Did we play the same game? Tifa was amazing 😅 Aerith was great too but I loved Tifa and Clouds relationship, especially the scenes where one of them would start having a panic or freaking out and the other one would be there for them... Cloud also opens up to her and has those badass scripted attack scenes with Cloud 🤔
I prefer it long. It was nice for me to pay $70 and get over two months of gameplay. I only dislike the situp minigame and the rest were fun or challenging. Honestly, hope part 3 is even longer, xD i’m buying multiple collectors if it’s 100+ hours again just to support devs more
For some of us $ is not a problem and we would rather enjoy the chore game. I do dislike the fact many important items (or useful at the very least) are hidden under 100th minigame.
It's like they knew they had to stretch 10 hours of actual content into much more. So they made every beat last too long and filled the game with filler content. They game definitely dragged and some filler content just made me roll my eyes. I still hate Chadley interrupting any bit of fun I had every 5 minutes.
But those are not my main issues. My actual main issue is materia management. In the og game, you could simply switch a row of materia from one member to another member. In this game, you always have to take pick each materia one by one. And because this game does so much of party switching that you always have to switch materia around. After a while you get bored of the minmaxing and you're just running with whatever suboptimal build and skip filler content to actually play the fucking game.
And the ending ruined all the grinding and effort I put into the game. I cannot even recommend the game to anyone who is not already a fan because the best moments are ruined and there's so much meta content only for the fans of the series.
7/10 as a fan of the og. XVI was 5/10.
This game, in my honest opinion is the best game that has released this generation so far. And for me the best Final Fantasy game since X on the PS2. I can’t believe this game exists. And I get your complaint about it being long and all. But think about the fact that a game that’s packed with so much compelling content releases in 2024 with no microtransactions, DLC and little bugs. That’s insane. Do you remember how much DLC had to be added to the mess of a game that was FF15 that made it feel like a complete game. Square could have monetized so many things. Summons like Odin, Gilgamesh and Bahamut could’ve been microtransactions, or even some equipment like the Genji gloves but no it’s all there in the game and you get them by hard work. Bro I can’t believe this game came from Square Enix of all people. It boggles my mind. And then there’s the combat. A fantastic step up from remake. This combat should be the standard for future FF titles. Not 16’s imo. And there’s also the story, characters, the romance, development, emotional gut punches…. Ugh. The Chocobo racing minigame is even better to me than Mario Kart. I kid you not . Man this game is a masterpiece. This is a strong 1st for me this gen with Elden ring being 2nd. So I’m just grateful that o the gaming gods that this game exists. It’s a labor of love. And that explains the universal acclaim it got from critics and users alike. I get your criticisms and I know some have issues with the direction of the story, but this was Square firing on all cylinders

My first playthrough was 86 hours while avoiding a lot of the minigames. No need to do everything on the first playthrough. I did actually end up doing most of the side content after unlocking chapter selection because I actually found most of them really good and fun but while doing my first playthrough I didn't want to play a different game in the game. All the side content is optional and can be returned back to later.
People's opinion on the game seems to be quite polarizing for some reason. It has become my favorite game of all time and I do consider it overall one of the best games ever made. It does have some problems but I'd say the good far outweighs the bad.
I enjoyed watching watching the video and hearing your take on the game. Imo it just would be nicer if there was more on the screen than just the same clip repeated a lot of times.
Thanks for watching. Agree if players know it's fine to go at their pace it's maybe easier to accept.

There's plenty to enjoy. Take it at your own pace. Hopefully it hits PC and next Switch soon.

Far from mixed. An extremely small porcentage of games reach its metacritic score. Apart from a divisive ending, which FF VII Remake had as well, the game is great.@@deusvlad2.083
My personal opinion is that I wanted a remake, not a redo that the writers wanted to do. Its clear they want to sponge as much possible so they're making 3 games, which is fine but it does suck that theres so much padding but you can't go through stuff that would be good to go through like the actual story with Cid in Rocket Town, being able to play with Cid and Vincent. It also sucks so much that probably the next game we lose all the stuff we worked 100+ hours for. What level will we start at? 30? 40? I do hate some minor changes they made like in Coral. My god did I hate the gongaga padding too... It sucks you don't speak Japanese haha I'm a hafu and I hate eng VAs
Also, I feel like the weapons don't even get stronger? They're just different
Did you play with English subs or Japanese dialogue and subs? Curious to hear if you thought the differences were jarring.
@@Jehdii I played with Japanese audio + no subs haha. I get distracted with the subs. I just can't do English dubs on JRPGs. I could play KH1 + 2 in English but for some reason KH3 dialogue in English was horrendous
Yes it's funny. As an og player 40 yo with 3 kids, I have a hard time to play rebirth. It's really wasting your time with padded non needed stuff.

I just finished the game. And overall I liked it... I really didn't like the way they tried to push the queen's blood. I also didn't like the part you play as Cait Sith, where you throw boxes to progress. The soundtrack is really great, but as a Brazilian I must say that I'm a little tired of hearing Bossa nova and Samba in games... It's not bad by any means, but it bothered me to the point of turning off BGM while exploring the Corel Region on chocobos. As I hear this type of music practically everywhere around here, I don't really like it.
They also repeated a lot of exploration stuff. The intel gathering, the towers, the treasure hunts... it's like a Far Cry game. All of this made the game longer than necessary. My main focus was the story, I'd say that it was mostly a positive experience, I expected to see Jessie alive like Biggs but it didn't happen. At the end, the whole Aerith conclusion was a bit confusing specially during the final battle.
The intel gathering should be improved in part 3, anything better than pressing triangle. Towers were mid, but some of them were actually fun just to reach because of small environmental puzzles especially cosmo canyon and gongaga.
I really expected to hate that Cait Sith bit but came away... whelmed. It wasn't amazing but short enough to largely forget.

One minute talking about the gameplay of a .... video GAME. This is sad that videogames turned out into action games. This is bullshit. Final fantasy is DEAD. I hope dragon quest never changes.
The combat is sick. Chaotic but sick. I didn't try the Classic mode, isn't that more turn based?
The return of previous mini games was kind of annoying and superfluous. We did crunches already, everyone hated it, why recycle it? I liked the free exploration flying chocobo, the minigame was just an extended useless tutorial. The side characters it introduced were superfluous and did nothing to add to Yuffie's character development. Definitely needed to cut content towards the end to focus on the story. Hell the chocobo catching minigames were entirely useless. Nothing even remotely related to the chocobo's skill.
I would have liked the side content to be more of an after thought. You should stay focused on the main quest and fight the Midsomer and only then, after you've moved through the area, then double back for the side content. It's obnoxious when they thrust side content in your face all along the story line and disappointing when it's just more of the same at the end.
It's good storytelling to have challenges that are too hard but optional to double back for. Gives you a sense of progression. The summons should have been locked behind area exploration not the stupid shrines. We already visit the life springs, why do it twice... in every area???
As to Nanaki, I found all of it grating. You can't fake wisdom nor turn it on and off on a whim, unless you're schizophrenic, but even if that was their intent the execution was poor. You can let your emotions get the upper hand, but sudden drastic change just flat out lost me. At least Vincent's monster was real when he let it out.
Bugenhagen also seemed intentionally moronic, never seemed the doddering old fool in the OG to me. Acts like an alzheimer's patient who thinks he's a 20 something in archeology school. I hated the whole of Cosmo Canyon the town, but liked the grand canyon inspired exploration area with Cetran ruins.
Cait... well they tried. ADHD let's all be happy and not think nor look too deeply into ourselves. Could make a character arc, but they went nowhere with it. Just "Congrats! I'm here to save the day because the plot demands it!" "We'll accept you back because the plot demands it!"
I like longer games, or at least I used to think I did. As I grow older I hate my time being wasted. An hour thirty is all a good movie needs. Anything more and it's just a sign of poor storytelling skill. If you draw a joke out too long it looses its humor.

FF7 rebirth is TERRIBLE I MEAN TERRIBLE!! omg I think rebirth literally ruined my love of the beloved orginal! Fans wanted a fun nostalgia of FF7! what we got was convoluted story with lots padding that ruin the pacing of the game, along with poorly design open world filled with rinse and repeat tower activation task throughout 7 different regions can could of been shrunk down.. The mini game was frustration and nobody asked for it, especially the Caith sith box throwing segment.. I`m glas square enix is losing money and maybe they will start thinking about making good products in the future.
Something I learned over the years is to accept new interpretations will happen and may not be what I like, but I won't let it spoil the fun I had with it/other versions back in the day. Same for movies, they can keep making Superman movies for example but Christopher Reeve's is the one I've enjoyed most.

I'm the opposite. Played and finished the og FF7 and found it extremely underwhelming. Then remake came out and I decided to ginger it a whirl and I've since fell in love with its universe and characters
Nice hearing your thoughts! The game is an incredible good game with its combat, characters, environment, music, and more, but I am one of those that think that the multiverse, whispers and fate stuff is insanely stupid, and the ending is just... I don't mind the length, most of the minigames, and I played with Eng VAs. I want to return to it for a hard mode run, but the thought of going through the story with all the changes I don't like again keeps me from doing that.
