleet test and never "faced death".
Because Nick Meyer had NEVER WATCHED A SINGLE TOS EPISODE.

    • @jordanreed3675

He did though and the only thing he changed on the kobioshi maru was that he made the Klingon commander respect him like how Kirk thought he would be respected by the Klingons that was about it it’s not like what happened in the 2009 film where he just hacked into the sims to make it so he won.

@@mrfivegold I'm with you for Discovery and episodes 6-10 of Picard, but this one is actually both really fun and pretty Trekky to me.
So spoilers - the Farm is real.
Further, there's a detail they don't tell you, but you have to work out which shows that the showrunners care- everyone has the new uniforms except for the old guy, who has a First Contact uniform. Since Nemesis took place in 2379 (which has the First contact uniforms) and Lower Decks in 2380, it means that the scary ship has been picking up passengers for, at best, a couple months.
Which means the old guy is bullshitting, at best.
Attention to detail! I figured they were being overly dramatic to start with.

    • @mrfivegold

wkcia look this whole series is merging styles that weren’t meant to go together. This show is literally everything people ever hated about PC culture in nerd entertainment. All they did was copy a obnoxious art style and threw in forth wall satire. It’s still a bad show.

    • @bermanmo6237
      @bermanmo6237 4 роки тому +6

Well, better than Discovery. At least Lower Decks seemed more canon given its reference to other star trek shows even the not so well known and obscured Star Trek Animated Series which most people even some star trek fans like me completely forgot that it existed.
