“I thought the nobels was a tubescreamer” is the new catchphrase of guitar gear youtube
There’s a t-shirt to be made
Hahah I honestly did though!
That setup sounds great. Love the riffs, freaked out when you played that qotsa song. The ts side of the noble screamer is my favorite out of what I’ve tried, the Analogman silver mod is the only one that can compete.
@LivingroomGearDemos thank you so much for making this most excellent, very indepth analysis, and demonstration. I love how you push the circuits with your playing dynamics in the beginning! Excellent demo of the TS clipping into the OD tone!!! That is a really great example of how the hybrid combo provides an audio solution. The DAW example was out of this world cool! What a masterful sounding track you put together!!! 👏👏👏👏👏 Don't forget to run it at 18 volts if you can, it's even more better! 👂🍬
second what the boss says ! 😎
Need to try 18v as well! OD tone with TS clipping is my go-to drive for everything atm ✌🏻
Run at 18..interesting. I am obsessed with tones and combos, thanks for the tip.
Gonna set mine to 18V today!
To me this thing sounds like the only drive pedal most of us would ever need. At least you made it sound like that. Pretty cool riff!
You can get A LOT of mileage out of these two pedals separately, so assume this would be great.
I’ve even used my ODR-1 for Pink Floyd solos. The Keeley sounds a little less boomy in the low end.
That sounds amazing with the OD tone and TS clipping. Great video+tones as always
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome demo and recording lesson!!
Damn, this thing sounds great!
It is!
Keeley OD pedals are great till you get past ! o'clock on the drive setting!
This video is very well put together. I LOVE information on gear, which you most certainly provided. I cruise on zzounds, sweetwater and Thomann. Zzounds works directly with American Musical Supply also. I'm ranting! Anyway, I am constantly reading and learning. Very excellent! Subscribed and thank you!
Nice video and very cool to show your production!
Thank you very much!
I like the music production part of the video, it is inspiring 🙌
It sure as heck was!!
@@RobertKeeleyTV wow I got my daily boost 😁 great pedal sound and look wise.
Noble efforts
Eirik could you do a video on your HX Stomp patches and tricks? I'm going to buy one and I am seriously in love with your sounds in all the video you used it ❤... maybe you could you show us how to achieve a QOTSA tone with it 🤘
Very cool vid and sounds!
thank ye!
I keep trying ODs, looking and looking, boss, boutique, Klons etc…regular old Tube screamer is still the best.
Didn’t see this coming. I’m an ODR-1 faithful so definitely gonna track one down to try.
For recording, tho, the Lancaster Audio ODR Plugin is my true baby.
They both sound great. It’s too bad there wasn’t a way to switch both on or off. A TS makes a great boost for a Nobles to cut some bass and make it less scooped for leads.
Doesn’t Browne or Cornerstone do a dual pedal of that? If not, it won’t be long!
I’ve got a Protein and don’t find the Nobels side scooped at all, quite the opposite. It might be that they are modded that way from Browne, but I’m pretty sure Brian Wampler showed that it has a mid hump, but not so exaggerated like the Tube Screamer.
@@coupe-lee Yeah I’ve got 2 proteins myself (one on each of my boards) and I think it’s probably the best voiced nobels style circuit out there. Less scooped in the mids and slightly less bass than all the reissue ODRs. But just in general the nobels circuit being so ‘amp like’ means that it increases bass and highs as you turn it up, making it feel a bit scooped like a cranked fender - especially when compared to the EQ of a TS. They just tend to pair well together for a rhythm/lead boost sound.
That Logic drum kit sounds great. What's the secret sauce plugin-wise?
Compressed hard and added some overdrive to it. Plus turning down the cymcals very low :)
I know it's off topic. But under what name do I find your tonenet profiles? Mucho appreciationez!
I was waiting for the QOTSA riff
2000$ for nobels ODR1 ?? It's 110€ on thomann, its the best thing about it, it's good and cheap.
I said the 90's era Nobels is expensive
Nobels 30th Anniversary ODR-1 in GOLD was revealed at Guitar Summit 2023 in Germany this weekend. HaHa
Check out the new Nobels ODR-1 30th Anniversary Pedal - the original - ;-)
Very interesting indeed that tone adjusts treble as well as bass.....I'm such a tone hoe. I am very curious as to what this will sound like on my Randall solid state. I was really enjoying the punky surf tone! Oh my....
The ODR Spectrum control is really effective. I see now how it pushes two frequencies at the same time as you adjust. I like to think of it as a Loudness Control on Yamaha Home Audio in the 80s and 90s.(When the music was played softly, you could turn up the bass and treble at the same time, "Loudness", to make it seem more accurate.) In fact I was just speaking with a fellow designer late last night, that had overlooked this pedal and tone network his entire career, like myself. Very cool indeed!
I wanted to make a joke about missing the part where you say what this has to do with Josh Homme, but your content is too good for me to bother being a jerk. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Can't say that it sounds bad but it's just more of the same of the same...
