Me too! I know they're busy with just day to day stuff from life in general. However, it would be really nice if they could put out a video at least once a week.
I giggled along with you Jill when you figured out that you don’t pump your own fuel there! I live in Virginia & we pump our own fuel. Also you & Derrick have such sweet well behaved boys! ❤️
Jill you have the most beautiful blue eyes. Some spots in NYC you don't pump your own gas. The boys are so well behaved on your car trip. Have you thought of turning you vehicle into a camper van? Watch a few van conversions. You get to park in really cool campgrounds and the boys would love it. That little community in Oregon was so quaint. I love all the different little houses in all colors. Very sweet. Derrick is so sweet and thoughtful. Let me know when you see Bigfoot. Traveling mercies.
The boys are very well behaved. It’s ok, that you didn’t know about pumping your own gas. I didn’t remember until you said it…would hv done the exact same thing. You guys are so sweet and polite
The boys were such troopers with the long car ride. Looks like you all had a blast. Thank you for all who serve in the coast guard. ❤ We love our military families. Mom of an Army solider.
You may already know this but the movie “The Goonies” was filmed where you were. Might be a cute movie for the boys to watch! Thanks for sharing your trip, enjoyed watching!
So awesome that they have full service gas stations still. I live in a small town & even we haven't had a full service gas station in Years! I would have gotten out to pump myself as well. Lol Anyway I love watching your trip and so glad to see you guys had an amazing time. Something for the boys to remember forever :) can't wait to finish watching all the videos
Jill you and your sweet family all look so happy content and beautiful complexions smiles God Bless the four of yu. So enjoy your trips and daily life yu share with us. Thank u
I love you guys. It’s awesome seeing your lovely trip. Thanks for sharing. My dad just disowned me for my beliefs and it really hurts so I know how you feel Jill.
I live near Salem Oregon and grew up going to end of the Oregon trail as field trips. My mom and I enjoyed going back a few years ago. Its usually pretty quiet. There's a room to try on vintage clothing. Candle making, notebook to make. Its really amazing to think about how people traveled, died or survived the journey.
Thank you for the travel video, travel and exposure to other cultures are my favorite. It is a joy to see your children's good behavior in the restaurant.
I live on a little tiny Island on the East Coast of Canada, and our gas stations here have a similar thing. Most of them will have the option to pump your own gas (self service), and also pumps where they will fill it for you (full service). Because full service requires an attendant, it actually costs a bit more, so most people opt for the self service anyway. So if you're ever in Eastern Canada, look at the top of the pumps, and it will tell you if it is a self or full service pump you are pulling into.
I would not be embarrassed in the small things you have been brave with all the things that have went through in your family pray that everything goes well in your family just do what makes you comfortable you do you not what other think.
I am having so much fun coming along on your trip! So many cool things and so many beautiful views!! Can't wait for the rest! I saw The Haystack Beach quite a few times on Little People Big World!
Fort Clatsop is so amazing! Grew up across the river in Long Beach and it was my favorite place to take visitors. It's interactive history! Love when the employees dress in period pieces and put on historical demonstrations. Also the Bumble Bee tuna pier museum is an informative little stop. Great for kids and So fun!
Ooh interesting about the Bbq place too exotic for me haha. Glad for all the pictures and memories im sure. And video to look back on. Such a pretty scenic drive thanks for taking us along.
We live in wisconsin and they use to have “full service” gas stations that would pump your gas for you. But that was a long time ago. :). Love the videos thank you so much.
Good morning! So if you're going through Astoria and then through Washington you're going through my town!!! Longview/Kelso!! Have a great time in our beautiful PNW!! You are in my town 😆 drive safely
I feel your embarrassment with the fuel situation. I've been in Oregon most of my life and the first few times I drove out of state myself I forgot that other states pump their own fuel so I just sat in my car for 5 minutes waiting for someone to come do it for me. I felt so dumb having to ask someone show me how to pump it myself.
That's the worst thing about road trips when you are a native Oregonian! My first trip with just girls (no dad or brothers to do it) we pulled up to a gas station and we all just looked at each other...uh...we don't know how to do this...I literally watched a little old lady do it and told myself if she can do it, so can I! Hahaha
You’re so cute Jill!! Love watching these vacation videos each day. I will say, having your fuel pumped for you is a thing- I haven’t seen it in years… it’s called “full service.” I grew up in a small town on an Indian reservation in Western, NY- they had full service- actually still do at a few places. My husband and I visited recently and realized they still do this there! We were laughing about it too, brought us back 😜 love following along on the adventures with your sweet boys
It was like going back in time having someone else pump my gas when we visit Oregon. I just look at it as that is giving someone a job. Loving your travel videos.
I grew up camping every summer at Ft Stevens between Astoria and Seaside. So much history in the area, I hope you can come back someday and see more of it!
Hi Jill & Derek & kids! My husband and I did the same thing in NJ when we stopped for gas. It was winter so the person had a heavy jacket with fake fur around the neck. My husband thought the guy was going to mug him. I sat in the car & reacted like u. It was before cell phones with Google. We had no idea there were states that pumped ur gas. Now I'm originally from Vermont & there its both. In places where they pump they have signs that tell u this. They also have signs that say self pump. No confusion 🙂
You pump your own gas in North Carolina too. Back in the day, having someone pump for you was considered part of full service. They'd wash the windshield, check the oil, etc.. Gone are the days. Some gas stations picked the pumping because they had a lot of drive offs. Then they installed cameras to take a picture of your tags and your face.
Continue to have a great time on your vacation. It looks like fun. Stay safe. I didn’t know about, not pumping your own gas also . I knew the day you and Derek got married. You’d be perfect for each other. There’s so much love and your family.
Some towns still do Full-Service at the pumps. There's a gas station in my neighborhood that still does Full-Service I love it. I feel special all the time.
Two of my best friends met in Astoria... she was born and raised there, he was in the Coast Guard, and docked there for a bit. They just celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary and live in Portland.
To bad you didn't have enough time to enjoy Ft. Clatsop. It's a really interesting place "inside" but you do need time. Would have been very educational for your boys. I think they would have loved all the "frontier" experiences there. We lived in Seattle area for 12 years and love it, but like Portland it has changed for the worse. That being said I think your family would enjoy a Washington trip; the coast, Mt. Rainier. the Olympic peninsula, rainforest, Twisp ... the possibilities are endless!
Here in North Carolina there are still gas stations that offer full service but not many that do it. If you pull up to the pump that says full service they pump your gas, clean your windows and check your oil, washer fluid and antifreeze. It does cost a little extra but they don't automatically charge for tips but they do expect you to tip them.
In Western PA it used to be a bit of a mix. I had been to places where it was full service, and places where it was self service. It was surprising to see all of the full service stations in New Jersey. The full service stations have been pricier, in my experience, but you get what you pay for.
I’m from Oregon and forget that when I’m in another state I have to pump my own and sit and wait for someone. But no one comes. 😂 FYI- If you have a diesel rig you can still pump your own in Oregon.
Next trip the California Redwoods!!! Drive down Hwy 1 to San Francisco, you might enjoy a night or two in wine country see the Missions around here (Adobe Mission us cool!) and then down to Santa Barbara and down down down you go!
So weird to see you at that Korean BBQ place, it’s a half-mile from my house! But I can tell you with certainty that it’s NOT *downtown* Portland. 😂 Still Portland though! Oh and the reason you pumped your own fuel at the Love’s in Eastern Oregon is that a few years back, Oregon passed a law allowing it in counties with very low populations, basically to make it so people could still fuel up at night with a card even if the station was closed.
It misses with my head so much, watching vlogs where people are driving in US. I’m like, stop stop your on the wrong side of the road 😂😅. Yet I don’t notice it in movies.
When I first started driving there was a station that someone would pump the gas for you, It was nice in the winter but other then that I just as well do it myself
I didn't pump my gas till I moved to Florida. On Long Island, it was full service. The first time my mom visited years ago, she didn't have any idea how to do it since she always lived on long Island.
To bad you didn’t go to the Astoria Column is incredible. The view is spectacular. The Oregon Film Museum is also there In Astoria and if the Goonies house. And yes it is illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon and New Jersey and the city of Huntington New York
Ironically Seaside celebrated their 100 year as did Scappoose this summer. Bummer you didn't get to go in, because it's a great fort. If you had stayed on the Oregon side to go to Portland, you would have passed through Scappoose.
I live in Nebraska and as far as I know, there is still 1 gas station that the attendant comes out and pumps your gas, washes your windows and will check all your fluids for you. For a minute when pulling up to said gas station you feel as though you've gone back in time and it reminds me of The Andy Griffith show. Lol.

Yes nice to see the beautiful states from a Canadian view
Me too
Yes girl! 🙃
Me too! I know they're busy with just day to day stuff from life in general. However, it would be really nice if they could put out a video at least once a week.

I’m curious if she would allow her kids to watch the Goonies….nothing bad about the movie I love it!
Hello 👋 Jennifer how are you doing today
See you came through our hometown in Astoria. Hope you enjoyed Oregan ! The boys are so much fun. Blessings!
So awesome that they have full service gas stations still. I live in a small town & even we haven't had a full service gas station in Years! I would have gotten out to pump myself as well. Lol

Being from Washington State it's a treat visiting Oregon and not having to pump gas! Also, not paying sales tax.
I feel your embarrassment with the fuel situation. They do. I was amazed myself when visiting OR
Really enjoying the sights and that food looked delish :)
Love the trip I did not know that about Oregon now I do thanks.
I grew up camping every summer at Ft Stevens between Astoria and Seaside. So much history in the area, I hope you can come back someday and see more of it!
This installment is so funny! I laughed several times!!!

Hey Dillard fam long time I don't see any flog from you guys welcome back the boys are growing up so fast be safe love you all❤❤❤❤👏😁🇯🇲
I love these daily vlogs. I hope you continue doing some after you get home.
Two of my best friends met in Astoria... she was born and raised there, he was in the Coast Guard, and docked there for a bit. They just celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary and live in Portland.
I loved her "SQUIRREL" moment with the closed down Korean restaurant 😍🤣
I noticed that too! It made me laugh, it was so natural of Jill, so unrehearsed!
To bad you didn't have enough time to enjoy Ft. Clatsop. It's a really interesting place "inside" but you do need time. Would have been very educational for your boys. I think they would have loved all the "frontier" experiences there.

Agree the darn Democrat liberals are out to destroy America with the vagrants and lawlessness etc
@@guser2495 Don't forget the Rinos .... paddling desperately to try and keep up!
That "Big Foot" was actually the character "Harry" from the 80s movie " Harry & the Hendersons " 🙂

Wwow that Korean food was delicious looking. Wish I could find one around here in Arkansas.
If you ever get the change go to the four corners monument because you can stand in four states at 1 time
Yes, auto trips...remember them fondly...
You guys drove through where I live on your way to Portland. I Live in Longview, WA. 😃
Next trip the California Redwoods!!! Drive down Hwy 1 to San Francisco, you might enjoy a night or two in wine country see the Missions around here (Adobe Mission us cool!) and then down to Santa Barbara and down down down you go!

I remember family car vacations every year. Fun! Your kids are so well behaved! How old are they now?
The whole gas station thing was hilarious. I wasn’t aware that people pump their own gas 😂 saying that makes me feel spoiled 🤷🏼♀️
When I first started driving there was a station that someone would pump the gas for you, It was nice in the winter but other then that I just as well do it myself
Hello Madi how are you doing today
In nj is it for sure illegal to pump your own gas..usually the sign at the pump says full service. Also usually the gas is cheaper than in ny
I didn't pump my gas till I moved to Florida. On Long Island, it was full service. The first time my mom visited years ago, she didn't have any idea how to do it since she always lived on long Island.
When you travel around do people recognize you, just wondering ❤

That's funny. That's exactly how we do it. We can only count the state if we put our feet on the ground and see something.
We have gas stations here in Canada that are either Self-Serve (you pump your own gas) OR some stations are Full-Serve (attendant comes out and pumps gas for you)

great voodoo thanks for sharing
At certain gas stations people will pump your fuel. At a place we have in Michigan they do that! Some people give them tips for pumping for you! ❤️
Was this your last trip or is it a new one...it's nice either way...a cool towns parade...
OH MY WORD.You seriously drove by my house I live by the lake. I’m totally bummed now. I sound like a total stalker. 🤣😂🙌🏻🤷♀️
