This is the most beautiful song in our winter concert by far (not at all influenced by the fact that I play French horn and adore the French horn melody)
Playing this for District 13 honor band 2023 and of our pieces this was a favorite by far. I love the contrast of the piece with the slow paced beautiful melody to the flowing action melody and back and forth. Such a fun piece with beautiful rhythms. Have always loved Standridge's work and this is another great piece.
@@amanthatlikesfromsoftware Funny story, so we just got this piece today. We listened to it once, and one of our freshmen was on bells and he absolutely nailed the beginning first try and everyone was very impressed to say the least. Keep in mind, this is our higher level band class so it's mostly upperclassmen and the music is more difficult Btw I'm a junior and I got freaking sleigh bells and wind chimes
We’re playing this along with the original composition of Sleigh Ride for our winter concert this year, both are amazing pieces! Coming from a clarinet player, I’m glad to see we finally have a solo lol.
Thought I'd give an update: just had my concert and...I did so much better than I thought I would. First solo, I played maybe a mezzo forte, definitely not loud enough, but I kinda fumbled the scale in the middle of it yet completely recovered. Second solo, I was in tune, which I suck at doing all the time, but it actually sounded good. Third solo was the best in my opinion, I played it as loud as I could and I played every note correct. I don't know if this seems bad or not, but for me, it was a huge improvement for a three week winter concert cycle. I was very nervous to play my solos every day, but on the day of the concert I just took a deep breath, and that was the most fun I had playing the solo.
My bad is playing this in our winter concert this December. I'm supposed to be playing the piccolo part. I've only been playing it (the picc) since this past April. This isn't going to end well 😭
One of the few trombone 3 parts written like a true bass trombone part. That means I’m required to love this piece as a bass bone player. But the piece is fantastic for all the other reasons people have said as well lol
This piece is so fun to play! We are doing it for our Christmas concert. I think one reason our director picked it was because it was you that posted this. Our whole band flipped when we heard he found it here because we had so much fun playing the piece "Not Alone" you wrote.
Off topic, but I came across your 2 Lasik videos recently while researching. I was curious how everything went? I have Lasik coming up, and I’m nervous. All the horror stories.

The horn melody is such an absolute joy to play on this one, can’t wait to play it in concert 🤞
I play French horn as well and I'm soloing the first part
Twinnnn
My friend plays French horn on this song, and it looked like a blast when he played.
Beautiful composition between slow, fast and solo lines. Nice rhythm punctuation and not over powering. Very lyrical also in all sections.
I'll be sure to pass along the compliment. JaRod is an exceptional composer and we are so happy to have him onbaord.
Tonight we suffer as flutes 💔✌️
