This is one of those songs from the 90's that it seems no one could ever do justice. Well you guys absolutely nailed it. Gave me goosebumps. Great job.
@@tmlafrance "Joey" is the ninth track from American alternative rock band Concrete Blonde's third studio album, Bloodletting (1990). The song was released in 1990 and was written and sung by the band's frontwoman, Johnette Napolitano. -Wikipedia
Not all time for me, but i remember these songs. Other female rock singers from the same period that i've never forgotten are Alannah Myles, Lee Aaron, Headpins darby something,
I'll be honest, with the like 25 or so seconds of credits before the performance began, I was ready to skip to the next UA-cam, but your/her voice kept me, because for what it's worth, while I think I'd heard this song on the radio or elsewhere before in passing, heard the name Concrete Blonde, but it wasn't until one night I was driving around and randomly caught on what was likely some indie channel on terrestrial radio (because where else do you hear anything that isn't TaySwift/21 Pilots these days I guess)/raised the volume to hear Johnette Napolitano singing "Joey, I'm not angry any more" with the power of those vocals-- then Googled the rest of the lyrics, learned of her relationship to Wall of Voodoo guitarist Marc Moreland-- did I understand the conviction/pain behind that singing... and your voice kinda brought me back to that feeling, to tears, far more than many of the other covers I've heard on here. Bravo.
Maybe I scroll too much... i feel like if I scroll down far enough some doubtful or negative commentary will focus on how similar your vocals in particular are to the original, like being accused of plagiarism. It's a hauntingly similar level of talent, that is for sure. Great rendition! Not often someone makes you think it is possibly the original studio version
Today was one of those nostalgia days, I've probably listened to five different renditions of Joey today. Those of us who lived through the innovation that was going on in music in the early 90's didn't know at the time how good we had it. Glad to see that the music that was coming out after the stadium metal formula was broken is appreciated and gaining new audiences.
Fantastic job by ALL !!! Special mention to the guitarist for cleaning that solo up....It needed that...You tweaked it for the better and the tone was also an enormous improvement !
My hat is off to anyone who tackles this song! One evidences sentiment and understanding of the human experience; else one would not choose this material! Thanks!!
There is not a better cover of this song anywhere on UA-cam, full stop. Kaitlyn can sing like crazy, but Sam! holy crap, Goosebumps. Just unbelievable.
Still listening 9 months later my 4 year old son thinks the lady with the pink hair is the coolest person in the world and wants to play 🎸 now ..thank you again 🙏
To the whole team: Big Johnette fan here - head to toe, she's my girl - and you guys did her proud! Thank You to the whole team: Better than a "cover", very very DAMN GOOD!
For once…and I’ve never said this before. I’ve listened to Concrete Blonde since they dropped this bomb and today in September 24 I have finally heard someone d this song justice. That was incredible Kaitlyn
Some musicians do justice for the music they cover. Then there are those few whose talent surpasses the notes and chords put down by others in previous times. You folks are the few. Such beautiful talent, each of you. Continue to wow us listeners with your gifts...please!
Holy Count Chocula,... I just stumbled across this song (and have now listened to it about 7x at least) ... ASTOUNDINGLY great! I love it so so very much!!
I love it when girls sing with that raspy, harsh voice in those high parts and this song literally begs for such voice color. This is a very great and enjoyable song for that reason.
Wow. Mighty fine. I'm an old guy. Been a guitar player for 62 years. I love this song and so glad to see that some good musicians appreciate it as much as I do. Fine job, younglings ...
Wow, I wasn't sure if anyone would be able to do justice to the vocal but the first vocalist blew me away, with that slow "Brandi Carlile-esque" vibrato and tasteful voice "crack". She is outstanding!
Oh man ...how Did I happen to come across this beautiful rendition of Concrete Blondes Joey ? Both Young Ladies were awesome, and All in All the Whole Group Rocked it to 👌 Perfection..
Wow! I'm above 10 videos of researching this song ..and I got to say this one got me right away amazing voices nice feel boys on the strings to well done excellent group Digging it CHEERS FROM CANADA EH
WOW. Joey is a song with meaning to many. It is hard to re-produce with the same feeling. I know. When it came out and I saw the vid on MTV of Johnette it hit me in the face, I was joey she was singing to. It woke me up and changed my path. THIS is one of the greatest covers ever. It made me feel as I did when Johnette first did it as a video. THANK YOU
I’m assuming that the first female vocalist is from SaMaX. Just gotdamn, gurl! Her voice made me feel the same chills as the first time I heard this song so many years ago.
Omg, whoever commented that the vocals were faithful to the original was spot on! Faithful to the original but still with your own unique style. Thanks so much for sharing this cover with the world!
Wow... Wow.. what an amazing great tribute to a classic song. No doubt Concrete Blonde would be impressed by your rendition. Really well done. Look forward to hearing more of what you guys are doing. If u get a chance, try a cover of "Caroline"
Landed on this video tonight because the original Joey by Concrete Blonde is my most played song on Spotify in 2021, so happy I found this cover on UA-cam whilst browsing! Brilliant cover! You’re a fantastic vocalist 🤩❤️👏
1st off both girls are 100% insane good...the one in the checkered vest is a prodigy...I felt her voice...shook me forreal. Being a recovering alcoholic too this song hits me hard. Yall BODIED this ...congrats 👏 👏

You cannot do this song without bringing some emotion ... and they brought it.
This is one of those songs from the 90's that it seems no one could ever do justice. Well you guys absolutely nailed it. Gave me goosebumps. Great job.
It's all about the female vocalist. She has it.

Not many people on earth can do Johnette’s vocals. This is beautiful
I know I'm dating myself, but Johnette Nepalitano is one of my favorite female rock vocalists of all time... Y'all did her proud
I'm only 41 and I agree with you
Not all time for me, but i remember these songs. Other female rock singers from the same period that i've never forgotten are Alannah Myles, Lee Aaron, Headpins darby something,
I agree. And great last name but the way.

I'm impressed. Vocals amazingly faithful to the original.

How many late nights on the roads with the car sound at full volume.
Time passed so slowly that even the cigarette took time to burn. ♫♪
I’m not quite sure how I landed here, but I’m really glad I did! That was excellent!! You guys rocked it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hahahhaha me too.....nice very nice
Perhaps, however sadly doesn't hold the same emotion as the original. Which was personal.. Lets be honest, anyone can cover a song.
@@cbscbs9090 you dont know much about performing do you?
Well said. Not bad. Not bad at all. Enjoyable
I cannot cover a song.
I cannot sing a note.
I do feel!!

Perfection!!!!
Johnette Napolitano has an amazing voice and you pulled it off! Fantastic!
This is my first view of this band and I love the woman's voice with the black hair! She is so raw and emotional. What a diamond!
She does a nice cover of Johnette … 90% and that’s high praise
Dominated this song!
Some musicians do justice for the music they cover. Then there are those few whose talent surpasses the notes and chords put down by others in previous times. You folks are the few. Such beautiful talent, each of you. Continue to wow us listeners with your gifts...please!
Steve11YT < tin ear or pandering? They’re very good, but not up to the original. Put concrete blonde on again and listen.
