No other superhero film has touched this movie in terms of storytelling and cinematic quality. Unfortunately the fight scenes have not aged well considering what we have today but at the time this film showed everyone (normie and critic) that superhero films can go beyond being seen as campy or comic book style films that you can go and watch without taking it seriously. This film is the essential pinnacle of what superhero films aspire to be in terms of storytelling and its thanks to the performance of Heath Ledger that help everyone else in the movie to shine in their own way and is arguably the best Joker of modern day cinema.
I have to say the only person that can compare to heath’s portrayal of a villain is Willam Dafoe as green goblin in no way home. His acting was amazing and he portrayed the character perfectly
Anytime the Joker came up in the comics to cause trouble for Gotham, comic sales went up. Over the years, no one villain has given Batman more headaches or challenges or moral dilemmas or caused him more pain personally. He is Batman's ultimate nemesis and when the stories are compelling, they are iconic. The film is just one version of an iconic Joker, made better by solid writing and characterization and damn good acting by Heath ledger who won an Oscar posthumously. Two Face is also one of my favorite villains, because he still has a side of him that's able to rationalize but his psyche has been split between reasonable and homicidal, so he can't decide a lot on his own: he needs the coin to decide for him. By his rationale, it's fair, but to the rest of the world and Batman it's imbalanced, just like Harvey. Harvey for Batman represents his greatest failure, one of his good friends as Bruce Wayne, a lawyer and DA fighting the good fight for Gotham until he was disfigured and driven insane. Most of the villains in Batman stories are - to a certain degree - people we identify with because we see the shady part of ourselves within them, and sometimes if faced with the same choices, would we do the right thing in every situation, or would we fall into the endless abyss like they did? It's what makes a lot of the villains of the DC Comics so compelling: in some ways, they are us and we are them.....well except for al the bloodletting, killing, maiming, property destruction, death, etc lol
Heath ledgers performance is so damn good as well as everyone else they stepped it up I love Micheal Kane as Alfred in these he’s great & the Alfred in the show Gotham is great too
Heath licked his lips in between filming to help keep his face paint stick, when the director saw this he told him to just do it in scenes because they didn't want to keep having to reapply face paint every time it's start coming off. Also it added to his weird characteristics. As for his speeches, a lot of Joker scenes were improvised by Heath, including the: Applause Joker gives to Jim after becoming Commissioner, The hospital explosion was delayed so Heath played with the remote, and Jokers encounter with Rachel where the actress was unaware he was going to grab her. Heath did a whole lot and really deserved his Oscar. This is considerably the best Superhero movie of all time👍 thanks for reading if you did😁

The party scene with joker Alfred was originally supposed to have a couple lines when he came in but he was so taken back by Heath's entrance that he forgot his lines, also when joker gave the scar speech to rachel, it was her first time seeing him in makeup and she said she was genuinely scared and you can see it in her performance.

I dont know if you guys will read tgis after so long but Fun fact: the reason why joker keeps liking his lips was not actually in the script. It was because the mask kept getting loose everytime he filmed a scene and moved around. So he keeps licking his lips to make it not fall of. And it just fits the character so good it just give it something extra

I was never a big fan of Bale's performance, but this movie is something to appreciate. It was basically a well written crime drama.
