For the beef broth/gelatin, I pressure cooked some beef bones with a chunk of ginger, pink salt, and a stick of lemon grass, in the Instapot for 45 minutes, setting on soup/stew. For the chicken broth/gelatin, I pressure cooked some chicken feet and chicken wing tips, also with ginger, pink salt, and lemon grass. When done, I pulled out the bones/wing tips/feet and then let the broths cool down. I then put the broths in separate sealable containers, and put those in the fridge overnight. Next morning, I had gelatin, which I then drank a cup, warmed up in the microwave, in the morning, a cup again with lunch, and a cup (or a small bowl) again with dinner. I made enough to last me 5 days, for each batch of broth. The following Sunday, did it again for the following week. Great video you have, very helpful. I am in my mid 50s and have recently been confirmed with partial oblique tear of my posterior medial meniscus in my left knee. The tear may have been there for a while but my recent weeks of intense street soccer and tennis had aggravated it. It was painful, sore and felt unstable. However, after a week of rest, it felt much better and I can't wait to go back to my 3 times a week tennis games. It would be great if you can share why the knee sometimes feels good but bad after intense exercises. Since the meniscus is torn, wouldn't it be painful all the time, why and how do strengthening exercises help relieve pain in the knee. Finally, does wearing a knee brace during my tennis game help to alleviate stress on the knee. Thank you so much.
Lots of good questions! Its important to note that pain is not directly linked to structure. That would explain why a meniscus can be torn but not be consistently painful. All the best to you
You are right, I grappled with the stiffness (it doesn't bend from knee upwards) for two years and finally went for arthroscopic surgery last week. Now it feels much better.
3:49 Min. I´m confused. Normally, people are told to avoid letting the knee travel inward as it could lead to meniscal problems and instead, to make sure, it stays above the foot. Also, twisting your foot in- or outward during a lunge appears like a configuration, that is not meant to be. So why these recommendations?
That is a good question. The answer is that when you are rehabilitating function you want to perform these movements to create a robust outcome. If a person just performs perfect movements they are not resilient to normal day to day movement challenges and the nervous system is also less able to respond.
great video will start doing these exercises, i copped an injury while jumping and did the mri report and it said i have a sprained ACL and "possible inferior articular surface tear at the posterior horn of the medial meniscus" been 8 weeks now and been doing the leg raise exercises the pain has reduced significantly and i can now sort of straighten my knee. However i still experience some pain why i try to lock my knee in a straight position just wanted to know if I'll be recovered without a surgery with no long term impacts thanks

Hi Doctor. I had a lateral meniscus tear for more than 10 years. I had 2 surgery but it didn't fix the problem. The last time I injured my meniscus again was 10 years ago but refused to opt for 3rd surgery. I can walk like normal but my knee mobility is limited. There was no pain but I can't move knee as normal person when comes to intense exercise. Its not flexible when I play sports and feel stiff and some swelling when I twist my knee up to certain degrees in prompt manner . I think it's lateral meniscus radial tear. What would you recommend to really fix my problem? Much appreciated for any advice. Thanks.
Hi I hope the video was helpful to you. I recommend a good go at Physiotherapy or find a good Physical trainer to see what you get get your knee to do. More surgery is rarely helpful and you should try some well guided rehab first. We here at TPC wish you the very best with your recovery.

Mri has shown a medial meniscus flap tear with partial extrusion... I've been doing some light knee exercises with PT... and have even reached a point where there's no pain during exercises sometimes... but the other day I tried to load weight on the leg and do a slight one leg squat... felt a huge catch like a taut rubberband slid over my knee and popped... now i feel like I'm back at square one with pain during exercise PRP injection coming up tomorrow
I am in a similar boat. The bitch is to find out a balance while pushing to get it better. You mention you tried to load weight. How much weight seems to have been the key. I plan to continue to attend my yoga/Pilates classes in order I dedicate time to work on it but, somehow, in a controlled manner. If I overload I will get to square one but it won't be the first time so I will be one more time experienced in getting out of the hole or square one. Cheers! Nelson

I have a similar condition except the fact that my injury was related to soccer. My advice is to ride a bike everyday for short distance. You can do it in a gym or outside. Wish you a good luck!
Those exercises you performed may have exacerbated your injury. I wouldn’t perform those exercises again if I were you. Especially as we age, we need to very gradually change our routines or else injuries sometimes occur.

I am able to workout on it and lift heavy but I do get pain in it. I also fid if I do any rotation it can aggravate it, but seeing your video has made me question surgery.
All I would say is try the exercises if you have not already. If they help enough then cancel the surgery. If they do not help enough then consider the surgery. All the best to you.

Surgery bro. I’ve been dealing with a meniscus injury for about a year now. There’s no real way around it. I can still play football Bt I can’t go 100% like I want to. I use a copper fit and a ACE knee sleeve like brace when I play.
I understand your love for football. But you must avoid further injury to avoid further debilitation. I have similar experience in my youth. It was very hard to give up my track running and long distance runs. I’m speaking to you a a father. Please find a physical activity that is less demanding on the knee than football. There is so much more to life. And the key is to avoid further injury. Consider other sports such as hiking, swimming, scuba diving, waking, even light jogging in grassy surface for short distances. I do not recommend cycling due to male function risks imposed by the bike seat.
I feel Little pain while bending or straight my leg i got injury to knees one week ago,i can walk but not as like earlier, please help me because i was taking marathon asap.
For me, this has happened many times, soreness and what i call fat knee. Speedskater... so, this time, its been years since ive skated, many. I wasnt going nuts and 3 days later i wake up with horrible pain in the calf muscle, probably because ive not worked out like this in a long time. So, stretching helped this go away yet then after sleeping again, my knee hurts like it swelled up. The skating night was fine, again days went by before this happened so i can only think somehow i damaged it while sleeping or the muscles are pulling too hard on my knee from lack of stretching although i did stretch a few times even that night. Indian style sitting, or meditation pose hurts on the right side of my left knee, well, right where it always has when i have aggravated this knee. Ive had surgery on my right knee for a stuck knee tear. I pass most of these tests and the soreness goes away with hot tub and or massage and stretching. I have a feeling due to some very slight pops, only sometimes and not much that there may be a slight tear. Maybe ive slightly torn this a few times in my life. It tends to go away, this time its lasting awhile, but hey, im older now. Thoughts? Thank you.
Yes, you can restore the knee function but the meniscus will never heal so if you want a 100% flexibility you need to go to see a doctor and probably you will need a surgery to remove it. I had a surgery on my right knee, first the doctor sent me to make some exercises and medicine tratment but without succes, then the surgery, everything went well in 2 months i was back playing football without pain. After 2-3 years of footbal and everday things one day I felt the pain again, wnt to MRI and had the same problem to the same knee (meniscus again) now my knee is flexible but I feel a pain everytime i put pressure on the knee so I need to have another surgery to make it better again. If you dont make the surgery it will never heal by itself. This is my opinion, and my experience with the meniscus problem.
The literature says differently. They have new studies out where there was no actual benefit to having surgery versus not having surgery. They have in fact discovered that cutting away your meniscus is a bad idea but surgeons need to make money so they just keep on doing them. I use to get a Physical Therapist. Got out of it because how much medicine is a complete scam. Do a little research on the new research out as it pertains to having surgery versus not. They actually did a study where half the patients got surgery and half got a fake surgery (placebo) and what they found was zero difference in the patients at the one year and five year mark.

For me, I ate the beef marrow, and the chicken wing tips and also the chicken feet (which these are also high in collagen, if you've the palate for them). If you've not the time, there are gelatin and or collagen powders you can buy online, beef or chicken.
Good luck and a speedy recovery to ya. 🤘

Hello what can you do when you have fluid, bone on bone knee arthritis and a meniscus that is bulging out? Thank you
Control the pain, keep active and keep the leg strong plus get some professional assessment and advice. Good luck and all the best from us here at TPC
Hurts just watching these movements. “Right, let’s give it a go”
I live in LA hospitals are booked and I'm guessing I have a torn meniscus its been many weeks hardly can walk... Hope this helps thanks
Best of luck from the team here at TPC
It is possible to do that even the knee still swelling? Thank you
Great video you have, very helpful.
All the best to you
@@ThePhysioChannel Noted. Thanks for the reply.
You are right, I grappled with the stiffness (it doesn't bend from knee upwards) for two years and finally went for arthroscopic surgery last week. Now it feels much better.
My knee was locking very bad today. I just tried this and it helped
All the best from the team. We hope your knee continues to feel better.
Excellent with seeking Rx direction, similar to Mckenzie and Mulligan and also Mulligan has a successful Knee squeeze.
Thank you James
🤣🤣
great video will start doing these exercises, i copped an injury while jumping and did the mri report and it said i have a sprained ACL and "possible inferior articular surface tear at the posterior horn of the medial meniscus" been 8 weeks now and been doing the leg raise exercises the pain has reduced significantly and i can now sort of straighten my knee. However i still experience some pain why i try to lock my knee in a straight position just wanted to know if I'll be recovered without a surgery with no long term impacts
thanks
A mechanical block to full extension will need further assessment. Good luck with your recovery.
updates?
Is it okay to use a brace for some of the squatting motions or will thst defeat the purpose of the exercise?
Yes if it helps you do the exercise then it is good to use. In the future try and see if you can do the exercise without the brace.

So when should I start? My knee is very stiff and I injured it skiing one week ago, not much swelling left, but very stiff and sore.
Hi! Is this still advisable to try even I torn ACL, meniscus and lateral tear? Yeah, i know it sucks. It’s almost 2 months now and I’m still saving money for my operation. Hoping for your response. Thank you.

When should you start these exercises? Immediately, or after a few days after the injury. I just injured my knee this morning. Thanks for the advice.
After 3 days you could try them. You may need some extra time to let inflammation settle. Good luck from us here at the physio channel

How is your knee now?
Hi. How's your knee now? Did you get surgery?
I have pain in the inner lateral part of both knees for 3 weeks it is a discomfort associated with mild pain but I have stopped training with weight for fear of hurting myself I really love the Bulgarian split squat it is my favorite movement in the gym
Hi....how r u now? How long did it take to heal?
Thanks for information and advice. ;)
Our pleasure!
Mri has shown a medial meniscus flap tear with partial extrusion... I've been doing some light knee exercises with PT... and have even reached a point where there's no pain during exercises sometimes... but the other day I tried to load weight on the leg and do a slight one leg squat... felt a huge catch like a taut rubberband slid over my knee and popped... now i feel like I'm back at square one with pain during exercise
PRP injection coming up tomorrow
The team wish you the very best with your recovery. Thank you for commenting.
Cheers! Nelson

How would my knee react once I have finished my physiotherapy sessions? Would the pain come back again?
Yes when ever we try some these kind of exercise first days feel effective but next 2-3 days again pain worst.
Do you suggest immediate bed rest after miniscus tear or you suggest to do some light exercises for upper body ?thank in advance

Hi Doc,
I'm due to have a surgery on my meniscal tear and I have a cyst as well that sometimes swells on it. I'm still unsure on having the surgery and am not sure if it is something I can heal.
All the best to you.
nice!! thank you!
Thank you too!
Thanks a lot
What about if you were injured in a fall off the treadmill? Can you exercise while the knee is somewhat swollen

Surgery bro. I’ve been dealing with a meniscus injury for about a year now. There’s no real way around it. I can still play football Bt I can’t go 100% like I want to. I use a copper fit and a ACE knee sleeve like brace when I play.
@@jamaljones566 does your knee pops and Hurts
I understand your love for football. But you must avoid further injury to avoid further debilitation. I have similar experience in my youth. It was very hard to give up my track running and long distance runs. I’m speaking to you a a father. Please find a physical activity that is less demanding on the knee than football.
There is so much more to life. And the key is to avoid further injury. Consider other sports such as hiking, swimming, scuba diving, waking, even light jogging in grassy surface for short distances. I do not recommend cycling due to male function risks imposed by the bike seat.
I’ve done some of these for around 2 months from a tear that happens around a year ago. What should I do?
What if you don’t know what the tibia is

Hi brother I have tear of miniscus from 5 month I have mri give me plz good suggestion
After my MRI it was found in the medial meniscus grade 3, is there anything without surgery?
Hi
Thoughts? Thank you.
Thanks for sharing. I can relate. I will try heat, leg up, massage and stretching after exercising it. Thanks, Nelson
@@nelsonolivera8059 yea, and later on i used ice. I think now, the ice helped more, but heat was nice also yet the ice helped the swelling more.
how can i do this if i cant bend my leg 90 degrees
Is it ever too late to treat tear without surgery? Like can it heal after 5 months after the injury if I do PT?
Always worth a try, you can restore movement even if the tear does not change. Sending our best to you.
Thank you
