Wall Street Journal reporters Christopher Weaver, Dan Frosch and Gabe Johnson spent more than two years investigating the Indian Health Service, the federal agency that provides healthcare for Native Americans. In collaboration with FRONTLINE, they found that the agency employed a number of problem doctors, including Dr. Stanley Patrick Weber, a pedophile who - despite the suspicions of co-workers up and down the chain of command - continued treating children for more than two decades.

Never let anyone do a medical exam on your child without you being present. I pray for all victims' healing. 🙏🏽
There is no evidence he did more during that exam than put his hand on the boy's leg. However, all care providers, teachers and counselors should learn from this. Never be alone with a child if you are not related. Always make sure that there is at least one other adult present. Even then, there is good reason to never be alone with even a related child or even someone who is underage.
The problem is kids around 12-17 are parent less, they see the doctors at native clinics alone . It’s a sad fact.
Honestly I didn’t even know a kid could see a doctor alone tbh. But even being there issues happen. Nassar was abusing girls with their parents in the room. It’s wild
@@Matt-cr4vvyou can since ata version point children must learn to advocate for themselves. it's also so children can communicate sensitive issues freely without the parent being present in the room (esp for abuse)

This guy got 18 years … meanwhile his victims suffer a lifetime of real problems because of his actions. Just think how this changed the trajectory of these boys’ lives, for the worse. People like this need more harsh sentences. I am happy to hear that his pension was taken away but this should be mandatory on all sentencing for this type of crime.
He got less time than the father of 7 busted for 2 joints of mj.

My rapist went to jail for 1 1/2 year even though he abused me for 4 years, and 11 other women including family members of his came forward to say he did the same. Sex crimes will not be taken seriously until people see them as violent, life threatening crimes. Which is exactly what they are

Unless you beat the woman unconscious, it's not rape, so yeah, actual cases of rape are extremely rare.
90% of rapes are hoaxes where the woman kept coming back for more, but later rewrote the story to feel better about herself, or get some kind of material or social benefit from it (write a book or some shit)
I'm from Pine Ridge Reservation, I remember this whole tragic chapter on the Rez. Parents were talking about it amongst themselves, and I heard about it when I took my son to the hospital. Amazingly the pedophile was still there seeing kids after he was exposed. Dr Butterbtodt was one of the best Drs. to serve the people of the Rez. I had voiced my concerns to about this. He looked like he was furious. He told me " he's got to go" meaning Webber. He told me that legal authorities needed to get involved, but it was going slow. Bill Pourier is largely responsible for this. He's an alcoholic drug user, who only cared about his job at the time. You saw him say it himself. He could have done something early on, but he didn't. Let the spineless weakling carry that burden to hell with him!!!

So many people turned a blind eye to these children. It’s pathetic how people will simply keep their mouth shut. You couldn’t pay me any amount of money to simply watch and be quiet. It’s just wrong

@aliciablanchard2500 especially the nurses...the reluctantly admitted it. This was a white male doctor that was heading the Pediatrics Department at PRH.
I cried. I was never able to get justice for what happened to me at the hands of my great grandfather as a 7 year old boy. He died when I was 12. He had done what he did to me to his entire family and that family circled the wagons. Boys and girls. Daughters and sons. Grandchildren and great grandchildren. I was the first to speak on it and nothing was done by the police. I'm 47. I've been to prison and have a felony all due to alcohol. I was a good christian up until I was 7 and then I just started to spiral down from there. My grades plummeted. I started getting in trouble all the time. Started ditching school. Didn't graduate. Shoplifting and stole a car as a juvenile. Moved on to drugs to stuff the shame, the guilt and pain. Never having any closer to the trauma. I wished so much that he were still alive for so long so that I could take from him what he stole from me. To hurt him. To hurt him bad. To even want to slowly torture him to death. All of which made my spiral down even more depressing. I tried writing a letter to him. To say all the things I couldn't say to him while he was alive and I burned it, hoping it would give me some form of peace or closure. It never did. I went to prison 3 years ago and since I've been out, I've completely grabbed my life by the horns and have been sober from all things, save cigarettes, since. I've been going to church for the first time since I was 16 and have slowly found healing but these scars never go away and they never will. I got joy watching this episode of this POS and it made me feel better. I hope nobody has to ever go through what any of us went through as children. I hope that they finally come up with some way to help us get through the trauma and to let us feel that we're good still and we weren't lying and we matter. A lot of us have ended up in jails and prisons because of the wreckage that comes from sexual abuse who wouldn't have ended up there if this thing doesn't happen. These people do not deserve an opportunity to be placed in protective custody and given protection from their crimes to children. They need to be placed in general population with the other inmates and let the punishment fit the crime. I'm sorry. This not a very christian thing to say but it's the only way to stop most of the abuse from continuing.
I'm so sorry for what happened to you and that your family didn't protect you. Have you told them how you feel about that? I think the best help for you, is being honest about what you experienced and exactly how you feel. You might be concerned about hurting your family members feelings, but, they should hear now how their blindness lead to your abuse. And who knows, maybe you will give one of them the courage to speak up as well. It sounds like there are many that need to.
Congratulations on getting your life together. I have not had any of your experience, but I think what you have done to turn your life around is probably one of the most difficult journeys any person can undertake. You are a BADASS! Please don't ever forget that! When you are tempted to turn to one of your former vices (the devil is always looking for an opportunity), remember that this gift is for you. It's a gift that no one else can ever give you, only you can give it to yourself!
I hope this doesn't sound creepy, but reading your story broke my heart and I have heartfelt love for you and that little defenseless seven-year-old.
My eyes filled with tears and I felt sick to my stomach as I read your story.
You are a good writer. Perhaps that is one way to help your healing. If you can, share it with the world that way, if that would help. Maybe write that letter again and publish it this time.
I'm sorry this is so long. To be honest reading stories about abuse is so upsetting that I typically avoid them. I'm not sure why I stayed with yours, but it felt more like you were sitting on my couch and relating it.
I truly hope and pray that you're able to beat those demons. You deserve everything. Remember that, please.

Man, I’m so sorry that happened to you. I know my words are no comfort, but I hope at the very least it shows you that you are worthy, you are loved, you did not deserve what happened to you , you are more than your trauma & it wasn’t your fault. Rest assured when your day comes at least you won’t have to worry about bumping into him up there, because anyone who’d harm a child like that gets sent straight to the gates of hell. So he’s paying for what he did to you & your family & will for all of eternity. Keep your chin up friend, find a counselor or someone you can talk to. It helps more than you could ever know & helps give you the tools to view the situation correctly & frame it all in ways we naturally would have a hard time doing on our own & keep up with your church. The lord has a way of bringing joy & light into the darkest of places & he’ll always have your back & never let you down ♥️

I too struggled with multiple childhood traumas, and the culture of family and community complacency (to this day,) brought a devastation to my very core, I questioned why would anyone continue living in a world with so much evil, but live I did. I have studied many religions throughout my life from a sort of scientific view so I was already familiar with Buddhist practices and I found healing listening to Thich Nhat Hahn ( Plum Village) on UA-cam. Hope you can find full and complete peace and even great joy as you continue to navigate this life.

Anyone who abuses a child - especially sexually, should be charged with attempted murder, in my opinion. Because that’s actually what happens. The perpetrator(s) murder the person you could have been. You feel unlovable, unworthy, tainted, broken - you feel like you’re damaged goods. It warps and distorts your entire sense of sex and intimacy, and shatters every aspect of your life.
Not to mention your partners life.
Agreed, and I would just add that the “culture of cover-up and complacency” seen in all these molestation cases from the Catholic Church to the Olympics to universities has to be called out for what it is, it revictimizes those traumatized and enables these crimes to continue unabated!
And not to mention the increased suicide rate of victims of this type of assault. As somebody who works with kids, it's so heartbreaking to see this type of behavior so constantly

How is that going to happen when they purposely destroy record's, don't accurately keep record's, & the police on the reservations hold a vow of silence, along with the entire residency living there. The only way this is coming out doesn't have anything to do with the reservation or Natives living on it. The literally don't protect or help their own & don't allow other's to enter.

Exactly. We arrest predators that download and trade child p**n under the absolute fact that it "revictimizes" the children in those vids. The abuse and exploitation is able to continue. Makes absolute sense, %100. So then what about those who knowingly turned a blind eye to blatant and relentless child sxl abuse? Or the dozens of individuals, the majority of which were working in patient care, who were willingly complicit to a chronic pedophile? Doesn't THAT both victimize AND revictimize? I understand not all complicity is as direct in terms of evidence, or as easy to prove when compared to what someone has saved on their computer. Unless there's a bribe or another self fulfilling incentive invloved. But still, the sh*t ain't impossible to prove either so. To say these folks also deserve to be punished for their role would be the understatement of the century. Sad that such words even need to be said, you'd think that would've long since been morally established and a legal inevitability.
Unfortunately some people did do everything they could, but they didn't have proof. And when they went to IHS, instead of doing an actual investigation to get that proof, IHS just moved him.
IHS did not want to investigate and find proof. When you think about why they didn't want to find proof, it makes you sick to your stomach.
We need more vigilantes!
There’s such a negative stigma attached to boys who are sexually abused, especially when the perpetrator is a male. That has to stop. What they’ve experienced was NOT their fault, and they are never to blame. I pray that all of his victims (I’m sure there are many of them out there who never came forward) find peace and healing. The blame, shame, and guilt belongs to the perpetrator, not you. All of these children lacked guidance, love, stability, and support - and now they are left with a tangled web that is intertwined with trauma and pain. It’s absolutely heartbreaking!
This is so right. All we can do is make sure they have places to get better, by destigmatizing and normalizing talking about it, and fighting for victims' rights

Imagine the negative stigmas attached to boys/men that were taken advantage of by a woman. Society tells us only men can be the abusers but we get laughed at when we tell them a woman did it to us.

@@daBEAGLE1017 I know men who were abused by older woman, a babysitter... They were bragging about it. No one ever explained to them that they were raped. The assaults were frkn glorified. The boys were meant to feel proud for being assaulted. It's heartbreaking to me. One person was never told " this 2as rape" until recently.

When I worked for the IHS, Crownpoint Navajo Reservation, whenever I reported one of those horrific physicians, therapists, professional staff, they were questioned, found guilty and fired from Crownpoint. Word spreads quickly on the Reservation and my patients and others came to me with their complaints. Damn that IHS.

I’m physically sick listening to this story when I imagine myself in the those kids shoes. They were assaulted by their doctor. Then on top of it, so many adults around this situation kept quiet! How fucking scary that message must of felt for an 11-12 year old child.
Shame on the people who didn’t do anything to stop this monster!! He will get his sentence in prison!! Prayers to his victims and their families 🙏🏻
So sad. These people have been through so much and they still keep getting dumped on. Just sickening. These Native Americans should be given the very best of care. Imo they are very important for our nation and we should take care of them better.

As a Lakota this is heartbreaking. All too typical of the care we receive. Prayers for the survivors, I am a survivor too. My abuse occurred off reservation. Predictors are everywhere.
Yes predators are everywhere indeed including right at home with loved ones I am a survivor and damaged just like my brothers on the rez but I do remember the horror stories my mom told me about reservation life growing up in the upper peninsula of Michigan, "Gods country Mans sickness"

A friend of mine is a member of Lakota Nation and was abused in foster care. Natives are often accused of "making things up" simply because they look different from white people...

If they’ve molested kids at another location, they’re going to molest at their next assignment. Look at the Catholic Church as an example. Why aren't we sending qualified Native Americans (free) to medical school and to train in all variety of medical modalities with requirement to serve on Reservations for at least 5 years after training? No one should be examined by anyone medical, these days, unless the patients as a designated person to present in the room with them !
Because that would be helping natives. Reservations are to contain not help. Medical schools cost money, time and shows natives are equal. That can never ever be shown, that natives are equal. No that will never happen.
We do. My husband was the first Physician Assistant to graduate back in 1996. It's been around since 1978 and has helped many health professionals earn their degree.
It's a great scholarship program that not only covers all your expenses but gives you a healthy monthly stypend to live on. In return for receiving it you agree to work in an IHS location for the same number of years you received the scholarship. If you work in a critical needs area, like Pine Ridge, you can repay your time faster.
Anyone, of any race, can apply for an IHS loan repayment program that will pay on your loans $20,000 a year for two years of service in a critical needs hospital. I know of many doctors and nurses who have participated in the program.

It is designated that someone be in the room for an exam. Most doctors want this protection for themselves as well as the patients.
If you paid attention to the story, he took advantage of these children in his home. He was only seeing boys in the clinic because that's how he was finding the ones who would be most vulnerable. The children with terrible parents and terrible home life were the ones he was shopping for.
Facts
Nobody ever talks about the victims life being destroyed! This abuse these young boys experienced didn’t end all those years ago, it lead to the state of their lives today. For instance this particular young man, in prison and with tattoos, if he hadn’t experienced that trauma AND the systemic complacency to it, his entire life would’ve been on a different path. The abuser isn’t only culpable for the act of abuse itself, but the traumatic path it then puts these victims on!
He was so beautiful ! And so innocent ! In his picture as a young boy ! These boys need to be supported and cared about ! Just another thing here that needs attention! While we always getting into business of foreign affairs and so many of our people live like this !

The Whistleblower act needs to be properly and actively posted around every Government institution from the township all the way up to every single PD and in DC
This touched me so deeply. First because of my memories crossing the Canadian border into Montana in 1970 and seeing the wretched conditions of the Blackfoot Tribe and the blatant signs of discrimination. I still carry that memory. I hope thing are better today. Later I worked 20 yrs in criminal prosecutions and developed compassion for defendants who are themselves victims crying out for help. Putting the child first is so important.
This is unconscionable and consequences need to be handed out to those who allowed and enabled this. It reminds me of the Catholic Church coverup in response to child sexual abuse. Not addressing this at all levels is unacceptable.
That's the first thing I thought! If you have Netflix you should watch The Keepers, it's probably one of the worst stories of abuse, murder and cover up I've ever watched! The women that has come forward are super strong to go against the Vatican itself and they had them shaking in their boots and writing checks!

Unfortunately the dynamic with American Natives is so awful…. Oftentimes they’re powerless as they leaned on the democrats and took their word for it, slowly became completely dependent and oppressed by left and then abandoned me….. it seems leftists really enjoy creating perfect victims for later use like the children they tell to essentially dislike their parents, keep secrets and encourage transitions or becoming obsessed with grooming those children and plummeting their mental health.

It explains Who the people are that does this to our wee little ones, why they do this and what is going to happen to those that hurt the little ones in the afterlife. The OP is talking about the IHS director who raised concerns over this doctor’s behavior while in Montana, to which the US government responded by simply moving that evil man to another reservation instead of investigating and prosecuting like they should have. The director did what he was supposed to; it was the IHS and HHS that failed to act. How are these crocodile tears? Completely serious question. I don’t understand why you’d think he was faking his emotional response.

My mom used to be a substitute teacher at Pine Ridge and I had the honor of being able to attend school there as well for a short time. I recall hearing whispers about this but being young I didn’t understand what it meant. Seeing this breaks my heart for all of the victims of that monster.

Hmm. That’s not why most people don’t know about this. Most people don’t know about this because the mainstream media don’t find the abuse of Indigenous children important enough to headline it on the major news networks. Similarly, the government didn’t find the abuse of these children important enough to put that doctor in jail 20 years ago. All that has gone on in this country (especially since 2020) regarding people of color including indigenous people being at a disadvantage due to systemic racism and bias has taught you nothing. Wake up please. Systemic racism and bias caused this. This wouldn’t have happened in the richest counties in America for 20+ years.

Because this is a private platform so to see These investigative journalism deep dive documentaries and are the last of their kind. Super important content and raises the alarms for the greater public good actually doing a service to the general public unlike any other out here anymore. They present the facts and leave you the viewer to have your own opinions and views about it. The one about Charlottesville was incredible, and there's one about the fire that ripped through the town in California was crazy. Oh and their finest hour is 'on the presidents orders'. The president in the Philippines orders the killing to any and all drug addicts.

Like backdraft type movie but real,Crazy. I know, most youngsters ain't watching TV no more when you got have it at your fingertips, seeing this docs is great stuff. The Charlottesville one is so controversial with the platform it won't come up unless you type it in, the algorithm hides it.
Praying for these boys and the families this predator hurt. So sad a doctor would misuse his job to hurt children and cause trauma into their adulthood.
When my child was an infant a highly regarded and respected long-time pediatrician of the area was suggested to me by friends and my sons father’s family; He’d been the pediatrician of my child’s dad, his brothers and cousins……
I felt off, he was very…… off-putting and disinterested in my child.
A year or two later it was discovered he was targeting 12 year old boys and was charged with a SLEW of crimes such as sexual acts by an authority figure, assault, and other things I won’t type.
I remember feeling so disgusted, shocked and lucky my child was still so young so he wasn’t his target age.
He’s still in prison to this day…. Multiple victims and he only got 8 years because everyone in the area “loved” him
An a nurse who dedicated her life to serving others, makes 1 med error gets charged and sent to prison-- yet doctors who abuse children intentionally-- go years with nothing done and likely will never be justice for his victims.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say a white male doctor can get away with alot. Based on his title alone. We live in a fkd up world.

Just like every country in the world places have been conquered and sold, we bought Louisiana from the French, Florida from the Spaniards, Oregon Territory from the British and we went to war with Mexico for Texas. Most of them had already came here by the 1500's so technically it was owned by many not just Native Americans. You can't blame one group of people while we're still finding area's that the Vikings had settled here. Christopher Columbus came here looking for the West Indies by Queen Isabella from Spain, that's why the idiot called them Indian's. Just like Putin right now is trying to take Ukraine, it's a strategic location that opens up Poland and the rest of protected areas by NATO.
They have their own rules, regulations, AND LAWS.!!!! We cannot get involved with them OR you get sued by them. They DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO GET INVOLVED WITH THEIR BUSINESS.!!! So it’s very difficult to investigate them.!!

This is so hard to watch, it was so preventable. And he chose pediatrics as his specialty?!?! Monster.
I knew a pediatrician who went to prison for sexual abuse. He also volunteered for a certain organization where he was a mentor, gained access to unwanted boys in foster care, adopted some & victimized them. He caused his sons to be extremely confused sexually, one finally ran away & reported him to law enforcement.
Why do you think? Easy assess. He's a creep.
Glad this atrocity has been investigated finally, but the suffering of all the children is unforgivable.

I cried, this is all to well known to me. I was a young teenager when sexually abused/raped at a bus stop late at night and also at the hands of my cousin. no one talks about these things but they haunt a person.

I attended a boarding school for my high school years in the 1990s. Trust me, whenever a professional who works with minors exhibits any type of weird/suspect behavior, the word gets out throughout the student body, hospital, whatever it is and everyone knows to watch it when around the suspect. Soon parents and teachers, due to a kid voicing their concerns to a trusted adult know about the suspicions surrounding the suspect. There was a teacher who was also a football coach who apparently liked to pay too much attention to the boys in the shower after practices. Word obviously got to the top administration because when we came to class one day (I was in his geography class) he was gone and we were introduced to the new teacher who took the class over for the remainder of the school year. For all practical purposes he disappeared and we were given no explanation beyond "Mr. PervyFreak is no longer with the school. Mr. NewTeacher will take over for the rest of this school year." Like I said- everyone knows when someone is suspect in these situations- no one is unaware.
The adults who don't speak up are complicit in the abuse.
I complained about a teacher and principal behaving inappropriately to me in middle school and high school. Nothing was done. 10 years later bother teachers no longer worked there bc of inappropriate behavior....

Exactly. I work in a small hospital. Let me tell you, if anyone, a nurse, doctor or any other was doing something like this it would spread like wildfire. Even the slightest suspicion would be death to their career. It's probably due to the difference in a few decades and a system for mandated reporters. I can pick up a phone and make a report and get results in 24 hours.
The unfortunate thing is he was probably asked to resign and able to keep his license to teach which they use to get a job at another school in another county, state etc. The schools are known for covering up their issues, the unions don't want it getting out because it will effect the power they have and they don't want anybody doing any deep dive's into their business. They are so corrupt.

All of these people need charged. This guy was so brave because he knew these cowards would not say a thing. He had zero fear. A predator with no fear will leave victims everywhere he goes.
Especially when the predators keep getting away with the abuse, year after year, victim after victim, they feel untouchable. They cleverly & carefully select their victims, grooming family members, neighbors, the children of their partner or spouse, or organizations that give them access: school sports, scouts, altar boys & church youth groups, social services, orphanages, private schools, modeling & show business--they usually pick victims that they think no one cares about, people who are poor, &/or from broken homes, troubled kids, people that tend to go under the radar, runaways, homeless, people who won't be believed, poor white kids & poor persons of color, or are unable to accuse their abuser such developmentally delayed individuals. They might use bribery to gain favors, pretend to be the only person who understands the victim, &/or turn the victim's protector into the enemy, convincing them that their parent or guardian views them as a child & that they need to break away from them, or, they will use physical force. When the victims come from close, watchful & protective families, or more financially privileged homes where they can't be bribed with gifts, they must resort to more clever tactics, such as threaten friends, loved ones & pets with harm if they don't cooperate, or set them up so that they can black mail them into complying with their sexual desires--however, these tactics are used regardless of socio-economic class.

If you look up stats on Pine Ridge, it's absolutely mind boggling. The quality of life there is nearly equivalent to a third world country. The average male only lives to about 47 years old when the national average is about 75 years. For a man to go into a place like that and pray on the children ... Man. Only the worst should come to someone like that.
Yes, this place is hard enough to overcome and escape without having this kind of thing happening to you as well. The poverty there is really unbelievable. So many people still live there and have major issues with substance abuse. They are very isolated there and very little oppourtunities/resources. It's a sad situation. I have relatives that live there and it's a rough life compared to anywhere else in the u.s. 😢

Navajo reservation is considered the largest and wealthiest Indian reservation and pine ridge is considered the poorest place in the US but if you travel to both there's no difference our reservations are both the same just one is bigger than the other

This has been happening to Native Americans for more than 140 years. I am talking about thier abuse at the hand of Government institutions entrusted with their care and, governance.
They do it to themselves. The US government needs to get out of the reservation business. The whole idea of reservations is not healthy. 2/3rds of the adults living on the Pine Ridge reservation are alcoholics. Many of the newborns are born with fetal alcohol syndrome.
Residential schools. Orphanages, foster care. Religious run organizations. Public schools. It's ingrained in the system.
The goal was never their care, but their destruction. These institutions function as designed.

This type of sh*t happened on my reservation within the school system. Justice was served but things never got better for them. Sad to see and understand why life is hard for them.
This happens a lot more than people can imagine. And it happens everywhere. My child was a victim at the age of eleven by a fifty four year old teacher. Investigation happened and several victims were interviewed. The case was shut down by people who were worried about lawsuits. Dirty officials and others who worried about the school’s reputation because it was private. So easy for several people to turn a cheek so not to rock the boat. Truly sad and completely infuriating. The damage done to these children is enormous and so unfair. I hate these sick criminals. They are a total loss because they will not stop. They are like rabid dogs spreading disease, only difference, society is ok with destroying a rabid dog. It is amazing that people in position of authority can be criminals themselves by knowingly making efforts to hide evidence, tell untruths, and in our case threaten my husband’ life. So if this story seems far fetched to anyone, you need to be aware these crimes and cover ups happen everywhere, every economic environment, sexual predators do not discriminate. All children are fare game.
Indifference should be criminally prosecuted, stop the peds!!! So sorry for this happening! The world is sad, the community and families need to ban together and not allow evil to perpetuate.
It does not hapen everywhere. These people are not stupid they prey on the more vulnerable of society because a strong family structure will not allow this. The poor and even Christian communities who trust to easily are much more subject to these crimes. The reservations are prime targets because it is easier to get away with crimes there. Woman go missing constantly and no investigation team is sent out. Lucky if it even gets reported to the missing childs list. I’m so sorry this happened to your child. I’m sure they are getting the therapy they need, which can help them understand that something bad happened to them, but it does not define them. Too many people either can’t afford therapy or they don’t tell so they never get it. They end up on drugs or in prison because they were left feeling worthless and damaged.

When is the last time you heard about crimes against African-American or Hispanic or Asian people? You see, at least the other races are talked about.. Native Americans are not even given that for God's sake! We talk about the injustices of black people a lot, which I think is wonderful that we are having that conversation... at least we are talking.. No one is talking about what goes on in these reservations. There is barely any representation of Native Americans compared to Hispanics or Black people in the government and law enforcement anywhere really. And if you look at the statistics of crime, especially crime against women on reservations you would be completely sickened. In all honesty, my heart goes out to all of the marginalized people!!! Definitely not trying to say one is more important than the other, but how often do you ever hear this conversation about Natives? As compared to other races? I just wish we could include them in the conversation...

Native Americans have been mistreated more than any demographic. Yet they never cry, complain or play the victim. They are a proud people with deep spiritual roots, a rich history and stand to teach us all so much. This is truly a world with the “Good Guy” finishes last. It’s sad. native Americans should be celebrated, honored and uplifted. Not just for their benefit - for ours. We could learn so much from them.

February 10, 2020, Stanley Patrick Weber, age 71, was sentenced to five consecutive life sentences in federal prison for the five Aggravated Sexual Abuse charges, and 15 years on each of the three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. All of these sentences are to be served consecutively to each other, and also consecutive to his previous sentence in the District of Montana of 18 years in federal prison. Weber was also ordered to pay $800,000 in criminal fines and an $800 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
But look how long it took to bring that POS to justice!
I'm praying good old jailhouse justice makes up for it!

A lot of adults failed theses victims. They're enablers. Thankfully, there are strong people out there that pursue these predators. The victims were very brave testifying against Weber.
I was really affected emotionally by the statement of the boys, now men. Who had the paths of their lives altered by that creep predator. When Rear Admiral Weahkaw got choked up, I felt his emotional response at wanting to repair such a damaged system.
One of the poorest places in America is Pine Ridge and on earth and subject to this abuse. I got to visit once around 2010 and words can’t explain it.

Unbelievable that IHS staff were not mandatory reporters previously. I have been a teacher for over 30 years and every district employee in the state is a mandatory reporter.
The overarching lesson you'll learn if you grow up poor/vulnerable in this country: To the victims go the consequences. Impoverished people pay every penalty.
To the predators go the defense, prestige, benefit of the doubt, appeals, and mercy. The quantity of wealth & privilege corresponds to what degree predators are systematically immunized against justice.

I cannot believe how this Bob McSwain is saying, while chuckling, that just because the guy had good skills, a degree and licensed and because they "needed him" they hired him and this is the result of doing so; I was outraged!! Poor kids that had to go through all of this abuse because the system didn't care enough to identify such a terrible predator!!
From what he said there isn’t a lot of incentive for good Doctors to sign up and because of that there’s a shortage of people with any kind of medical profession and when they do get someone it’s usually someone who should be in prison. So because of that they think that they shouldn’t turn down an applicant which is not a good thing but what’s bad is they won’t have a doctor. Even to this day the IHS has a shortage of medical professionals and even funding.
It isn’t right whatsoever but the comment is sadly a reality for some of these things. As crass as it sounds getting a doctor for these reservations is incredibly difficult. You basically need to find somebody who probably has six figures of debt from medical school but is ready to make much less than they’d make somewhere else and is ready to live in a community far away from normal everyday life you’re accustomed to. That doesn’t absolve anything he did or hiring him knowing what he’s done but it’s a reality to understand that these people become so desperate to simply have a doctor they throw away all the reasonable things we look to for anybody else. And it’s a shame.
It was very telling that he said "I don't have sex with my patients" instead of "I don't molest children" or "I'm not a pedophile".
Heartbreaking! So upsetting people looking the other way! I Hope all victims including myself will be healed, I hope inmates are getting some justice!

1). I lived in Yankton SD around the time when this was going on, and I had very close friends from Pine Ridge reservation.
2). Thanks for exposing the filth and rot in the system. The Indians deserve better services.
I made three trips to Yankton , SD. About 11 years ago . I really enjoyed my time there . First time to middle North America . People were very friendly . I had a girlfriend that was an attorney in Sioux Falls and her parents lived there . The native Americans are holding out for the Black Hills . Many people claim that the original sin of the United States is slavery . I think that’s second place . The genocide of the “ Real Americans “, is the original sin . And those that continue that tradition are demons , animals that must be taxed to death !

I like Butterbrodt for being so direct and am not surprised any of this happened. I've spent time on Pine Ridge and have family that works within IHS. This abuse happens over and over.
Always be wary of people who are popular with kids or involved in kid activities but don’t have kids of their own.

Healing prayers up for those who lost their innocence as victims to sick predators. No child should be dismissed when it comes to complaints of sexual abuses.
Why wasn't another nurse present in the examination room while he was examining his only teen boys preferences. Why did everyone let him get away with it for so many years??!! They too are responsible!! No one investigated him??
That is so wrong and disgusting to allow that to happen all those years. The only ones who suffered was those innocent boys.
Probably not enough nurses for one in every exam room. The IHS pays peanuts and the reservations are largely in places no one wants to live. I remember coming up on a reservation in Arizona. You could draw a line between the beautiful productive land and the land that wasn’t because the road divided the two la day. Guess where the reservation started?
It's extremely telling that all the young men that were abused by this predator are now in prison. The poverty and socioeconomic circumstances that native americans face is disgusting.
I left the U.S. 8 years ago, and moved to peaceful and tranquil Central America. I thought I had heard and experienced all the indifference, apathy, illegality, and racism the U.S. had to offer. This video shocked me again!
