This movie felt like the joker coming out of a comic book and being born in the filthy and beautiful world of reality. I understand why a comic book fan probably wouldn't like this movie as much as a casual movie fan or casual comic book fan. It's such a unbelievable performance by Phoenix
I’m a huge comic fan and this is one of my favorite versions because it took influence from the killing joke while making it feel believable and realistic like ledger
I was a hardcore comic fan up until woke trash and uninspired writing started, I loved this film, not just because of Phoenix but because its a different yet familiar take on the joker, he has evolved in the comics multiple times and there are more than a dozen different incarnations, thats what is intriguing about the joker a a character, he can be insane or he can even be terrifying more so than even horror icons. I will say this, I did not like Leto as the joker in suicide squad, everything about it was cringe and ridiculous (not in a good way). I did however like his cameo at the end of the snyder cut, not perfect by any means but it wasn't cringe. The intensity and tension he created getting at batman is probably the best interaction involving the characters in the films.
Lol you realize that talk show moment when he's in the crowd wasn't real right? He's day dreaming and imagining a moment like that while him and his mom are watching the television show.
Yes ! That’s my guy ! He’ll be doing reactions with me more often our next is Train To Busan🔥 we both never seen it! And this movie was crazy ! Felt so bad for Joker AND THANKS FOR JOINING MEMBERSHIP BRO🤍🙏🏼
And gladiator. You hate him the second you see him. Remember the "am i not mercyfull?" Scene when he confronts his sister about her plot? That was improvised and you can see the shock in her eyes.
Joker killed the second Robin, Jason Todd. People hated him so much that DC had a telephone poll, where the readers got to decide whether Jason should survive or not in the next issue, and even though he lost by only a slim majority, that still speaks to his extreme unpopularity.
And other great movies of Joaquin ... Walk the Line, Signs (one of my other absolute faves!), The Village, You Were Never Really Here, Gladiator. So I'd love to see your reactions to all the ones I just said. 👍☺ Would be awesome! Joaquin is freaking awesome! ❤
@@mrflickswatches Sweet! I subscribed, so I'll get the notification right? And what about Signs? Or You Were Never Really Here (which is a bit of a precursor to him doing Joker).
He basically went 3 months with only eating an apple a day and some lettuce and water, thats how he lost all of that and lockrd himself in his appartment/hotel room with no interaction to prepare for the role. He actually scared the directors and other actors a lot of times😂
third person running away, our brain say.. "Ples dude run fast", but on shot scene to third had shot.. On third to fourth time, our brain say "nice you down"... On that feel, we had "joker' inside us.. Beware
Oh my dears, you're reaction seems like it was exactly like mine the first time I saw it. I tho cried throughout, off & on. It was such an epic, absolutely phenomenal movie. Taking a comic book character and making him real and feel empathy and love and caring for him was so amazing. It took me awhile and watching it a few more times, to let it all sink in and wrap my head around it all. I absolutely loved it!!!! 😍❤👍💛👏👏👏👏👏 Joaquin winning the Oscar was SO well deserved! His performance and the music and directing and cinematography and lighting was just all spot on and sent chills down my spine and goosebumps on my skin, even when I just saw the trailers of this. I think it touches so many of us, as you said too, bcs there are these issues and problems going on in our world & societies, esp where mental illness or poverty or even bullying etc... Gets swept under the rug and not dealt with properly and there's never enough funding from Govts to help those who most need it. So we end up with all these mass shootings going on and homelessness is rampant in the mentally ill community. It's a disgrace and I'm so thankful this movie was made to put a spotlight on it, using Joker. Cuz it reached millions more then if it was just a movie about a man with mental illness. Of course he suffered from many issues, childhood PTSD, his laughing disorder, he naturally would be narcissistic (since his Mother was, and he had all his grandiose delusions). So basically he started out a good person, but his childhood and society turned him into a serial killer who finally felt like he mattered and had numbed his truest nature of goodness. It's a heart breaking yet truly beautiful movie to watch. Even the ending, you were like me, almost feeling bad for smiling and cheering on the chaos ... Yet I don't think any of us should feel bad. Cuz I think so many of us kinda related. Maybe some moreso. Even tho we don't condone violence.. It just seems like redemption for him. And it does make you smile. ☺ Peace and wellness to you sweet fellas. Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed it and hope you read this. 🤗 Edit add-on: I agree about everyone has some craziness, we do but most can control and handle the madness, for some i think it's too much and they tip over the cliff of craziness to madness... Then you have serial killers, mass shooters, etc... They can't handle the craziness and want to end it all. So they hurt others bcs they hurt, and then they get caught and consequences. It doesn't make what they do ok, never, but this movie so eloquently shows perhaps the process of creating a madman. Taking a tiny soul, child and putting them in a violent, neglectful childhood then sending them into a cruel world where they are bullied and perhaps can't cope or associate. It's really a dreadful synopsis of events that lead people to these deeds and actions. I, along with millions, was cheering Arthur on! Would I cheer on a mass shooter or serial killer in real life... Prob not. But this movie just helped us understand those who suffer, truly suffer with conditions out of their control and have empathy and yes, give a cheer when they get a bit of redemption. Ok.. I'm off my soapbox lol 😄 Truly a masterpiece, epic. And Joaquins performance was phenomenal. Cuz it was SO physically demanding yet he barely ate to get so skinny for this role. And also the emotional toll it must have took for him to master this character with all its many layers. Absolutely the best performance I've seen.... Ever! ❤
That movie feels more like a movie about a dude who had no sense or knows bouderies. To the point you sometimes want to put hands on him cuz he’s annoying which is the point of the movie. And the actor does it well in night crawler. This Joker movie fucks with you in more ways. You don’t know how to feel throughout the movie and it puts you through a meat grinder of emotions. I left the movie theater wanting to hug and give money to the homeless muthufickas here in LA and there literally are millions out in the street. Night crawler made me not want to turn on the news. Good movie but this Joker shit was on another level and was on my mind for weeks. And I had to take a long hot shower when I got to the pad
@@tonysoto8949 Honestly for me Nightcrawler impacted more, maybe because I watched it first. Also I have a ton of respect for the movie for such small budget they had compared to other big movies like Joker, I rarely watch indie movies, so this one really grabbed me.
Bro if you like that movie you have to watch The Master. It's a PTA film. This might be the best acting ever along with Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood.
it was one of my all time favourite movie going experiences, i think i was watching it differently than the few friends I was there watching it with. Im more of an anti-social loner than my friends and I was watching it way more cathartically, withb a big grin and welled up eyes for the last quarter of the film, was the only one in the cinema that burst out laughing at Murray getting shot too
Going to be very honest with you; I refuse to see this movie opening night because a week before or so they mentioned the Colorado shootings that took place at the movie theaters there and I got so scared. I ended up seeing the movie a week after but I could not keep still becuase I was always looking around making sure nobody was behind me. The actual movie had me laughing at parts I shouldn't have been laughing at but that just because of how uncomfortable I felt and the acting was on point. I did enjoy this movie but I have not watch it since I saw it in theaters
@@mrflickswatches *just to correct myself the Colorado movie theaters shootings were in 2012 and the joker came out in 2019. I think the news brought it up when The Joker came out, therefore I was hesitant to see it opening night

And I loved how phoenix’s outfit was ripped straight out of the 70s-80s comics which fits the time period of the movie

An intense performance for a lackluster film.

I actually did not no! Thanks for telling me
That first scene when he was in the crowd at Murray's show was a delusion in his head
Joaquin Phoenix only ate one apple a day for the whole summer.

Did you not catch that the scene of Arthur and Robert DeNiro hugging was a delusion? Never happened.
You should see Joaquin Phoenix in:
"Her"
"You Were Never Really Here"
"The Master"
"Walk the Line"
"Inherent Vice"

Wow thx for this information. But actually i love how it turned out with jason todd. Red hood is one of my favorite comics.
Your girlfriend be looking a little different this Video. Lol. Good reaction as usual.
🤣🤣
The scene where he is imagining he is at the Murray show in the beginning kills me. He just wanted someone to care
He was in the Gladiator with Russel Crowe, you should review that movie.
If you want to check out another Joaquin Phoenix movie my favorite is Walk the Line, some others are Gladiator, Her, and the Master.
Gladiator is on schedule to watch ! 💪🏽
@@mrflickswatches Gladiator is amazing!!!!!!
The guy who says "fuck Thomas Wayne" on t.v in the clown make up (roughly 19 minutes in)is one of the guys who beat him up at the start.

What I like about Batman and the Joker , from the series of the 60s to this film, is that we learn are more about our time than about them.
