    Wow am I only one who think the fence is extremely low and impractical?

      @pelehound 3 роки тому +7

      Yup. Bewildering. Beautiful vid and court, for sure. But, there is a reason, obviously, why tennis court fences are 10 ft high. And even at that height, balls find a way to go ever them.

      @perfer_et_obdura 2 роки тому +2

      You would lose balls on every, single point, surely? Mind boggling.

      I think the height isn’t that much of an issue. It’s not standard, and if you’re not very experienced, itll probably be difficult to keep all the balls.
      However, players with decent control typically don’t misfire to the sides.
      I recently played doubles with some teammates and even when we weren’t playing seriously and we’d continue the rally from out of bounds, the balls really never touched the area of the fence and all of them would accumulate behind the baseline.

    Hey Damian, awesome looking court! We're currently looking to build a court on our property and I wanted to get your feed back on the dimensions. Do you know your spacing around the court? Now that you've had it for a few years, how often has the tight barriers been an annoyance?

      @DamianCandetti  3 місяці тому

      I would definitely go for the maximum run off for the sides. I think 1.5m each side from memory. ours is great for singles and tight for doubles as it can be a bit tight on the fence side

      Depends on where you are, you will just need to call around different artificial grass mobs and ask

    We got a quote of 200000$ to have a gravel+plastic surface tennis court...,. under 20000? Unbelievable!

    I hope the spot behind the fence - I think it went downhill- is easy for you to access because the amount of balls you'll be losing over that fence will be staggering

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  2 роки тому +2

      yes it is, I figgured I would rather pay hundreds of dollars for tennis balls then spend thousands on a fence and block the view

    • @Kojimalosophy
      @Kojimalosophy 2 роки тому +4

      @@DamianCandetti you could always do netting, it doesn't quite block The view and can be installed over a tense cord/rope that is attached to 2 pole on both ends of the that white fence

    I am building an identical tennis court now. Two inches road base + 1 inch DG + turf installation cost $27K. I bought the turf and infill sand separately. I have a question regarding your subsurface. The compacted gravel is rock hard when dry. But when it's wet it becomes really soft. You can easily pork a finger into it. Stepping on it when wet will dent and damage the court. What do you think of using costly gravel binder agent or cement mix to fix the problem?

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  Рік тому

      if you use a plate compacter or roller you should not be able to stick a finger through at all wet or dry.
      Did you use dolimite for the base?
      Keep in mind the courts are normally not perforated so there should be no water going through once installed.

    • @yemingsang
      @yemingsang Рік тому

      @@DamianCandetti I guess they just used regular DG without any bonding additive. I better not walk on the turf when wet.
