- Hi guys! So someone requested for me to do a cloud tutorial, so I made a version of a night sky with clouds. This took me a while to figure out the technique. I've done around 8 tries or so, but I'm quite happy with the outcome, and hopefully this technique will be useful for your own cloud paintings as well. TOOLS:
Brushes: Raphael softaqua Flat brush size18, Holbein Black Resable size 6, Giorgione synthetic brush size 2
WC: DS and Holbein,
Gouache: WN gouache, Himi gouache, Dr Ph Martin Bleed Proof White
Paper: Arches fine grain 300gsm // don't go lower than 300gsm as painting requires a lot of water

Art is a teraphy . I was very nervous yesterday. I wasnt paint anything for three days. And i was feel so bad and i painted what i want and this is WONDERFUL. I FEEL GOOD

This is amazing and going in to darken the sky after you have painted the moon is a honed artist's move, so confident, I would be so afraid of ruining it that I'd never do it😂👍
Hahaha I don't know.. I tend to do that a lot, more because I usually have the tendency to overwork my paintings xD

This is so beautiful. Sooo much harder than I thought. I don’t know how to make things as smoothly blended I think I needed more of a rounded brush than one with a point. And better paper for sure. Mine dried in seconds. But it was so fun and I can’t wait to try again! Thank you!

Lovely painting! I love seeing the full process like this - I would never have thought it could turn out this awesome if you'd just shown me the very first layer. I'm still learning to think in layers and multiple steps, and not judge my work prematurely. Honestly, usually when I'm unhappy with something it's mostly because I'm not actually done yet and need to figure the next layer... I think this video showcases that really well, how just a few more layers can take a painting from quite basic to stunning.
Ah yes! A lot of times I've seem works that ppl are unhappy with, but in reality it's just unfinished, and needs a bit more layers! Don't give up and keep working on it. It also helps to step back a bit when you're feeling a bit stuck. Best of luck for your paintings!

How do u know where to add color and where to smooth? Do you imagine the sky or do u look at a picture? I try to understand. The magic on paint is understand when to stop add things on it. i love watch the changes from beginning til the end.
