iPad 7th gen vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite - BATTLE of the Budget!

- After a bit of wait I finally am ready to share my iPad 7th generation vs Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite full tablet comparison! In this video I go over design aspects, speaker quality, biometrics, the tablet's respective styluses, display quality (sharpness, brightness), battery life, camera quality and performance in order to help you decide which of these budget oriented devices is right for your individual usage case!
I must say: The price point is what kills iPads for me.
In my country with just the cheapest iPad and the Pencil (including taxes) i'll get close to 550€. And that's with some reduction since i am a student. If you want to add apple care+ which is kinda useful for apple, you get to 600€. Well, you may need a case and a protection glass which would add (if u buy from amazon) at least 20 to 40 Euros (lets go on budget). That's 640€ for one device and that's nearly the amount of money i have each month for food, clothing, etc.
If we take a look at the S6 lite... It costs around 310€ for students (at least rn). Let's add some protection from 20-40 Euros and we will end at 350€.
For me: It's wayyyy more affordable and for basic student stuff such as taking notes or editing pdf files or watching lectures: It's completely fine. Of course it's not an high end tablet and if i had more money I would consider going for an iPad, but for a student like me the Samsung Tab S6 lite is the best option on budget.
Also it's kinda stupid how many people are kinda forced to go buy some Apple Products, just because everyone has it. Some students can't afford such devices and they get so many stupid comments why they would waste their money for Samsung and don't go for an iPad, but in the end it's not their choice, not their money, not their rent or food or clothing.
Edit: Thanks so much for the likes. It clearly shows that not everyone can spare the money to buy a device. Never, ever, ever buy something that you simply can't afford.
Update: I bought the Tab S6 lite and it's perfectly fine. For simple University work such as editing pdf files, writing notes, watching the lectures or even just consuming Netflix it works perfect. I don't really get any disadvantages because of the display. It doesn't lag for me, but as I said: I only use it for university stuff, watching series and reading. But I think that for students who just wanna get started with working digitally and do their usual learning stuff: It's amazing (especially if you are on budget and this device is a cheaper version).
Kurokunai yeah, same with my country to, the cheapest Ipad (2018, 32gb only Wifi) with Apple Pencil (of course you must buy it ) will cost you nearly 600 dollars with taxes, while the Tab S6 lite ( with Spen, 64gb storage and support microsd and it has Wifi+4g) will cost you nearly 500 dollars. I know everyone always said the Apple products is better, faster, more optimized app than this Tab S6 lite. But most of comments like that come from the students, who still depend on their parents, still studying in universities or colleges. Sad😑.
Kurokunai it’s worth it I’m still using my iPad Air 2 from 2014 and I. Using the iOS 14 beta and it’s still great
TN_Oxide but how many gigabytes for this 690 usd ipad mini , and will it have lte or just wifi ? 🤔
Here diff about $50 and I have brought a 3 rd party pen for about $40 which great for note taking.
Kurokunai If the iPad costs 650 dollars in your country then your government is to blame not apple. In the west if u spend 500 dollars you can get the iPad,a pencil and a keyboard. Of course the keyboard would not be from apple if you want them under 500 dollars
Just got mine in the mail today. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhcEDB3r-OJ3_X5hQzr7k1ZofTQy1ao_U The corners of the box was a little smashed but I think that’s more of the shipping’s fault. iPad was in perfect condition though. I ordered the yellow one thinking it was going to be a bright vibrant color. Instead I looks like more of a Gold color. I personally prefer the gold look. Definitely not disappointed but just a heads up to the ones expecting a brighter cream of yellow.

"cheap feeling" for SPen?! No way. It gives practical, stylish and Zen feeling.
Okay Samsung shill
Once you try apple pencil you can't go back to S Pen
I actually have the Tab S6 lite and I liked that the apple pencil is heavier and bigger than the s pen but I hate that it needs to be charged, I hate it's tip, I dislike apple already and because the s pen is a little thin and too light for me to draw over hours I just bought the EMR pen of Lamy and boom, perfect solution. All the pros of the s pen plus having it heavier
@@sowmyareddy1885 I went from a 7th gen iPad with an Apple Pencil to a Galaxy Tab Lite S6 with the s-pen. I actually much prefer the s-pen, does this make me weird? I hate the tappy sound when writing on the iPad, and the s-pen has a lot more friction to it than the Apple Pencil.
Noah, you continue to produce excellent videos in which you review your device from a deep knowledge base. You obviously enjoy your tablets, and make every endeavour to cover them fairly and accurately. I have noticed a definite desire on your part to keep any bias out of your reviews, which is pretty rare and very much appreciated here. I do not agree with everything you say, but generally I'm very satisfied with your content, and I feel your delivery is exceptional.
My few reservations about the review are not major, but could have been dealt with, a little more competently by you. Firstly, you made big deal of the display of the iPad being brighter than the Tab S6 Lite. I have both, and have not noticed one being brighter than the other, but the main point is that both displays are adequately bright for most uses even at 30-50% brightness. The brightness is not a differentiating factor, and therefore not necessary to include in such a comparison.
My second point has to do with the S-pen V Apple pencil. I think your assessments here were stricltly subjective, with quite a noticeable bias towards the Apple pencil. You obviously prefer the Apple pencil, and that is OK, but to describe the S-pen as cheap, was a bit of a cheap shot, especially for someone who professes to be giving a balanced review. The Apple pencil is white, glossy and heavy, while the S-pen is black, matt and light. That's it, as far as physical attributes go. The rest is purely a matter of personal choice. The insinuation that light means cheap is eroneous and a false assumption to make. Furthermore, I feel that to remain totally impartial, you need to give more emphasis on some factual differences between the two implements, other than the fact that one is free and the other requires an extra $100 outlay. A big deal should be made of the fact that the S-pen NEVER needs charging, while the Apple pencil needs charging just about every time you use it. More could have been said about the absolutely stupid method of charging the Apple pencil. It is a joke, and as such should be accentuated for prospective buyers. Then there is the slippery feel of the Apple pencil on the writing surface, while the softer tip of the S-pen has more "grip" on the glass.
It is good to see that on this occasion you have made reference to the Air Command suite of apps. however, you have provided only a cursory glance at a feature set that is the backbone of any S-pen enabled device. You flick from one feature to the other, basically mumbling a few words here and there, and the viewers generally have no idea what you are talking about. To give this comparison justice, you must go into the various aspects of Air Command a lot deeper, and demonstrate what each feature does, and how the prospective buyer can use it, in order for them to learn the real difference between the Apple device and the Samsung device. Skimping over this area does an injustice to your viewers.
As I wrote earlier in this comment, your comparison is one of, if not the best, I have seen. It is written with a genuine desire to stay impartial, which is rare in an industry where atmospheres are charged, and ignorance and bias thrive. Keep up your youthful enthusiasm. It is refreshingly honest and informative.
Woah I learned a lot from reading this comment. Thank you!
There’s always room for improvement on my end! Thank you for this excellent, refreshing analysis and criticism. And yes, while I do make a tremendous effort to remain impartial... bias does pop out here and there ahaha. While I do still stand by some of my statements mentioned here, your assessment is more than fair and aids viewers :D

Go for an iPad if:
- you have money
- you are a proffesional artist, an art student or an artsy person (includes drawing, animation, video editing etc)
Absolutely any tablet can do the job with surfing on web, taking notes and playing some games. Unless you are an artist or if you just have money, you dont have any reason to buy an ipad.
Ipads are really the portable Wacoms, thats why they are so wanted and so much better than the rest of the tablets.
I hate android. For a smartphone it's okay but for a tablet.. naahh
I'm looking at S7 and S7+ rn lol
@@sryld do you have procreate? No, artists will default go for iOS.
Noah I think mentioning the life expectancy of products is also a good point to make. For example the iPad will last significantly longer than the Tab S6 Lite based on Apple’s track record when it comes to supporting their products. It’ll support the latest iPad OS and more in the future while Samsung products generally only have 2-3 years of updates until Samsung completely drops support for it.
they still get security updates you know
the killer point is that ipad is gonna have ios support for years while the s6 lite is not receiving new software updates probably
doesn't matter that much since android updates don't bring that many features (and some features come via the google services anyway) and app support on android is much longer (almost all apps still support Android 6 and many still support android 5 and 4.4)
@@_Digitalguy yep
Gen 7 team💪🏼
Digitalguy yeah, but security updates are also important and give more longevity, something that’s important on a tablet. I said that because I have an iPad Air (released on 2013) and I still get security updates, so my device works great and is compatible with all apps
@@MarlonDeLaTorreyoutube1 if it gives you peace of mind, great. Personally I don't care in the slightest about security updates on an old tablet... I only care about that in my desktop devices and in my (main) smartphone. I still have an ipad mini 2 which I keep on ios 10 for compatibility with old apps (sold my ipad air and air 2) and I even bought an ipad 2 for 40 bucks to run old apps there too. I think security is a sensitive subject and some people can get in trouble very easily even on up-to-date devices by installing pirated software or sideloading apps / jailbreaking etc... Other people, me included, have never got a virus over the last 10 years even on Windows, the most targeted platform, since I know how to prevent it....
If i had to buy today, I'd go for the Samsung tab cause 32GB for a freaking ipad? No way. My phone has 64 GB and used 50GB so no way I'm gonna settle for 32GB lol.
turtle sweets there are multiple storage options, and still 32gbs is a lot. Storage is really well optimized on iOS, not mentioning iCloud which will save you a lot of gbs. I have a iPad with 128 and about 66 apps and just wasted 15gb, most of them heavy games & productive apps.

It's not about how much you spend, but how often. I'm an Android fanboy, but for tablets... Only iPadOS ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
iPad Air 2 from 2014 gets iPadOS 14 support!
Hell yea! Im a android fanboy also and think the same when it comes to tablets. Now apple released the cheaper iphone for 400 bucks and that made me think even more. 400 dollar device out performing most high end android phones kinda says it all how apple has such amazing optimized software running on all their devices. Its really a shame that android is so shattered when it comes to hardware specs that it makes it hard to optimize every device to its full potential.
@Bryan Shaw Meh, im a android fanboy but android tablets are just shit and overpriced but on the apple side i only think their ipads are amazing :) I dont think its a mess to have a ipad and a android phone.
same, android tablets are getting better but they're overpriced. even the cheaper ipad could eat them,
i don't want to spend money for tablets many times, that's why i'm looking for ipad bc it's long lasting
but for the phone, i'll just go to android
Yep when I bought my first tablet I got the tab a 10.1 and after 2 years it runs like a tractor with no oil in it lol. Looking to buy a new tablet and hands down no decision making process going for the iPad since it is more future proof
I bought the iPad because of iPadOS since its more optimized

Good Choice!
Alek wójcik yeah I think it will be a huge upgrade
Jaiden Soto Yea! It is rumoured to have A12 so that would be a significant jump. I have A10 and A12 devices, abdwhen it comes to daily usage not much of a difference, but when it comes to gaming, intensive work, video editing and software support, then A12 nails
Watching this on my Tab S6 Lite and ... quite satisfied with the S6 Lite, no problems doing my office work on the device since most of my work is relying on Microsoft Office.
I feel like the need to update on my Tab S6 Lite - the Targus keyboard that came with it is no longer usable after an update, which caused me a lot of frustration as the tablet would not connect to my wifi and keyboard. Had to factory reset the tablet. Now I'm using Logitech keyboard and mouse and every once a while the tab would suffer from disconnectivity, unlike the first 3 weeks when it was super smooth :-/
If I have to choose, I'm gonna with Samsung Tab S6 lite. Bcs it way cheaper in my country.
Also,
*I don't have to buy stylus tho.*
Actually in my country the s6 lite is actually a bit more expensive then an iPad 8th gen but then again i have to pay another 3000 for the Apple Pencil since I am going to use the iPad for drawing and digital note taking since I have A LOT of notes to take and I am kinda confused about which one to buy

How would you compare it’s performance? Is it relatively fluid and smooth? Much appreciated. I’m trying to move away from the apple iOS and try android, and have always been worried about the longevity.
I've never used apple, my old tab s is only 16 gb internal storage but you can add a micro SD card for more memory.Everytime an app is updated that uses up internal storage. I bought the s6 lite with 128 gb internal storage space just for that reason. For what I do with a tablet android is fine. Maybe not as fast as an apple but for the money good enough for me.
@@elflordsjourneys I am a uni student, so that means only pdf reading, and video calling, i don't game in an capacity on the tablet. so i badly need the stylus to take my notes. Even though, the freedom that android gives you by the price of privacy and barely any updates seems a bit bad to me. iOS is just way more polished than android, since your Samsung is running a UI layer made by Samsung that doesn’t fully fit android features. Android itself is good however just stock, your Samsung with OneUI must be bugging and failing hard, and this comes from personal experience with an S9+

Better wait for 10.8 inch iPad to be announced later this year.
Are you sure it is coming?
MD RIZWAN ANSARI Yep.
@@dipper8228 When will it launch dude?
@@NilanjanBiswas-cb2hj Maybe in september (Ming-Chi Kuo rumor)
@@giacintocaltanisetta8301 Okay buddy. Thanks a ton.
I really prefer the iPad because of the OS that works better with my other Apple devices, and the drawing apps available
For me as a person who prefers good audio quality and video quality to watch movies I go for the tab s6 lite. I want to take notes for school and does not play any games, so I do not need a better performance. By the way I am an old Samsung user and does not know how to use an Ipad.
Im hoping the iPad Air 3 for a week, because that's the one I have. 😀🤩
Overall which is best brother? .
Good video!
Really depends if you like Apple or Samsung...
This is a great comparison video, Noah thank you for such a great job. You were honest and objective and I really like that. That's exactly what I needed. I want to process photos on the tablet and so I needed one that's going to handle the job and it sounds like the iPad will do that. Your video is the one that helped me to realize that me thinking the iPad was better was actually right because I've thought that for a while. So thanks for your great video and for being objective
I want the device for casual drawing and sketching so will go with s6 lite since the pen is included and does not require battery
Do they include the keyboard too?
@@tiekay6945 no they don't
The s pen is not satisfactory according to a friend of mine so i ordered the ipad
@@aditichoudhary4535 the spen is made by wacom technology which are leading on hw for drawing. But hey, at the end its a personal decision
@@rodvarmo no no actually he faced issue with the nibs tried to order some extra nibs but wasnt able to due to the on and off lockdown in India we are facing issues with going to service centres.
Amazing as always.
I have the iPad 7 and it’s perfect for me it is powerful
I will buy the iPad 8th gen 128gb wifi only. Do you think that's good?? Thanks
I am stuck on which i should buy! Fuck ..Someone help 😑
Awesome video mate!
that selfie tho 😩❤️
YOU DID NOT LMFAOOO
I'm a Samsung fan but for tablet, I prefer iPad
Daniel ダニアル That was me until I saw the Tab S7+
same
I'm a samsung fan and i prefer macbook than ipad tab😅
Just for media consumption & educational purpose which is worth going for??
for media only i would say the samsung but for better app experience ill say the ipad wins hands down.
Costco’s about to sell this Samsung Galaxy Tab S6lite for $299 with Samsung’s book cover/case. Might have to cop it at that price 👀
Which one would be better for illustrations and stuff? like i know ios has procreate while android doesn't but the price is too much for ipad and additional charges for the stylus too. Please suggest what would be better for drawing illustrations tab s6 lite or ipad 7th gen?
I searched ... UA-cam did not recommended me ...!!
A broke digital artist like me will go for the s6 lite because it comes with the pen with pressure sensitivity but then I realized procreate is the app i freaking want and its on the ipad , but then i realized i have no fricken money for them both ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
Wait... He said this video took a minute to make, but the video is over 13 minutes long🤔
Basically *stonks*
Thought Criminal 12.5 is probably more accurate
Samsung should position a ChromeOs tablet against iPad. ChromeOs is more suitable for tablet experience in my opinion while retaining the ability to run Android Apps. Plus, ChromeOs devices are typically supported for 5 or 8 years (matching or exceeding iPadOS) compared to just 2 years in case of Android. A device like S6 Lite with ChromeOS would give more return of investment.
Any solution for 32 GB storage, its too low and don't want to spend more, please comment😅
Hey! Should I get an iPad Air 3 now? What do you think? Is it worth it?
The air 3 over the iPad 7 isn’t much of a difference. The air 3 does have a nicer display with an a12 chip instead of the a10 on the 7. The cameras are better on the air 3, but tbh who cares about tablet cameras. If you really care about a nicer display and nicer processor with longer updates due to the processor being newer, then the air 3 is totally worth it. If you just want an iPad that just works well and gets everything done fine, then the 7 will be good. I own the 7 and I have no issues what so ever. The 7 costs 330 USD and the air 3 costs 500 USD.
This is a really good video, and the video gave me full answers!🤩
But I have a question, If you were to rate the s-pen from 1 to 10, how much would you give it?😅 Because the tablet has already been ordered, and I want to know about the pen...
The iPad 10.2 looks sleek like any other iPad. The one thing I like more in this iPad is that it supports apple pencil and smart keyboard. But the matte finish back is slippery while holding the iPad in one hand. For protection and grip, I applied a black grunge skin from gadgetshieldz.
nice promotion bro ;)
Which one can be use in a long run? Want to buy for my studies n make it worth for a long time
I pad has 8000mah battery . And it gives 11 hours battery backup continously for studies
Is the iPad 7th gen still worth in 2020?
I think the design could use an upgrade
Internals are still good
I think it's worth to get Air 3 - better processor, more RAM, base storage, and laminated display, but if you absolutely don't want to spend more, buy iPad 10.2
@@shmchuck ram is same in both i.e. 3gb
@@nishajindal5403 Correct, my mistake!
Yeah lol
I am gonna buy a tablet but i cant choose tablet. Which one do i need to choose? And why? ipad 8th gen or samsung galaxy tab s6 lite.
I'm gonna buy galaxy tab s6 lite only, after watching this video

Even I have an iPad air 2 . But now I bought an Samsung s6 lite. Just Google there are so so many good wallpapers in there . But u can also download apps
I decided to buy my iPad 7th Gen two months ago thanks to your videos and I have no regrets. Thanks to my "product reaserch" I found your channel, which I think it's very informative as well as entertaining. Your reviews seem very objective and even though I can't afford to buy 95% of the devices you review here I still enjoy watching every video and learning a lot from each of them. I'm sure that your channel will keep growing and you'll meet your next milestone in no time. Thank you Noah!
